8chan is now a part of a new TV show - 8chan is an integral part in the new CBS show 'EVIL'. 8chan is shown as an evil place where school shooters thrive and plan their attacks. 4chan is mentioned too.

I hope they have someone saying they couldn't get the cap off and get Dick Wolf to write the show.

I've looked a bit into 8chan's history and imageboard history, (I am currently writing something about the history of the site) and in the past most 'free speech' imageboard sites like LibreChan and Null's 16chan (/phile/, text only) and 8chan for a while did allow paedophiles to talk freely with little guidelines other than don't post illegal shit. As long as it was legal, people could post what they want there.
8chan had very lax rules (librechan even laxer) about what images could be uploaded which lead to Dan Olslon, the daily beast and a few other publications calling it a place for illegal material due to how grey legally the images were (they were legal in the us but not in other places like canda).
Then Jim watkins in 2016 after he got full control of 8chan had much harsher rules against this which lead to many pedos from /b/ and /hebe/ leaving as well as the daily pedo thread on /b/ getting removed, the pedo's ended up moving to librechan and 16chan.
Librechan got shut down by the french authorities and null shut down 16chan as it wasn't getting enough traffic.

Here's the burning question: Who the fuck watches this show?

Boomers are on Death's Door - have ZERO ability to understand this culture or even the phenomenon of a 'chan'. 90% of Boomers can't navigate an iPad. Anything beyond FB is alien territory.
Xers are either: making these sites, wrestling with health/abuse issues, or working to pay off 4 ex-wives.

So I assume this show is aimed at Millennials. Meaning this demographic is even more milquetoast, pearl-clutching, 'insert topic' panic then their grandparents.

Also: Will CBS be featuring themselves on this show? Firing rando females b/c they might have seen/leaked the Epstein news video is p fucking Evil, imo.

I thought it was kinda stupid. But it didn't stay on long enough for me to see the 8chan stuff. No one else wanted to watch it.

But it's amusing that 8chan became part of a TV show about hunting down evil. It can't be any worse than that God-awful cringefest SVU episode where Gamergate is portrayed like ISIS. I tried to watch it for the lulz and it wasn't even so bad it was good. That IRL FPS scene at the end has to be the most embarassing scene Ice-T has ever been included in. And I only saw that months later after turning the episode off 15 minutes in the first time. It was just so bad. Maybe this show can do better.

I like the concept. Think it's well-executed enough for that. If you're not as into the concept, I don't suppose there's anything to recommend it. The show isn't really political much. They have an episode where there's a twist that the EVIL RAYCISS hospital wasn't treating Black patients as well, but they didn't really linger on it. Otherwise, the show's really tame and mostly just sticks to its theme of demons. As it goes on, it becomes more obvious that most every possession is a real demon, but a person couldn't tell if they didn't know.

I think the show will probably go way off the deep end and lose itself within a few episodes. Don't think it's premise is strong enough to last more than a season.
