This'll sounds a-loggy, but I'm geniunely surprised that Matt hasn't killed himself. The slock he puts out day in and day out must be so draining. And for so little return.

I don't follow the game awards much, but I thought Dorito Pope was mostly just the face of it.
Either way, Matt's argument, much like Matt himself, is rather benign. The game awards are done via popular vote. Even then, it's just an awards ceremony, so any supposed corruption by any degree wouldn't matter since the only thing the winners get to take home is a trophy and free publicity. I would be concerned about a conflict of interests if it was, say, a political election that had ramifications, but this is just people talking about which video game developer should get a polished rock to take home.

If I remember correctly, the votes from the audience only count for 20%, the rest is done by people from the industry and a selected group of gamejournos.

The video in your screenshot titled "The truth about being commercially viable on Youtube" intrigued me so I decided to give it a watch.
I was really hoping it was going to be Matt giving tips to people on how to be commercially viable on youtube with all the irony that entails
Unfortunately it's just him whiteknighting Youtube, both because he sold his soul for that Silver Play button and because whiteknighting soulless corporations is an instinct well ingrained in his soyboy DNA.
The only interesting insight that I got from the video is the fact that he's still mad about Adblock:
Also worth noting that immediately afterwards he says that Youtube banning people using Adblock isn't true, which means he just brought it up to complain about the extension.
Edit: I think he might be slowly giving up on Youtube. I don't know if he explained why in one of his 5352 videos which I'm never going to watch but his uploads have slowed down a lot. His 2 secondary channels are dead and he went from shitting out three videos per day to 5 or so a week. I think the day he finally snaps and decides to shoot up the nearest Walmart is looming ever closer.
