Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Honestly, I'd give the Buck Rogers project to a devoted indie filmmaker. Someone who, ya know, knows the source material and actually gives a fuck about it. I'd LOVE a resurgence of the era of goofy retro scifi serials. Buck Rogers is so iconic that even if you know almost nothing about the actual show you still know the name Buck Rogers and instantly associate it with Captain Kirk style space heroism.

God it'd be glorious. Fishbowl helmets and shiny silver space suits, bright flashing buttons on every piece of machinery, no fucks given about cheese levels so long as everyone is having fun, zany villains, scantily clad but still classy women as eye candy, corny one liners and comically expository dialog, random made up word riddled pseudoscientific nonsense.... fuck I miss Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon.
I recall probably ten years ago or so the Trek Fan Film gang with the Elvis impersonator that got Takei and Bester had hooked up with Sony? And was working on a Buck Rogers thing. Guess it didn't work out.

I don't have any new info, but here's some stuff I've seen in the past two days.

Here's some pics of the IX themed safety video on United Airlines I mentioned a few pages back. It's similar to the NZ airlines one that was LoTR themed but less spergy. Nothing crazy/offensive but they're going all in on the shilling. There's a wholeass IX themed plane they've got apparently. Plus posters all down the jetway and terminals. No pics of those. Funnily enough, TLJ was offered as an in flight movie but I didn't see anyone watching it. People opted for that British Indian Bruce Springsteen movie instead.

Took these this morning at a local grocery store. All Star Wars toys are 30% marked down. The blank spaces are all from PT or OT themed toys like Vader masks, Luke action figures, etc. Most of the IX stuff seems pretty untouched. I asked an employee about it and he said I should buy two of whatever I was looking at so they could put up Christmas stuff instead.

The Estate of the creators of Buck Rogers is trying to illegally use the probate courts to take ownership of the IP so they can sell it

Yeah but he isn't that good of an actor. He does have voice acting gigs as a fall back like mark. Also I find the timing really strange. A whole 2 years after the fact? When Mark was speaking out before the film even came out? Something about it rubs me the wrong way.
I'm guessing his character is shunted off to the side, possibly even ignored in the next movie. He wanted to be a major and important character, in TFA it was okay, TLJ solidly put him in "comic relief" territory, and in the Plan 9 script he realized he was never going to be allowed to be the equivalent of Han/Luke/Leia tier character.

So I figure the guy has some bitterness.

Only now has the tide of (open) public opinion REALLY started to turn against the Disney trilogy. Two years ago, it was absolutely NOT safe for one of the headlining actors who isn’t a give-no-shits old man to come out and say this. Now, I’m sure he feels a lot safer speaking his true thoughts, because he’s not the first, or even second or third, to speak out.

Stolen from /tv/ but I thought it was interesting.

Can't say that I blame him, TLJ is so disjointed with TFA that I have to wonder if Rian even seen the latter.

Really, character arcs are recycled, some characters act like different people mere days later, and plot threads go no where.

It's a mess, and I don't blame the actors for not liking it or Rian. I wonder how many others will voice their displeasure...

Didn't see this posted elsewhere in the thread, but here's John Boyega's hot one appearance. That man really deserved better from the sequel trilogy. I wish we had gotten something really taking advantage of his and Oscar's likeability.

I do feel it's a shame Finn wasn't played up as the main protagonist. If he was the one that ended up barely defeating Kylo Ren after he unknowingly discovers he has the force and goes to find Luke, TFA would have been a lot better and plus, he would have had a bigger impact on audiences than Rey did.

Or if they BOTH showed up on Hobo world and Finn convinces Luke to train Rey on the condition he can train him

Boyega's character was a real misstep, people thought Jar Jar Binks was bad, here we have a visible black guy (as opposed to a black guy wearing an outfit so that he can be greenscreened with an annoying creature) playing a bumbling clown who might as well have been named something like Sleep 'n' Eat or Dusky Jones. "Aw lawd, naw Mista Poe, I aint's goin' in dat spooky place, I'ms a scairt o' haints!"

Finn had the most potential for growth in TLJ, and they just had him do the same bullshit as TFA.

I hope all of you are just fucking with me concerning Palpatine coming back. I hope that the trailer is just a goof and in the real movie it is just a hologram where he is laughing about killing Ewoks or something.

I was tripping on acid when I saw Revenge of the Sith in theaters, and when I heard Vader's infamous NOOOO, I thought I lost my hearing, I simply could not believe it, I thought I was having a psychotic break.

If only I could go back in time and tell my younger self to sell all that plastic shit in 1983, and get interested in sports instead. Fuck me running.:stupid:
