Arin Hanson / Egoraptor / Grump - "Hey I'm Grump!" of Game Grumps fame, hypocritical SJW doxer, shat himself recording a let's play

Jumping on a project with Arin is sort of like playing Russian roulette, but in recent years there have been more and more loaded chambers. Sure it'll grab you a decent amount of attention, but it may not be the kind of attention you want and the finished project might be an ugly mess.

That, and - due to his arrogance - Arin would totally lord that sudden influx of attention over the other person's head from that day forward (past comments on the Grumps and that weird flex he did on Twitter months ago paints him as that sort of jerk).

Yknow what I personally find very sad about all this? I remember back when GG first started and it was just Jon and Arin mindless rambling and cracking weird jokes while they played mega man or Kirby I saw people endlessly posting shit about them everywhere online while everyone kinda bonded over all their favorite moments and praised the two for taking something as relatively bland and niche as Let’s Plays and make them into something entertaining enough that anyone with a goofy sense of humor could enjoy. As much as everyone likes to poke fun at how crazy and lame this shit is now, when it started out it was actually something that breathed new life into the geeky YT scene and it got a lot of people interested in the concept of making Let’s plays more akin to chill podcasts and whatnot. But you don’t really see much of that stuff anymore. They’ve been greatly overshadowed by other channels that copied the formula, but tweaked it around and elaborated on it until it became something that stood out on its own, while Arin pretty much yanked out all the fun and soul that used to make the channel entertaining in exchange for turning into what can only be described as some strange unfunny Fox sitcom in the form of two guys half-heartedly playing games and repeating the same few jokes over and over again. Outside their own fandom and their hatedom nobody really seems to acknowledge anything about them anymore. They’ve become this weird entity that everyone knows exists but doesn’t really find them worthy of conversation anymore. Honestly for somebody who’s watched this shit unfold since high school it’s really jarring watching how it’s warped and slithered itself down this path of big name mediocrity, especially given how exciting that shit was at the start.

It’s like that old playground you used to hang out on as a kid. You had so many memories of swinging around and having mindless fun and making new friends in this cool colorful little landscape that always seemed to bring something new each day, but one day while you’re driving out to finish some errands you finally see it again and it’s this sad barren little place filled with overgrown weeds and old rusty metal with Swastikas and dicks painted all over it. It’s still there, but now it’s something that could never live up to the old memories you have of it.

Just thinking of all those times Arin has been ghosted by RLM whenever he @'d them and yet Plague didn't even @ them at all, someone else did, and he got a collab sorted lmao
Goes to show you that no matter how popular or famous you are, there will still be people that won’t give a shit about you.

being a bit of an autismo, but I thought it was worth mentioning. At the 13:16 mark there's a sly reference over pants shidding while Let's Playing.

This has been said 1,000 times but it's so fucking surreal how disappointing Mr. Hansen's career has been. Out of all people from the good ol' days of NewGrounds, Arin Hansen, by far the most talented and inspired creator on the website, is the one who wastes his potential the hardest by fully dedicating himself to making Let's Plays for 12 yearold autistic trannies. Arin must know this, and my Sigmund Freud powers tell me that the reason why his cellulite is so thin skinned is because he knows that Let's Playing is not something to be proud of.
I’m gonna have to disagree and say Happy Harry was probably the #1 of newgrounds, but that’s all opinion. Sirkowski was also doing some interesting stuff in the early 2000’s, but he fucked off to make pay walled porn comics

I've made this comparison before, and I'm gonna keep making it until the show dies and it all comes full circle: it is ASTOUNDING how close the parallels and fall from grace between Arin and Maddox is. Like really think about it for a second.

Both started off being considered pioneers for each of their respective genres, both abandoned what made their stuff work for awhile due to neither route being financially feasible, they then take on a more successful person to create a show that gets them so much fame and adoration for a year or two, before both co-hosts have a falling out, resulting in one trying to haphazardly continue the brand further than it was ever meant to go, while the other - despite how """controversial""" he was - has gone on to be far more successful than any thing else the other has done, and is still as successful to this day.

Meanwhile, the other dude tries and fails miserably to make an entire network based off of a group of friends/members of the old show, and one by one everyone from the old show starts to leave after they realize how bad things really are and how creatively stunted things have gotten. And any potential new hires are either people trying way too hard to kiss ass or recognize the shitty situation they're in but realize they can't get out, and as a result look dead inside. And slowly over time - as more shit starts to come out of shit going on behind-the-scenes - everyone starts to realize that this autistic character the dude's been putting on for years wasn't actually a character: that was actually how he acted IRL.

