The shareholders who own disney should fire Bob Iger for this as this will hurt long term investment even though ROTS will make $1B when it could have made 2x or 3x that. Literally Disney is walking away from BILLIONS with this entire franchise and NO ONE is accountable.
You're triggering my tism, call this abortion TROS as ROTS was one of the best Star Wars movies and gets better every time you see it again.

My biggest criticism for consumerism is the consumers. We can agree fans can get over their head with whatever product or beloved pop culture franchise, like Star Wars. But I hate when people treat something like there has to be a quota where this many [x] have to appear or they don't like it! What happened to enjoying something with no concern whether you'll like or not after its over?

I genuinely can't imagine being like these idiots- so insecure in your gender that you get angry when a show doesn't have characters that have the same genitals as you. Like, fucking hell, I'm a woman and the gender of the characters is just about the last thing I notice in a show because ultimately, it doesn't matter if a character has tits or not. All that matters is if they're well written. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was surprised that the lead character of Jedi Fallen Order was a white male. Have any of them complained about that?
Only a small handful from what I can tell. The majority love it because the MC is being taught and told what to do by a stronk jedi woman of color who ends up wrecking Vader's shit with her own sue powers after the MC can't cut it.

According to internal data within the Fallen Order game, Starkiller Base from TFA is actually an old EU planet we once knew as Ilum which first appeared in the novel Jedi Quest and Genndy Wars (although some of you zoomers may only remember it from Filoni Wars' Gathering episode) where it was one of the most sacred worlds of the jedi and the source of most lightsaber crystals, and I guess Disney hadn't taken a big enough dump yet on past SW lore so they decided to wreck Ilum, destroy the temple and the biggest source of lightsaber crystals before eventually converting it into the Death Star 3 XL/Starkiller and then blowing it up in TFA. I should've seen this coming when a shitty Hidalgo guide put Starkiller in the same coordinates as Ilum.

Also gotta love how they're making the galaxy even smaller.

Even the lighting looks like clownworld.

Do these idiots even keep track of the news? A female character's already been confirmed to be a main and regular cast member. Do they simply not like that a competent male character with no forced female aid (for the time being) finally takes the spotlight in SW after so long even if its just for 4 episodes or maybe even less?

They're NPCs and if they're not told by their programmers that a piece of media is approved they assume it's not woke and has everything they hate.

the possibility of Palpatine in ROTJ just being a clone while the real one was sitting on his couch watching Hutt porn, which when I heard about it I thought "there's no way they can be that stupid right? They wouldn't retcon his first appearance, his defining moment, the film which would define the Emperor for over 30 years just for some cheap explanation... right?" But here we are. They were truly stupid enough to go there, and the drones will eat this shit up for being subversive despite shitting on Dark Empire for also using clones, but at least in DE, Vader actually took out the body that had Palpatine's actual soul, threw a giant wrench into his plans and ruined his fucking empire and reputation while giving his son the chance to defeat him himself, while in Plan 9 this was all part of the big "master plan" and Palpatine always suspected he would be betrayed and for some insane reason actually wanted his Empire to fail, so there was never any real sense of achievement. All Vader and Luke were doing was fighting against a soulless meat puppet that was barely a quarter as strong as the original, so now its up to Rey to go full Avatar Goku and defeat the true Palpatine after he goes Super Saiyan after eating Kylo Ren's soul... Honestly, the way Battlefront II portrayed Palpatine's re-tarded "chess" plan has got nothing on this. This is insanely stupid, yet drones will lap it up.

when I read it I immediately had the picture of woke writers in a room brainstorming till someone mused "what if the emperor was a clone all along...?" and everybody is gasping for air and awestruck, thinking it is absolute genius, why didn't anyone think of this before?

even operation cinder wasn't as retarded since you could accept it as a "the galaxy failed me, now everybody's gonna burn". of course it fell of a cliff when you had officers legit follow the plan to give the protagonist a hamfisted reason to defect.

it was also heavily featured in TOR being the only planet with open pvp. people probably remember it more for bioware going full retard with it's GM policy dealing with people using every aspect of pvp, including spawncamping and zergs. least you were allowed to dance there.

The thing is, human psychology is broadly similar across the world, regardless of culture. If you translate a work from one culture, (as long as it isn't bootlicking bullshit from Communists, Muslims or Libertarians), it will get fans in another. Since the Japanese market is so demanding and their culture is so perfectionist, they insist on bashing out good products, because to do otherwise is not only lazy and disingenuous, it's outright insulting to your own ability.

don't forget otakus take their shit serious. they might be loser nerds for most people, but if you get them riled up you're in for a treat.
I don't think the SW faction is that big there (especially as already mentioned their own stuff is miles ahead), at best TROS will be laughed at and quietly vanish once it starts in other countries, worse it will be absolutely torn apart in every aspect, if not for the insulting story and characters alone.

Why is it so goddamned hard to make a movie that has a complete, start-to-finish plot for JJ?

Because it takes skill and talent to actually do execute something. But if you lack those traits, you can fake it by doing mystery boxes and things off screen.

To have a character that uses comedic wit, you need to be able to use comedic wit, which requires you to be be funny, smart, and clever. If you aren't these things, you can fake reasonably well for short periods with snark.

So just as Snark is comedy's syphilitic cousin, so the Mystery Box is Actually Interesting Plots.

As to how JJ keeps getting jobs, as I said it works in small doses -as in, when you are giving a pitch or a treatment, small doses is all the execs are getting.
Or, let me put this another way: do you believe Iger has actually sat through TFA or TLJ, let alone the OG6?

