When I ordered from Papa John's last night (Something I never, ever do, in the ordinary course of affairs - PJ's pizza sauce is so sickeningly sweet I can't hardly stand it), I noticed something.

They have a field for how you want it cut. Uncut, regular, squares, etc... or clean cut. I had to go to google to find what "clean cut" means, because the ordering page doesn't say.

Apparently it just means they clean the cutter before they cut your pizza, so you don't get the stuff from the last few pizzas on your pizza.

I'm not sure if I find it weirder that some people care that much, or that they're so sensitive to cross-contamination but yet are still willing to order from a chain pizza place.

There was a Mongolian BBQ place in San Diego I would eat at, it was a mall food place, and you got a boatload of food for $10, if you were smart. I'd only need to eat once a day if I ate there, it was great.

I would always ask that they clean the grill before they did my food, because it was usually about 10 customers before they really scrubbed it, and if someone before me got the super spicy sauce I got to have nearly inedible food. I always tipped $10 for this, and one time I saw a new guy start to put my food on before cleaning the grill, and he was almost taken out by the other grill guy. I mean it was a hassle for them, and I know that was over tipping, but hey I got my food the way I wanted it.

I think there's one more on the railway in Slidell, Louisiana, but when I was in and out of the hospital (which was right next door), I would always go to Times and get 'The Goldberger.' It was this massive burger with a huge, fist-width onion ring as big around as the patty, with mushrooms, a garlic butter type of thing on the meat, and swiss cheese. It was amazing, and I remember a few days after my last checkup at the hospital, the joint closed. It's a viet/mex fusion and bar now.

KFC Twister wraps were one of my favorite quick lunches if I was out running errands and wanted to grab a bite. Don't even particularly care for KFC that much, but these were delicious.

Times Grill, hey, yeah, I've actually eaten at that other one in that old train depot in Slidell. Pretty damn good burger, though I did have to make the waitress explain to me what the fuck a "doodad" is.

They aren't really discontinued. They are just so damn hard to find that I think they may be seasonal. But I have no idea. I assumed they were discontinued until they popped back up again in the summer. Now I can't find them again. Tastykake Bells.

It's pretty much an upsidedown cream filled cupcake covered in chocolate. They used to be a lot taller and I was totally disappointed this year. Then again all the Tastykakes are a lot smaller now.

So they don't look as much like bells anymore. But I want some and no store has them around here. Apparently you can get them in the family size box. But I have never seen them. What the hell neighborhood do I have to go to? I refuse to believe the box is real unless I see it in the wild. I am not paying $6 to ship a local product to my door that I should be able to find two blocks from me.

My favorite food as a tween was Hormel's Frank n Stuff Chili Dogs

The filling had a nice cheesy, chili taste. They discontinued the dogs because some smoothbrains nuked them for too long and burned their mouths on the filling. This is why we can't have nice things.

Merrimints were a type of candy produced for the longest time. It was the type of thing that Grandmas like to buy and set out for their grandchildren, only instead of being horrible abominations of nature like Brach's peanut butter filled hard candy, these were actually delicious. They were the smoothest damn thing I've ever tasted.

The mints were discontinued in the 80s, then briefly re-continued in 2016, then they fell off the face of the earth again:

This website has a recipe which you can use to duplicate the mints, although I haven't tried it yet. Seems simple enough though.

I really liked them as a kid, so I was eager to pick some up for a party about a month ago. I couldn't find any so I settled for the Utz ones instead, which I hadn't tried before.



They tasted the way I remembered the Planters ones tasting years ago, so I was very surprised to find when I actually tried the Planters ones about a week ago, that they suck. I don't know if they're worse now or if they were always that bad, but they are definitely inferior to the Utz version.

I loved Fruitopia's Kiwiberry Ruckus flavor, and I've never found anything that even comes close to tasting like it.

There used to be a Girl Scout cookie called "Golden Nut Clusters" that I really liked, they were kind of like pecans and caramel with a butterscotch coating. Everyone else hated them but me, and apparently they were only around for two years.

Also, Taco Bell seems to have discontinued my beloved caramel apple empanadas, which were basically like the old fried version of McDonald's apple pies. Damn them.
