Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

So I saw it
I know some one who works in a higher end consulting capacity for Lucasfilm. He said almost no one in Lucas or Disney management believed in Dave Filoni.....and now they are betting the company on him but they are playing it super safe and having Jon Favreau hand hold him.

Luckily this is Jon Favreau after he has taken his brain medicine. And it Jon and Dave's creative energies both working together well and at their top form.

I don't like the high digital resolution. Everything is also put in a dark and grungy color palate so it looks like you bought "pre-Stained" jeans at the store. It doesnt really look the rusted and broken down cowboy look that it wants to go for.

The music is very MEH

The acting is all good, but none of it is great [But the story doesnt have a lot for anyone to work with]

Story is very basic, BUT its trying to set the tone of the show [which it does well], show you that they respect the world in a way contemporary SW hasnt [which they accomplish well], and do the unfolding mystery box story structure that Streaming shows all do.

It builds the world up very subtly.

Is it good enough to get Disney Plus for it?
No....Not even close.

Does Disney trust that people will want to use their back catalog enough to use the service?
No (otherwise they would let you bing The Mandalorian on day 1)
Were there glitches while watching it?

Also a Revan Easter Egg was in TLJ
You mean how the Porgs invading the Millennium Falcon was like the Gizkas invading the Ebon Hawk? I remember hearing something about the visual dictionary of TLJ having a reference to Revan, but even that is probably just Hidalgo taking liberties again with shit he has no real control over anymore.

Luke had a Holocron of Revan's in his hut
Never noticed that before. Then again I only saw the movie 2 times, second time while drunk. Do you mean the little knickknacks on the shelf next to the window of the hut? Holocrons technically predate KOTOR so it might not be a Revan reference specifically.

Per Disney it belonged to Revan
But Revan hasn't been confirmed to exist in Disney (yet). I think the only references to him are "jedi crusader" in the visual dictionary and an unnamed silhouette in the Anakin & Kenobi comic from like 3 years ago which could be retconned into being anyone. It could also just be one of the Holocrons from Filoni Wars or Aladdin's Rebels.

This movie is less than 40 days away and there's nobody talking about it, while Joker threads are still getting 200+ replies on /tv/.

Holy fucking shit this is a ride.

What are the chances it'll bomb on the level of Solo? I just can't see it happening. Even if it underperforms, I have to imagine Disney will massage the numbers to paint it as a success. Episode IX bombing would be something they wouldn't be able to foist off on "toxic fandom" anymore.

Well even if they try to pull "Ghost Tickets" again, that isn't going to fly a second time as the trick has already been shown and now more eyes are on them so more honesty will be required

It will probably do better from JJ's name alone, TLJ seemed to give people a hard-on for him for absolutely no reason other than the fact that he isn't as terrible as Rian.

There's already a conspiracy that Disney is buying their own tickets, like what happened with Captain Marvel.
/tv/ is not really a good barometer though. They had Battle Angel Alita threads for nearly a year after the movie came out, which is not a bad thing, but not indicative of movie performance.
What is a better barometer, then?

Its good. It didnt have enough room to be great. **IF** Disney had a Cape Trash Marvel show to build in another pillar i'd not be thinking "Why dont I just wait to get a month when this is all finished"
Just wait for the next episode where the lesbian POC mandalorian wins at life or some shit.
Cap this, things will go downhill FAST. Bail while you can.

I'm going to pirate the Mandalorian. I would just pay them and then trash it online if it's bad but they've put in so much work to delegitimize negative online opinions about their content that not giving them money is now the only way to express discontent with the direction they are going in a way they might hear.

The Mark Hamil tweet is brutal telling some Boomer that dropping $600+ on tickets is a waste and to wait till it drops on paid cable/disney+ for 'free'. (32*20 math is hard)