J.J is right is one thing in that Mysteries really are very fun and engaging. Making theories and having fun trying to uncover something. I mean that's the main appeal of every detective story ever. If it's a mystery that actually has an answer.

To prove even kid's shows get this simple fact, Both Gravity Falls and Steven Universe had some huge reveals that some fans actually solved before it was official. You can go back and watch the series and notice all the clues on your own. The official channel even gathered all the clues:

My issue with J.J is that, If he is involved, I know there is no payoff, and he doesn't have any answers, so it's pointless to make theories with him.

Fans of LOST were lied to about how there had answers, and it turned out the writers were just making stuff as they went along.

It wasn't solvable because there was never an answer. People went crazy trying to solve something that never had a solution.

And that's why I dislike his style. He just wants people to make theories for the sake of it. People didn't learn from LOST, and fell for the trap thinking all TFA misteries were solvable, but in reality, they were just blanks anyone could fill with whatever, and that's exactly what Ryan Johnson did.

Point is, I don't mind making theories if there's actually a payoff. Everyone is rightful to feel cheated about TLJ, and if J.J is involved just don't bother with theories, it's not worth it.

The saddest part about this is all their efforts to push and demand more women in everywhere is it gets people annoyed at the idea of just putting more women in something--even if it could be cool or interesting. Then again, that might just be because of outrage marketing and ragebait clicks.

Agreed; Anything that lists "Female Protagonist" or "diverse cast" as a selling point now makes me immediately doubt the quality of the product being shilled and consider not buying it. Because even if the media isn't complete and utter shit, it gives me pause because the story will likely be full of super-woke hot takes on CURRENT ISSUES.

I don't care if the protagonist is female if they're a good character and the story is interesting.
Hell, I don't over all care that I'm not the target audience for some shit.
What I do care is when they take stuff I am the target audience for, ruin it with woke shit, and tell me I'm supposed to like it and I'm a turbohitler if I don't.
See that earlier post about shit sandwiches.

It doesn't matter, Disney's already buying their own tickets anyway.

I hope the SEC catches this and hurls them all in jail.

They won't.

Here's how this works. Ticket sales are going to be hidden under the banner of "promotions" - you don't hand them out for free, you just hand them out at deep discounts. They will use all sorts of Hollywood Accounting money sliding tricks to move the cash around to cover this expenditure to the point no one will be able to tell.

One of the favorite money hiding tactics is "Loans with ticket sales as collateral".
Here's how this works. You are making a movie "Shitlander 2: The Wokening". Budget: 100 million.
No one has just $100 million in cash laying around. So you take out loans and seek to finance it. now, at numbers this large, people want some assurances. So you guarantee the loan with ticket sales from "Surefire Hit". This means the people who backed "Surefire Hit" will have their returns lessened when "Shitlander 2" tanks at the box office unless they were really careful with their loan documents.

A little convoluted, but hopefully you can follow it.

Because now the REAL fun begins when you start having productions loan money to other productions.
"Surefire Hit" has run over budget. Well, "Cancer Romance Tearjerker" is greenlit but stuck in production hell because they can't line up a vegan caterer until after the new year. Well, we'll simply move the $10 million "Surefire Hit" needs to finish shooting from "Cancer Romance"; we just need to make sure that money gets paid back when "Surefire Hit" makes it to the screen.

Confused yet? too bad, because we're going deeper.

Now, "Shitlander 2" needs to burn another 20 million to get released. So instead of taking $10 million from "Cancer Romance" we'll take 30, and pass that $20 onto "Shitlander". "Surefire Hit" now owes "Cancer Romance" thirty million, and "Shitlander 2" owes "Surefire Hit" 20 million.

So when Shitlander fails to sell a single ticket, this means "Surefire Hit" never gets its $20 million, and its now indebted to "Cancer Romance" for the full $30 million. This allows them to write down that $30 million against "Surefire Hit"'s direct ticket sales, as well as write off "Shitlander"'s budget, instead of taking Shitlander's loss in a possible amortization. They can also say "Surefire Hit" made $30 million less net profit, allowing the studio shaft anyone not smart enough to get their percentage as part of the Box Office Gross.

So how does this apply to Disney fucking with Plan IX's numbers?

Simple. You take the promo budget from "Black Panther 2: Madea's House" (which isn't due out for a year or two) and use it to deep, deep discount tickets to Plan IX; on Plan IX's BO gross, you see those tickets counting for full retail price. Plan IX then uses the money from ticket sales over the next 16 weeks to pay back "Black Panther 2" before it starts getting promoted in a couple years.

When that happens, you simply reflect that budgetary shift in your ledgers, and viola! Totally legal BO numbers fuckery.

tl;dr: In roman times, prostitutes were allowed to live in the city, but actors were viewed as lower than literal whores and forced to live outside the city walls.
The Romans had it right.

It wasn't solvable because there was never an answer. People went crazy trying to solve something that never had a solution.

I should be clear: When I say "Mystery Box" I don't mean plot hooks and set ups for reveals that are planned in advance, built on through the story, and come with a payoff when its finally actioned/revealed.
I mean a JJ Abrams zero thought, and zero planned pay off baited hook that looks intriguing but is just an empty box with a piece of wood and a box of screws inside you're never SUPPOSED to open, you're just to imagine what it could be!

Funny how there was kind of a delayed reaction on this outrage. Almost like they're angry about something else, like the fan reaction that's been mostly positive. But that's not possible cause that would mean they're just bitter and jealous people like this made for streaming series more than the woke wars movies.

Didn't Sandra Kuba blow the whistle on something similar Disney's been doing since the 2000s? Like counting discounted or free gift cards as full-priced sales on the ledger?

EDIT: Rian Johnson killed the wrong sister.
