That is the most hideous thing I’ve seen all day. Handlebar moustaches aren’t a great look at the best of times (the Hulkster’s one of the few people who can pull it off), but that image causes me physical distress. Dude looks like he draped a dog turd across his upper lip.

I really love that little story he tells at the beginning of the video. He spends a few minutes building it up as this big cringeworthy, life-changing event that made him grow out of edgy humor in general, but then it all sums down to "One day I was hanging out with some 16 year olds and they started saying the N-word, I started hyperventilating and was scarred for life".

Was hoping for a "Quinton Reviews: What Went Wrong?"
Disappointed.

I like how since Quinton has such a "deep" and "vast" understanding of "Dr. Who"; this means that he must equate it (without actually saying much) to whatever other TV show may have loosely similar ideas. Now as we've seen with Quinton, outside of his sexual arousal at the sight of "Herbie", or any other franchise he has a deep personal connection with from his childhood. He has these "awakenings" where no matter how good you are, he will find that you "don't say enough" and that's where you go wrong (as my imaginary writer of a show). Although with things that hold sentimental value he praises those films and shows for doing what they are good at and not trying to really dig deep (watch some of his older stuff). These are two attributes of his reviews that are directly contrary to one another, unless you remember he only cares about what they say when he personally doesn't care for it.

This seems a lot like Quinton is attempting to hold film and other media in a sort of weird "double bind".
"Double bind" is, for those who don't know, what happens when someone in "authority" seemingly presents two contrary demands, where no response is appropriate. This is what he has done with both people and the media he consumes. Shows he loves, they may sometimes never say anything, are good just the way they are. If a show falls out of favor with the great Quinton Reviews, then they "don't say enough".
THIS IS A CONSISTENT THEME THROUGHOUT HIS VIDEOS; THE MERIT OF WHAT THE MEDIA IS SAYING IS ONLY RELEVANT IF HE HIMSELF PERSONALLY ENJOYS IT.

And of course it was only a matter of time. Rick and Morty is an "edgy" show, that when it was new people seemed to love, now that the formula has been found out, it has grown stale in Quinton's eyes as well as many others.
Quinton hints in the video that there seems to be a potentially "harmful" philosophy behind Rick and the whole show; though I didn't really catch why he has a problem with a character like that existing and how it could be "damaging"... damaging to who exactly? And before you ask, no i am not watching that garbage "video essay" (his words) again to try to extract a shitty point he made.

Not only does he think way to highly of himself, doesn't feel the need to cite his "research" and continually takes "pride" in his ugly form. I see no other reason for his channel or him to exist outside of making crappy content in order to remind us to be thankful in this holiday season for good content that is actually enjoyable created by people who isn't so self-absorbed who actually give better critique then "If i liked you, we'd be ok; since i don't like you, you should at least say something more about whatever moral you are trying present to your viewers."

Filthy Frank is less fallen than Quinton.
At least Filthy Frank retired and had a good run. Joji is successful and honestly I think the joke of FF had it's impact and helped people like Idubbbz and Maxmoefoe get more notice.

Quinton Reviews however is more like a really drawn out, unfunny joke that just gets more and more desperate to make you laugh at the cost of your time and attention.

There was a great thread on /co/ discussing Quinton's video and Quinton himself. I highlighted these two as I think they're both pretty succinct descriptions of his character.

Someone should do a case study on Quinton.
There's something about him that I can't quite pin down. He seems extremely egotistical, more so than most YouTubers. He's definitely not stupid though, but he's totally bought into the politically correct meme. I would not describe Quinton as smart, just because you have *some* good ideas doesn't make you smart, and that's not even mentioning all the extremely stupid stuff he spouts all the time (I think smugly arrogant is the best way to define it). Also, back when Mumkey Jones was based and not a total pathetic cuck, Quinton had a weird hate boner for him where he'd act all crazy an irrational and send him weird threatening messages all the time. His videos are also ok, but easily go from being watchable to being absolute garbage in a matter of minutes. He suffers from the same thing Nostalgia Critic suffers from, I'd recon to say Quinton and Doug have a lot of things in common, they're practically two sides to the same coin.

His old videos were fairly goodhearted but as soon as he got popular he took on a really mean tone and started really attacking others. It's one thing to tear down a creation, but he would go out of his way to dehumanize the creators as much as possible. I like shitting on Ready Player One, but goddamn his video was just petty. The author is rich as hell so it's not exactly punching down, but Quinton always goes out of his way to attack creators that won't fight back. His videos on trending topics are always way after the dust settles, too.
I think Quinton is someone who was friendless and bullied all his life and now he finally gets to be the bully. He wants to be part of the breadtube bloc because that's all they do: bully and harass others. So, he waits until they form their consensus and then parents it. Look into his eyes sometime. Those aren't the eyes of a thinking man. He says smart things sometimes because it's inevitable that he'll parrot smart opinions. He loves talking down to people, but the coward feels like he needs to have a group to hide in. You can see it in his Last Jedi video, where he dismisses the other side's right to have an opinion by labelling them all a bunch of angry, pop culture obsessed manchildren. You know, people like Quinton.
I've also noticed he's eager to call other people sad and pathetic. In his Ray William Johnson video, he ended it by calling Ray's band reunion the saddest thing ever. Now, Ray's a hack, but that seemed like a meaningful moment. I think yourfavoritemartian is mediocre to bad, but their little reunion performance seemed endearing. Only a person who hopes that others fail would see that and sneer. When he made his horribly misinformed Pewdiepie vs T series video, once again he just had to call Felix sad. Even though the feud was clearly a joke, Quinton leapt at the opportunity to look down on another human being.

