  • Vic's reputation has been shit for years based on their independent research, so even if he's completely in the right it's harder to look good making the arguments. They say he's arguably defamation proof because of how long his reputation has been like this.
  • This case is clearly being used by groups like KF and Lawtwitter to fight the culture war. If someone wanted to legally fight against #metoo and cancel culture, they should pick a squeaky clean person who was wrongfully damaged, not someone like Vic
  • Whether or not Vic is innocent, they point out that the current ruling sets a dangerous precedent - that any innocent person can get their life ruined, bring petitions to the courts, and get immediately shut down with no real consideration for any evidence involved
  • The general consensus from the guys is that the appeal will probably end up not working out, but they equally wouldn't be surprised if some of it (especially the shit on Toye) got successfully appealed and brought back to trial. They do note that if it goes back to trial, they think Vic's case is fucked because of the dirt the defense will be able to dig up about him.
  • Lawtwitter is particularly stupid, and apparently they've gotten death threats and dox threats from Lawtwitter speds
  • Everyone who is involved in this mess of a case is incredibly fuckin stupid, and while it has been entertaining they partly regret ever looking at this burning shitheap

So basically they're flatly wrong and can't do the research properly (if Vic were defamation proof he wouldn't have been damaged by defamation), but even they can see how stupid lawtwitter is, and what a bad thing it would be for Vic to fail.

It’s amazing that this is the second time they’ve adopted the same financial practices that they ridiculed Vic for - the other being autographed artworks.

A) This is not the Jamie Marchi legal defense fund. This is a general fund for Time's Up. A lot of that money has gone to staff, overhead, travel, organizing events, producing documents, etc. They rented the Getty and the Opera House in LA recently for lavish fundraisers, word is they did not break even on either. They do other events in other venues, this is one of the best ways to virtue signal in 2019.

B) The money Time's Up puts into individual cases mostly comes through a network of donors. They do a lot of fundraising mostly through traditional Democratic Networks.

C) I actually don't understand their legal structure so don't know how to verify their finances. There are multiple non-profits involved in the "movement" who have been filing 990s indicating they operate at a loss. Saying this because there's a lot of shadiness to the group, my guess is some of the people donating to individual cases are doing so as a tax write off. It's November, if they are paying Jamie's bills that does not mean they will continue to do so come January 1.

D) The stuff where they say they are funding lawsuits for waitresses - 9/10th of that is bullshit. They are spending money on anti-Trump PR. Some of the protestors at the Kavanaugh hearings were paid by groups associated with Time's Up. While I know they have multiple fundraising streams, I'm not certain they have raised more through other channels.
