That describes every off-site ever. The goons are pretty much divided into smaller cliques. When a clique feels targeted by mods and its people starts getting banned they make an offsite, and all the other goons hoot and cheer and suck the mods dicks for banning the anti-goon scum, until its their buddy that gets banned, and then the cycle begins anew.

Basically all goons hate each other, and only get off on each other being banned, so there is no real reason to make a new site. No one will join except your 10 posting buddies who also got banned

There have been plenty of SA splinter-forums over the years created by various factions that found themselves out of favour. Most disintegrated in explosions of faggy drama after short periods of time. Most successful ex-SA sites aren't forums, like Weird Twitter and the Let's Play community, both of which were born on SA but left due to shit moderation and Lowtax's inability to spot an opportunity if you beat him over the head with it. A lot of the SA posting cliques are on Discord anyway these days.

For SA to implode completely there would either have to be some NeoGAF level wrongthink drama to cause the trannies and IdPol dangerhairs to leave en masse, or for Lowtax to go broke and stop paying the bills. This drama has the potential to cause either in the long-term, but I think the odds are against it this time.

I had an account from 1999, and lost the password to it and couldn't remember what email address I used. Ended up buying an account there. Then the site / forum went to shit. (Thanks Ozma, fistgrrl, IceQueen, et al.) Started tapering off from the forums until I eventually stopped posting and visiting the site in 2012.
