Tell Me Why - Life is Strange 3: You're a tranny now.

Ah, I’ve been meaning to get to that one. I hear it’s surprisingly good.
It is. The combat almost feels souls-like and the wild characters & branching story merit multiple playthroughs. Def got its flaws and is guilty of propagating the diverse 19th century european city meme, but the depth of its lore and the grace of its execution make it worth the time.

No, no, no, you're doing it wrong. It's:

Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never want to hear you say
I want it that way

You missed it.

Tell me why
I'm stuck as a virgin with rage!
Tell me why
I so need a cute girl my age!
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say,
"I have a boyfriend!"

they did lesbians, then minorities so whats next? trannies? is the next game going to be a tranny fighting against Donald Trump and his KKK army?
oh well fuck me, i didn't even read the article before commenting but yea they are actually having you play as a tranny, holy fuck this will be gloriously autistic

So they've made a game based on Boys Don't Cry.

I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Calling it now, the twist at the end is either
A) the mother/father was sexually abusive and that’s the reason one of the twins trooned out

B) the tranny twin is just an imagination of the girl dealing with childhood trauma and her secret wish to be a man

At this point, the devs are doomed to go the same way as TellTale. The first LiS was lightning in a bottle, catering to journos; tumblr and waifufags while giving the option to be a lesbian.
The second one doesn’t cater as nearly much to those groups while still having the option to be gay (what did they mean by this lmfao) and having brilliant political commentary („everything is political my dude“ - soyboy Journalist living on the road, having wealthy parents) this one is probably going to be less successful as LiS2. Hell, they still haven’t released the last episode of LiS2.

"Tell me Why" it's about a stereotypical dream of a tranny dude instead of an actual representation of a dumpy chick who barely passes because she no doubt couldn't actually afford all the treatment her supposedly terrible mother didn't wanna pay for.

But hey, maybe I'm just being cruel. After all, it's not like LiS2 has fucking annoying sibling characters that absolutely don't represent anything realistic in 2017 unless you're French and have no idea how America actually is.

The idea behind Vampyr sounds fascinating, but from what I hear it falls into the usual trap of not being able to make the loss of various characters actually impact the story in a significant way.
They impact stuff as much as can be expected, and the subplots don't get resolved if you kill people too early. What's nifty is that everyone is a secret scumbag to some degree, so the more you get to know about them, the more dirty secrets come out in the wash. Kll certain folks and you won't resolve certain arcs.

It's not perfect but it is rewarding and gets you really weighing your choices.

[insert witty shrugging gif here]

I only played the first episode of the first season of Life is Strange, the one featuring Max, the 18 year old that talked like a """"hip"""" 50 year old and Beanie Cap Skater Girl Trope #12. It was one of the very few games I intentionally put down. Not like, "got distracted by something else" put down, but conscientious effort "no thank you," put down. Main reason why I couldn't get into it, besides the attrocious "to cool for school" hipster-speak, was that it felt like every character was thought up by a high school creative writing class. Oh, this character is a Christian, therefore she's all mousey and demure. Oh this character is rich, therefore she's a stuck up bitch. Hello token, inoffensive black character! Hello token fat character that can't stand up for themselves! Hello manipulative white guy stereotype 1 through 5! So, maybe by the end of the first game they were more fleshed out or something, but all I know is that is that the town may or not have been destroyed by Sappho Surprise and that is enough for me to give it a pass.

Now with Life Is Strange: Return to the Diverstiy Well - this doesn't surprise me in the least. This doesn't even qualify an eyeroll from me, because Dontnod is setting themselves up for a fucking fall. The usual neckbeard dumbfucks are going to be the usual neckbeard dumbfucks, and the usual Let's Get Bitchin' Tacos groups are going to shower this with praise... until when the game comes out and then everyone remembers "Oh yeah, this is a game written by Dontnod," and the "first main transgender character" is going to yet another character built entirely on "positive" stereotypes and will not bring anything new and/or insightful.

All the same... just whatever. I don't even care anymore.

...

Also, another forgotten Dontnod game: Remember Me. Actually don't all that terrible. Fighting mechanics leave a lot to be desired but the design of the game is awesome, the Time Rewriting Mechanics in Life is Strange 1 were stolen wholecloth from this game too.