TL;DR Look out Chad, Quinton is the bully now

General consensus among the posters was that his weird altercation with Mumkey was what broke him and that he's probably going to jump ship soon and move onto another clique now that Breadtube is taking on water and he failed to score Contrapoints' trussy.

The video is providing a good sense of the mind-numbing boredom and milquetoast that is Quinton so far. Not sure if Q is a good subject to try to analyse in depth, however, it might be hard to stomach the total void of anything. I'll try to make it up to the Contrapoints dicksucking at least.

e: Actually the duration is giving a good framework to his slow descent into disingenuous and deceptive argumentation.

e2: "He then took down his video" has become the motto of this essay so far.

e3: It's actually quite well paced overall. I was considering quitting 15 mins in, but it has picked up through 50 mins so far. It gives a good sense of how the slow shift towards his Virtuous persona is at constant odds with his actual behaviour. I had missed at least half of his many deletions/back-tracks mentioned here. He's somehow making Mumkey look less pathetic, which to me is hard to do. Seeing Mumkey going off on him for being a "lolcow" hasn't aged well, however.

e4: When the Contrapoints video did come up, it wasn't as I had expected - the crown of patheticness as I remember it - but was presented as yet another sad failure of a sequence of far more already. KF was mentioned twice, near the start and again near the end, with the latter specifically mentioning a theory about his abortion of a To Boldly Flee video being a hamfisted attack on his detractors.

e5: I hadn't seen his latest Fallen Titans episode, and based on this video's mini review of it, I'm glad I didn't.

e6: It concludes well too. I'd recommend it if you can handle the boring subject. The creator put more thought into Quinton than Quinton puts into his supposed interests. He avoids a lot of amateur psychoanalysis, but leaves more than enough information to draw your own conclusions. There's some subtle commentary on what a genuinely autistic person Quinton is, and while it hasn't made the logical leap, this insincere 'emulation' of everything he claims to feel, with no sincere feelings would also make this clear. He also doesn't comment further on how seemingly seething Quinton is over everything, with in my opinion incredibly fake retractions over things that other people 'misread'. I tend to view Quinton's personality more negatively than Beige does, as I consider him incapable of empathy beyond what gets him attention (although he fails at every stage to achieve that), and I also find him to be a bundle of passive-aggressive spite concealed in the usual leftist wolf-in-sheeps-clothing fake self-deprecation. Beige's opinion of him being a regular alright guy in a bad situation is described as 'dark' due to how lamentable his personality and content is, but this somewhat empathetic view of him feels a lot darker to me to consider what neurotic and cynical fucks we all must be if any regular person could turn into such an insincere trendhopping friend-abandoning clout-chasing user of people if put into Quinton's situation. That we're too dumb to even learn to like things, to absorb or explain information, or even avoid simply degrading when left to our own devices.

I'm glad this channel is still going and making well-scripted content, as IIRC he dropped a rather alarming video a few months ago regarding his future as a creator. Nice to see it's all on track.

That's the thing with this guy. He's fucking boring. Sure every now and then he spouts some dumb opinion on twitter but 99.9% of twitter is just dumb opinions. His aren't even hot takes, they're just "trump bad" lukewarm takes.

He started off making painfully boring Channel Awesome style videos where he goes frame by frame narrating a dumb movie no one cares about and adding zero insight. Then he got some subs (god knows how) and now spends his time tearing down people who do what he does but better.

I haven't seen his video on Filthy Frank, but I bet it can be boiled down to "I liked filthy frank but now I don't because edgy humor bad but he did something good" to appease everyone and add nothing. He is a net zero.

Man I really wish Mumkey would've been there for the Quinton interview. Emp and Rusty were way too soft on him. It would've been so much different had Mumkey been there
Eh. Without Mumkey there it was boring. With Mumkey one of two things would have happened. Either he wouldn't have showed up or Mumkey would have talked so much so much shit that Quinton wouldn't have enough rope to hang himself.

Most people don't want to believe this, but the truth is that everyone has the capacity to turn into exactly what they hate without necessarily being aware that it's happening, or even realizing that they've changed for the worse after it's already happened. The exact cause and character of such a metamorphosis is going to vary from person to person to some degree but there are common patterns to it along with a sort of guiding logic to the process.

Forgive my ignorance, but whats the fucking deal with his audio that every "S" sound is ear grating. Is he using a shit mic or missing a filter or something?
he ain't no audio engineer.
He's always had this issue with all his videos, he says he has increased production before but I don't necessarily believe it.

He was very Channel Awesome in the early days. My vitriol towards Quinton is because he used to be a shitty Z-list youtuber I enjoyed to watch. I enjoyed his blatant honestly, and the personal, and even relaxing content in the early days.

But he got an ego, and he sees opportunity, which makes me rather sad.
I think he went downhill once he did his "commentary" videos... he sold his soul and got an unhealthy dose of fame.
