I think it's because the followers of HAES believe that if they show off their most disgusting areas they will eventually stop feeling insecure and it will force society to find them attractive.

Unfortunately for them the subconscious part of the brain that still feels shame is screaming at them to stop while the conciousness keeps on going like a lemming off the cliff. The whole movement thinks that if they just keep in piling up bodies at the bottom of that cliff they can get to the promised land at the other side. Too bad the only end is diabetes, pain, suffering, and an agonizing death.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Maybe it's a bit of both. I have mentioned before that I think this practice of posting these miserable, awful nudes ala lipids is a form of self-punishment. You know how you always hear of these so-called cyberbullying cases where some girl offed herself and it's allegedly due to the horrid things said in some obscure place online to them, THEN you find out it turns out they sent the nastiest messages to themselves using socks? That's how I see the likes of lipids doing nudes. It's a way of getting beat up on and punishing themelves and it's the veneer of woke politics that both allows them to do this without sneaking about AND reap the best punishment beatings when they read comments online about them. Some people are just mental and want to hear all the bad things they think about themselves repeated elsewhere, even if they have to post them themselves. Wokiness in all its 'activist' forms seems to be a massive draw for the mentally unstable and self-loathing anyway.
