I know this isn't strictly Star Wars, but I just got Ryan Johns'ed again with "subverted expectations".
I'm not into DC CW shows, but I gave their current crossover a chance to see Kevin Conroy and Tom Welling. I know some people liked it, and I expect plenty of disagreement, but, let's just say they pulled a " Last Jedi on them".
As a silver lining, I find funny how The Last Jedi is becoming a term for retroactively ruining a beloved character:

Fine, they win.
I don't think my heart can take anymore being baited for nostalgia, only to watch them ruin those fond memories to shill poor quality progressive replacements as they did with Luke.
With the disappointment of the sequel trilogy, and all the other franchises going to hell, if they wanted me to just ignore those woke shows/movies and start watching more anime/manga to fill that void until this woke fad is over, they really won.
Not gonna lie, save for some gems, I've been growing very disappointed with western entertainment as of late. In an ideal world, We would be making theories about episode 9 not cringing at links and watching the ship sink.
Anywho... I promise not to attempt to derail the thread with other franchises.
