Sorry to necro a thread, but I just found out that this game existed five minutes ago and I'm ready to drink vodka straight from the bottle.
Pretty much every single article I could find on it is screaming "FIRST TRANSGENDER MAIN CHARACTER! FIRST TRANSGENDER MAIN CHARACTER! also idk some mystery shit but FIRST TRANSGENDER MAIN CHARACTER!"
The thing that gets me is that if you pay attention you'll notice that there seems to be a scene implying that Tyler started transitioning as a child. And I suspect that, with most dontnod games, anyone who suggests that this is a bad thing will be written as a hammy bigot with no redeeming qualities.
Dontnod needs to get its shit together. That Captain Spirit mini-game was neutral in that there were no politics to it; Life is Strange was preachy here and there; but Before the Storm and Life is Strange 2 has
really ramped up the insufferable preachiness that I think is driving away more people than they realize. They have a real problem with "the good people are who I say they are, even if they're hypocritical shit-heels with few to no redeeming qualities", and anyone they intend to be a villain gets written in the most over-the-top way.
I hope that just like Life is Strange, this game will also be full of revolutionary gaming innovations, like being able to sit down or sacrifice a bunch of innocent people and children for one insufferable dangerhair cunt.
Dontnod has not learned their goddamn lesson where Chloe is concerned. That's why they gave her a prequel story: They legitimately do not get that most people who were into Chloe were posturing SJWs that are willing to cut 1000 yards of slack to their "precious gay babies", even when said "precious gay babies" are abusive cunts who treat their love-interest like shit the minute she fails to do what they tell her to, and are willing to steal money from a school that was
going to use the money to create handicap entrances for the building.
I guarantee you that if Tyler or Alyson (or both) ends up being an asshole, we will be expected to find them sympathetic and see them as the good guys regardless of how shitty their behavior is.
Incidentally, there's another dontnod game coming out this year too: Twin Mirror.
There's been relatively little released about the plot, even though it's supposed to be out sometime this year (to be fair, that was pre-corona-chan). It's going to be an "Epic Games Store Exclusive" for the first year of its release, whatever that means.
Interestingly, there's also been no word thus far about any identity politics shit for this one. Main character's a guy, so it's probably not feminism; he's white, so probably not racism; if I had to guess, they'll probably make him gay unless they go the Vampyr route and manage to avoid shoving a super-special label on their main character for this one.