The other dude, recognizing the show can't continue like this, tries and fails to break out into other avenues like creating books and other forms of media that don't do nearly as well as the old show once did, but still lauds over people how they're the number one bestseller in their genre, when the reality is no one gives a crap. Then finally: bitter about his old co-host and old show's success, he tries to slander him publicly to no avail, disavow and pretend anything he did that was considered edgy never happened (and will even retroactively make sure of that by altering his own content and further pissing off his old fans), and just go full-on SJW and try to shame and blame anyone who disagrees with him, all while in private talking about how he actually feels to people he thinks are his real friends.

When in reality, everyone even remotely following him or acknowledging him these days is only there for the sole purposing of laughing at him, not with him.

And also something something they both have super childish and horribly organized rooms in their "offices".

Game grumps hasn't been relevant since Jon left. I know Jon has done stupid shit lately but he was a more entertaining host than Arin and he actually TRIES with his content. Grumps right now especially is super weak. Wtf is up with this channel?

It's dying.

You know a channel is getting desperate for clicks when they resort to cringy clickbait titles to draw people in. Speaking of which...

Arin decides to go solo on this one
Surprise! There’s no gameplay until 19 minutes in

The thumbnail for the sequel is just weird (instead of the arrow pointing at the cartridge, it's pointing at Dan. Like, what is that even supposed to mean? I assume it's meant to be clickbait (the arrow implying there's something about Dan in the video that you must watch to find out about) but it's such a dumb/cheap move that I'm more annoyed than curious about it.

That's because Plague is legitimately a pretty cool guy for being a grumpy old man. He makes quality animation and his "speed drawings" actually have some pretty insightful commentary too, be it about art, a show, or life in general.

But more to the point, PlagueofGripes rarely, if ever, makes anything bad and, despite acting a bit jaded and bitter sometimes, really puts his heart into everything he makes. If Plague decided to ask me to help with something you bet I'd jump on board because I know it'd be quality...also probably kinda creepy, but still quality.

Additionally, I'm not sure what the fuck Arin and RLM would even collaborate on - RedLetterMedia has a very specific span of coverage (movies that are old and bad, or just bad) that Arin has 0 interaction with. RedLetterMedia traditionally speaking, doesn't like video games (Mike nor Jay play or keep up with them, Rich does a little bit, and who gives a fuck about Jack Packard).

Star Wars (Plague's project) is right in RLM's wheelhouse, they've probably got 30+ hours of video content covering star wars alone, plus all of the various parodies and side projects (aka "The People vs. George Lucas"). RLM also collaborates with all kids of people, even very not-powerful people, provided they work in movie media (small time producers, child actors, writers, comedians, etc) and they're willing to adopt to the format (and travel to Wisconsin). For them to not collab with Arin simply means that Arin doesn't have anything worth collaborating on.

Wait that's a different thumbnail!? I was legitimately gonna rate Shady late because I thought he just reposted the other bootleg video. Holy shit is that lazy.

Apparently Ninja Sex Party are asking people to buy pins for 20 bucks a piece (and according to comments 20 more bucks for delivery if you're outside the US) to pay for their music video for some reason

I mean, I can't hate on them for being honest about the "give me money to do the shit I want to do" thing but it does still rub me the wrong way. After getting money from GG, album sales, live shows, youtube etc. suddenly now (at the height of their fame) they're too poor to make a video? Dan, just ask granny to invest more money into your band.

Nah, Shady posted the original bootleg video. I'm talking about the second bootleg video; which has a different thumbnail from the first. (I just got lazy and didn't post the video for reference).

Here it is, for comparison's sake.

I got nothing but red flags from this.

I mean, sure - no one is being forced to buy a pin. However, NSP doesn't mention how much the project is estimated to cost them (a price goal is something that should be shared if you're asking people to help you fund something, right?), and feels like they're low key guilting their fans into helping them out ('this is our dream project! Help us fund our dream project!' just gives off the air of 'if you're a real fan; you'll help out by buying a pin!')

Which begs to question - does this mean if the video is subpar, they can blame the fans for not buying enough pins to fund the best quality video ever?
