I don't have a lot to say in the form of criticism necessarily, but something popped up immediately for me. If this ever gets picked up by a network for a series, they would probably have to make a lot of changes to the character designs (the ones with lots of patterns and colors) to make them easier and faster to animate. Networks set deadlines. If it takes too long to make, or costs a lot of money, they probably won't want to do it.

It wasn't bad and I appreciate the work that everyone put in to make this project happen. Alastor was my favorite character and Vaggie is probably the least likable so far. There were too many red and pink colors for my liking but I guess it's just Vivziepops style at this point. Also I think they should decide if they want humanoid characters with animal features or full-on furry ones because it just looks really bizarre when the two kinds interact with eachother.

Pilot was meh but I'm also firmly substance > style, it's more funny to see people abbreviating it to HH. If this ever gets picked up, I'll be interested in how the production goes instead of the actual show. Being nice for a second, Vivzie has cowish tendencies in my book, she gets offended when people criticize her, professionally or not professionally, so internal discourse that'll inevitably happen will be funny to hear about.

(Small aside for context, this was from a thread originally about Hazbin that has basically devolved into a bootleg lolcow thread on Vivzie.)

Anyways watching members of her cult fanbase duke it out with people with hateboners is also more amusing than the show.

Reading that archived post, a lot of red flags for what is ultimately a 'meh' pilot will have sporadic shit turns in animation quality, pacing, and story. I expect it to have the same fate as that teenage robot show, just with more personal quarrels and autistic diatribes.

I like a lot of the character designs but they're all so similar that it's hard for any of them to really stand out. They're even harder to see against the background since the palette for everything is hot pink. The animation itself was pretty hard to watch because it kept cutting between shots so fast it doesn't really give you time to see what's going on. You can definitely tell it's not a professional production. I think they were trying to make it a comedy but nothing really made me laugh or even crack a smile the whole time and a lot of the characters seem like they're trying to pander super hard to the tumblr crowd.

The voice acting was nice but I really hated the singing. I can't even remember how many songs there were because they were very forgettable and Charlie's voice actress is a pretty mediocre singer. The music wasn't bad enough to make me want to skip forward or mute the video, but I certainly don't want to listen to any of the songs again. Radio Demon had the best voice but that could have been due to the effect the placed over it.

One of the biggest things that stood out to me was Vaggie, Charlie's girlfriend. I didn't even know they were supposed to be a couple until I looked it up. I thought Vaggie was her manager or guard at first (since she was introduced as being a princess). Then in the limo scene with Angel Dust, it's implied that she's hispanic or latina with the taco joke and her speaking Spanish later in the episode but there was no indication of ethnicity up until that point except maybe the shape of her nose. It wasn't even made clear that anyone HAD an ethnicity and I assumed they were all just "race: demon."

I do want to give the creator credit for this tweet at least. Reviewers have it hard enough on youtube, it's nice to see they're (allegedly) willing to sort out copyright claims no matter how positive or negative a review is.

which is not necessarily a good thing, because Homestuck is not the sort of story you should fully inspire yourself on.
Overall it doesn't seem too bad right now, but it has the potential to go sour badly, especially if Vivzie allows exterior influence to seep in.

I hope this becomes a hit and inspires more western cartoons aimed at an adult audience. They're pretty rare, usually the mindset in the west is that cartoons are for kids. The songs were catchy and the art style was gorgeous. It had plenty of flaws but compared to other cartoons and musicals it was creative, daring, unique and masterfully crafted.

The best thing about Hazbin Hotel is that there's nothing else quite like it.

Undertale was also made by a homestuck fan and it was pretty good.

At least Viv seems to realize that Vaggie's tumblr misandry is cringey, otherwise her name wouldn't be vagina themed. I hope they explore her backstory and reveal that her snowflake personality traits stem from trauma or something. I'm also praying that her relationship with Charlie won't be totally peachy and we'll get some relationship drama episodes. Charlie gives me bisexual vibes.

I don't really care much for the plot, or humor, but Angel Dust and Alastor are certainly entertaining enough to keep my interest-specifically the latter for being one of the most creative and unique characters I've seen in a long time. Animation is great, and while in some place the quality does go down, it's not enough to be that noticeable. I'd say it's worth checking out.

I’m a little lost, what in the screenshot implies that she’s a homestuck?
 
Well, it wasn't bad, and the art-style is a welcome relief from the current garbage art you see all to often in TV and other animated shows. I'm curious where they are going to from there, but my bet is that it's going to be a Patient of the month format compressed into a single episode. Personally I'd prefer two episodes per patient, but that's wishful dreaming.
I hope they cut back the singing. While it's nice, it can be excessive.
