Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

God almighty Iger is exceptional : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiC0VPHYw_s

What even is the point of Disney as a company if they don't want to either make film, shows, games, etc. that is either even somewhat faithful of its origin or to past fans (or both)? That's what your company was built on ffs.

I don't know about you guys. But I read this as "we are going to make our own shit rather then even mention the past trilogy. Could just be an optimistic thought from me tho.

"I just don't get why Disney continues to fuck up Star Wars" I say with my cart full of star wars figures (But only the ones from the OT & PT!)

"The fans obviously hate it, so why do they keep making stuff the fans hate?" I say my pre-order ticket for opening weekend falling out as I take out my credit card to pay at checkout.

"They gave the videogame license to EA and they continue to just make trash. Fallen Order was definitely not worth the $60 I paid for it. I can't figure out why Disney does it." I say, checking my watch and making sure I will be able to get home in time to join my BattleFront II squad for today's game.

"Its just a complete mystery for me, I just can't understand their decision." I say, checking the Disney+ app to see if the new mandalorian episode is out and to confirm my monthly subscription payment went through. "Its like they just expect fans to keep giving them money no matter what shit they produce. I just simply can't understand it."

What is there to be optimistic about Disney retaining the brand? Just leave it alone unless you're actually going to give it to people that know how to write a compelling and interesting story that won't rely on nostalgia and people who will at least listen to fair criticism neither of which won't happen anytime soon.

Pretty much, Disney's already said before that the New-New Trilogy will have nothing to do with the Skywalker stuff so I don't fully understand why people are getting upset that was just reconfirming what they've already said repeatedly.

The desperate pandering Iger's doing in that article is amusing though.

Someone is taking mild praise/something besides unending rage and negativity ITT a little too personally, I think.

Relying on nostalgia isn't necessarily the problem. If they did that more, we could've had Luke, Han & Leia on-screen together in Episode VII, and not as colossal failures! The problem is using nostalgia in a bait-and-switch.

I think this is the only way Star Wars can thrive again. Roll all this shit back (or ignore it) and just go back to glorifying and telling the tales of the OT gang. Plain and simple. I wouldn't settle for less, that's what I want.

I haven't even seen any of it since parts of the first one, which looked pretty good. I'll probably sit down and watch the whole thing at some point. The rest sound super skippable. Nor have I consoomed even a bit of product.

Personally, If I was the head of the Star Wars I wouldnt make trilogies. Just tell stories in the universe. Fuck it, have a real war movie with the Clone commandos. A heist movie with random bounty hunters. Not haphazardly connect them to the trilogies like rogue one or solo. I would go out of my way to not use or even mention any past main characters. Fuck it, we do a Bossk movie now. We will make Bossk the coolest!

Softbois are quantum-gendered, where they are non-threatening, and all characters have both feminine and masculine traits. This allows the (overwhelmingly female) reader to imagine themselves as either side of the pairing, as the Bitch or the Butch. Increasing in the western or globalist world, the "bitch" role allows a female reader to imagine "giving in" to the traditionally feminine roles and urges.
The "butch" role allows the reader imagine themselves as that character where they can be safely sexually aggressive against men without being seen as a slut by society - more importantly by mean girl Becky.

The audience can become either part of the fantasy since the "grass is greener"; either role is free of the societal expectations women are subject to. Additionally characters have none of the hangups of the readers regarding their own sexual characteristics (loldongs) so the softbois can behave as the female readers believe they'd be able to behave as men, and there is no direct comparison to be made between the audience and the characters.

tl;dr Yaoi is popular with women because it allows them to have a romantic fantasy without having to compare themselves to other women, and allows the fantasy to include a character engaging in 'feminine' behavior without societal expectation. Girl on Girl porn is the mirror reflection where it gives men a scenario they can project themselves into without male threat, and allows the fantasy to include a sexually assertive woman without threatening the viewer's masculinity.
Come for the Star Wars mockery, stay for the informative thesis on yaoi and gender dynamics.

So Iger's already planning to either nuke the ST, or going to do a full wipe and just have it be a brand IP... I'm amazed he found ways to get even dumber.
Hold up, didn’t TLJ happened right after TFA? I know I didn’t read Disney’s EU content but I’m not going to be acknowledge pure laziness.
Yeah, it did unless Rey chose to stand there awkwardly, mouthbreathing for a year or two.

They literally are too stupid to stop and think with the shit they say.

He's mocking people who still enable the Rat by consuming product by paying for it. You know, the same people who also hated the Prequels or Lucas' special editions yet still retardedly bought every single edition change in VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray too.

So... I think you in this case since you bought and thus enabled EA.

Rian Johnson really fucked this up. Which begs the question on why no one stopped him? I really dont believe that anyone with half a brain couldnt see what he was doing. Without Rian we could have had something serviceable if not a bit bland. But now we had to leave it up to Jew Jew Abrams to salvage it. I know he is a skilled writer( he did write that spiderman comic after all). But judging by the leaks, not even the the director of the acclaimed director of Star Trek: Into Darkness could salvage this.

That can't happen now since Fisher's dead.

Harold Ramis is dead, but they're still making another Ghostbusters that ignores Paul Fag's entry. Either they get Hamill and Ford to do voices and recast Fisher, or recast all of them with look- or sound-alikes, depending on if they do live-action or animated content.

Let's be honest, it was fucked as soon as Kathleen Kennedy was made the studio head. It's because of her that we got Rian.

That's honestly what I would've done. The galaxy is a big place with countless stories that could be told that don't even need to be connected to one another or even need to take place in the same confined time period and locations Disney has limited it too. As movies, the idea would be a bit risky (at least not as a regular thing, or maybe as made-for-tv or streaming service films), but I definitely would've gone with animated or live-action miniseries or one shots but not in the nature of that godawful Forces of Destiny cartoon, but rather in the same vein as those Galaxy of Adventures shorts on youtube (the show's title is awfully ironic since it just re-explores and neuters the same adventure we've been told a million times without actually exploring a galaxy's worth of adventures). Or better yet something in the same vein as Genndy's shorts or a bit longer. Ranging from simple comedic stories like the rise and fall of the Modal Nodes or something on a bigger scale like a badass fight sequence in a Rattataki arena featuring as many fucked up SW monsters and gladiators as possible while this is blasted in the background.
Just going all out.

TFA was a bland retread, but a bland retread is preferable to what the TLJ was. The best thing that came out of TLJ was exposing who the disney bootlickers were and who had an actual brain when it comes to reviewing movies.

It really is amazing how little the universe has been explored, even if the EU was still in tact. You have the ability to create a star wars version of every single movie in existence. The only work you would have to do is make sure it does run over each other continuity wise, AND not using smug directors that are obsessed with "owning the manbabies" and "subverting expectations".

I guess that explains the uptick in Star Wars traffic I was seeing on Google Trends.
Yeah, a main series Star Wars film -- the most famous film franchise in the world, hands down -- is getting BTFO in online interest by a streaming television show available on only one service that had an incredibly rocky and controversial launch, smack dab in the middle of that film's pre-release marketing surge. The film's opening-weekend tracking is still trending down, and online ticket vendors that aren't owned by Disney are saying it's not meeting sales expectations.

A week or two, I was saying there's a miniscule, but not to be discounted, chance the movie won't break even. But seeing this last round of metrics, I'm beginning to think it may actually happen depending on how much those rewrites, reshoots, and extra effects work inflated the budget. You can figure the movie probably had the same $300m budget TFA and TLJ did, and if it had Solo's level of budget bloat it may well need to make $1.5bn at the box office just to hit break-even.
