The Slaton Sisters embark on a weight loss journey in TLC‘s upcoming docuseries, 1000-Lb Sisters., to premiere on New Year’s Day.
Amy and Tammy Slaton hope to undergo bariatric surgery — but the sisters, who live in Kentucky, will have to lose enough weight to qualify for the procedure.
Amy, 31, and Tammy, 32, weigh 406 lbs. and 605 lbs. respectively. Amy and her husband hope to start a family soon, but are struggling to get pregnant. Tammy has moved in with them following her last hospital stay and requires their help with everyday tasks.
The sisters, who are also YouTube stars, will be chronicling their weight loss journey throughout the six-part series, documenting doctors’ appointments, healthy eating challenges, and revealing the final decision about their surgery.
“I’m ready to cancel the surgery, I don’t see us going forward with it with the progress you’re making right now,” warns one of their doctors in the exclusive clip.
“In order to get approved for surgery, we need to lose a lot of weight,” Amy says. “I think it’s going to be hard, because we’ll both be grumpy if we don’t eat.”
“I don’t want to live off frickin’ salads like ya’ll want me to,” Tammy says.
The pressure to lose weight appears to cause tension between the siblings in a later scene. “I feels like ya’ll are trying to kick me out,” Tammy says. “It’d be better for us to get separated for a little bit,” Amy responds.
“We started this journey together, but there’s only so much one person can do,” Amy says after an argument where Tammy asks her to “get the f— off my back.”
1000-Lb Sisters will be available on TLC Go on Dec. 20 and will premiere live on Jan. 1, 2020 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
Hurray for the first time anyone has ever called the Slaton sisters little in any capacity. This show is going to be hilarious, and I cannot wait. It shows you the depths that TLC is willing to go. Cable television has been dying for a long time now, and channels like TLC are probably hurting. Fuck, why pay for their fake freak shows when the internet gives me all the tards I can handle for free. In the unlikely event they succeed I will miss Tammy's forehead fat shelf.I for one cannot wait for this to be released to the public. I hope our little baby cows are a huge commercial success.
Why their own series? why not just a visit to Dr. Now and one episode. Do these girls have star quality for an entire series focused on them? you have to be kidding me. I've seen them on youtube in the past, apart from their ''looks'; they are both shy and dull in personality and intelligence. They couldn't engage an audience. At least that big fat fabulous life woman pretended to be perky.

I'm guessing some exec thought it'd be easier for the average pre-existing TLC viewer to digest than Mike's mom's "mayo and cheese" recipe. And it avoids the brand problems of the usual "add one more ingriedent before dumping in the oven" stuff Amy "demonstrated" in the past, or her potato chip taste tests. The "dressed bananas" shit is clearly something TLC has made up to make them endearing. Give me a break!![]()
Got have someone play the heel on tv show. Given how difficult it would be to deal with Tammy and a filming schedule I’m sure the crew had no problem casting her as the villain. It would actually be far harder to make her sympathetic. Amy is the heroine who just wants to lose weight and spawn another Slanton.I was just surprised (kind of) how unlikable they let Tammers come off as. She swears up a storm at Amy (who seems, oddly, reasonable) and just acts a fool. And we at first thought she was the nice one!
People love TLC. It's professionally produced trash at this point. 80% of my guilty pleasure shows are on that channel.
They're still been uploading on their channels. I suspect they'll continue to do so when the show airs. They generally didn't talk about the show, but since they're dumb ditchpigs, they slipped up a few times. But it hardly matters... it's not like they spoiled anything (Except the fact they clearly haven't lost weight).
And it's not their home. They got moved into a duplex months ago, when they started shooting the show. I guess the reality of their roach filled trailers and hoarded out shithole houses were too bleak, even for TLC viewers.
I do not think anything else for this Christmas is a better Christmas gift than this.![]()
