I feel like I should get a copy just on G.P.

Edit: I don't feel like reading a 464 page book, so I'll just use one of my extra Audible credits. My generosity only goes so far. I'll listen to it driving to and from work.

She still gets to be a "top pick" despite the bullshit she went through earlier this year. Even if the book does happen to turn out to be shit, she looks happy there.

Although seeing Breaking Dawn peeking out from behind her honestly does tie it together into a pretty autistic bow.

Her lack of self-awareness is kind of adorable.

But it’s more than fine to destroy someone’s career before it begins because you were told their book might hurt three people’s feels. Siobhan Vivian should be saying “fuck that fucking bitch” to this moron.

That's what gets me--she did the exact same thing. She took this poor girl's story out of context, then she helped initiate a pile-on. Why is it okay when she does it but not when someone else does?

I’m sure you already know this, but it’s because she’s a massive, talentless hypocrite.

OK, double post I know. Because I am apparently an exceptional individual, I forgot to snag screenshots of a pile-on that was brewing over an author named Tasmyn Muir. Apparently she wrote incest fanfics on her FF.net account years back and it proves she's obsessed with it because her book, Gideon the Ninth, had that. Some #OwnVoices book reviewer named Shri (review site is called Sun and Chai) claims this is a problem, I guess. Anyway, she ended up leaving Twitter over it. I really wish I had screenshots but I don't. If she ever comes back maybe I can make that happen. I also can't find anything elsewhere about it. I apologize.

Anyway our favorite YA book reviewer had something to say about it.

Supporting someone who attempted a pile-on? Why am I not surprised?

Also, why do these people get so defensive? Why is it so hard to have friends who have opposing viewpoints? Or at least know people tangentically who don't 100% agree with you?

Because they need to be pure. They believe that just being near someone with the Wrong Opinions(TM) will convert them into Nazis somehow. And since they're so hungry to #cancel everyone who has ever lived, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get #cancelled for associating with someone years ago that was recently discovered to be guilty of wrongthink.

Depends on how many "years back" it was, I think. Reading what someone wrote as a teen isn't going to give you the best indication of their current work.

No amount of creative writing classes will make fan fiction writers get better in conceiving original ideas. They just get better at hiding it with good/passable grammar, proper formatting, and coming up with blander Mary Sue names.

I knew a guy who thinks this way. We are no longer friends because a friend of mine used the word 'nigga' and he 'can't be friends with someone who's friends with a racist'. I could never really figure out why, but you may have just explained it.

So much for her lesbian necromancer book being a hit with the in-crowd because she's into incest. And of course she has an AO3 account.

I'm glancing through her work there, and my eyes just gloss over from the get-go, nothing can grab my attention in the slightest. For one thing, it's in second-person (of this "Terezi Pyrope" character). Oh dear God, it's in second-person present-tense with these weird logs like those interactive Commodore 64 games or some shit breaking things up here and there. A lot of her works are written like this. I dunno how anyone could stand to sit and read through all of this to learn of what she's written in the past.

If this is how she's written Homestuck fan fiction, I can't imagine what her published work looks like. Hopefully she's smart enough to have avoided that, but her prose (what little I can tell) is rough.

Oh, her last fan fic posted is in 2013. She apparently had already been a published short story author by then, so much of it is indeed her writing style.

And she has such an unfortunate face.
