There's 3 pony series in development, these new designs might be related to the shorts.
IIRC one series is supposed to be a comedy because someone liked touhou and RWBY and wanted an SD comedy show.

Welp, looks like they were wrong about the full reveal being on Friday. Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great displeasure that I present to you My Little Pony: Pony Life.
I'd say @AnOminous was right on the mark with his impression of it. Not only does it look exactly how you would imagine a Teen Titans Go version of My Little Pony but it seems like they've finally brought the bean face to ponies. Here's the instagram where they announced it alongside all the seething bronies in the replies as well as a brief synopsis from Entertainment Weekly. G5 or not, the fandom is either in suicide watch or full cope mode over it.

One can only wonder how long one can keep up in liking something before turning out to not like it beyond trying to one up a group of spergs they may be no different from. Sadly, MLP fandom autism never was that bad before brony era; it was your usual female-centric doll collectors community forte (bad sellers, fake variants, someone vendetta-ing someone cause of petty reasons, custom plagiarism whining...there was rampant autism when g2 appeared, but it was so long ago, it's only getting alluded to nowadays), and truly terrible people were an event.
