I don't know enough about Canadian criminal law to know if it's worth going (or if it's like many places where the first appearance is largely perfunctory) but I wonder if anyone here will be able to go on a little field trip to see how this one plays out.

It's surprising, really, that Yaniv isn't selling items like that department store badge online and wearing his merch everywhere to let those not reading his Twitter know when he's PMSing or having his periods as all girls do.

If I know anything about the Canadian court system his first appearance will last less than 2 minutes and it'll just be an adjournment to ask him if hes paying for his own lawyer or if hes just going through the quick and dirty using duty council. No details will be discussed it's mostly just a "come back later" kind of thing. And that later will probably be another couple months and even then nothing may happen. Unless he just decides to plead out and admit guilt, in which depending on what time of day his case gets heard 99% the most likely case is still an adjournment until sentencing.
The system is so overloaded that if hes out on his own recognizance they'll take their time. Although he also has to be under release conditions right now so any little fuckups could kill him in the meantime until the court sorts it out.

Another issue he may well run into is that if you lie in court that's perjury. It's not like the BCHRT where Cousineau found him to be 'evasive and unconvincing' (aka 'he lied his ass off') but nothing happened to him.

If you use duty council (court appointed lawyer) hes just going to tell Jonny to plead out. It's the easiest and quickest way. I guarantee duty council will tell him this. If he wants to fight it duty council will spend literally 5 minutes on his case cause that's public defenders allotment of time per client and he'll still be found guilty anyways. Hes going to get 1 or probably two years of probation which is the max and a 5 or 10 year weapons ban in tradition of Canadian law.
Also you can use your duty council lawyer to adjourn things if you're planning on hiring your own paid lawyer and that stretches out the case. That's why they call duty council the quick and dirty.

AFAIK, the accused's legal name is in caps, and any aliases are listed below it in lowercase. Therefore he IS going legally by Jessica, but is still known sometimes as Jonathan.

Reality is something I don't think JY is familiar with, as is honesty.
It's obvious he's a pathological liar, with a bad memory of who he told what to.
Also very impulsive with the shit he spews, with no thought to what he's told others.
& the strangest part is he just keeps digging his hole deeper.
I'm sure the court will have access to his threats to use pepper spray & the taser, the cane attack on the reporter, along with his death threats to WGkitty & Donald.
I don't believe he has any support left in the trans community (or anywhere else for that matter)...So the prosecutor has no reason to fear backlash from fronting him off, & would be more willing to pursue perjury charges

I'm still hoping for court ordered counseling or therapy....Then jail when he refuses to go to them.

Didn't he tweet about a female "friend" (they're always friends aren't they) who he shopped with for these items - there is a screenshot around somewhere - he implied she was his (US) supplier.
He's so full of shit I wouldn't believe his tales of being best buddies with the police, he's claimed that the police would never touch him yet here is about to attend court. His delusions about being powerful are just that, delusional.
