I don't think they ever actually got together and compared dead fetus images (outside of anti abortion meetings) though before the advent of the internet. I recall a sudden mess of miscarried fetus shrines popping up alone 10-15 years ago, each a chamber of horrors of gross, dark red, chopped-liver-looking things often dressed in floofy clothes and barely resembling anything human but rather something found on the floor of a slaughterhouse.
