Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Yall want to know something sad?

At this point I genuinely have more hype and optimism for the future of the Ghostbusters franchise than I do for Star Wars after seeing that 6/10 passable reboot trailer....

....and I have never seen fucking Ghostbusters movie

Seriously. I never saw Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, the Ghostbusters cartoon, or even the cringtastic shitshow of 2016. This is a franchise I have absolutely zero emotional or nostalgic attachment to, and hell even pop culture osmosis has failed to imbue any knowledge of the films onto my psyche. If you pulled a gun to my head and ordered me to tell you everything I knew about the film, I would only be able to sputter out some shit about a giant marshmallow man being at the end.

Even a franchise I have zero interest in or knowledge of, a franchise that has already been run into the ground and covered in shit by shitty #woke hacks, a franchise that I will never fucking hold any warm childhood nostalgia for....is more engaging than fucking Star Wars

Seriously disney....dafuq have you done?

Ghostbusters fanboy here. Its too early to say anything about Afterlife just yet but I can feel like it will respect the legacy MUCH better than the 2016 movie, hell, I do see the movie also as a proper tribute and farewell to Harold Ramis (since the movie does seem to revolve around him and his legacy). Thats the thing, I didnt feel like this movie was insulting me from the get go, it can still suck indeed but Im willing to give it a chance. Oh and the fac it confirms to the adult-children from Twitter that GB 2016 truly was a failure from every point of view that they are actually being forced to do something that appeals to the fans (shocker, I know), tho if you ask anything about the 2016 movie to them you can bet they wouldnt know (since they didnt watch it because they lack both passion and moneh). I expect Afterlife to be something on the level of GB 2, it wont match the original but it will have way more passion and care than the 2016 version thats for sure...oh and the fact its appealing to people with money, there will be obvious finantial benefits.

Disney made something aimed at the wrong people while making sure the core audience felt hated upon just for existing...so the core audience left....and gasp! Its called the CORE audience for a reason you god damn lunatics...so now the whole thing is crumbling and the younger generations dont care for SW unless somehow convinced and introduced to the old stuff. Man, the younger shits have nothing in terms of franchises and idols...Im really feeling sorry for them (also dont fucking say they have Marvel, that shit is slowly crumbling and they arent real cinema).

Well here’s more nostalgic pandering.

Honestly I think the answer is sadder than we thought

These people weren't even bribed by fucking swag bags to shill shit....they do so just because its fucking fashionable in their cliques to do so because it "OWNS DA BIGOT NURDS WHO HATE IT BECAUSE IT SUBVERTS EXPECTATIONS AND HAS WAMMEN".

They shill for free and because they think it improves their "brand" among other worthless twitter cunts who are emotionally invested in disingenuous woke-edgy groupthink.
The fact that shilling for a megacorporation's latest soulless shit is seen by some weapons grade dumbasses as 'counterculture' and 'brave' is honestly one of the hardest parts of Clown World for me to understand.
Well here’s more nostalgic pandering.

Dune uses ideas from so many different nonfiction sources it's kind of fascinating in it's own right.
Yeah Dune was inspired in a great part by a fairly obscure novel called The Sabres of Paradise which was about a 19th century Muslim jihad against the Russian empire in the caucuses, which makes sense once you think about all the pseudo islamic schtick with the Fremen and the overtly russian named Vladamir Harkonen.

Heck a lot of memorable quotes from Dune are lifted near verbatim from that book, to the point where it kinda veers into straight up plagiarism

They could have at least made the ROS logo resemble the classic RoTJ one, jesus, they couldnt even do nostalgia pandering properly!

Which reinforces my point that we shouldnt be comparing and going around pointing out influences from older pieces of work. Instead we should be comparing and going around pointing out shameless lazy plagiarism from newer pieces of "work".

Minor quibble: Harkonen is actually a Finnish surname.

I have minimal enthusiasm for the new Ghostbusters movie (it doesn't feel quite right tonally, it's a bootleg Goonies, given the trailer clues, and wokery may be afoot soon), but this is still better than me actively hoping Episode IX is as fucktarded and awful as the leaks claim it will be. Because I'm willing to give it more time and even time in theaters before I give a verdict, unlike Star Wars.

This keenly displays how shit JarJar Abrams is at ripping off the things he sees. It looks slapdash and shit, the fighting stances look terrible and convey nothing, the Kylo mask in the backdrop is overly detailed and ruins the old time propaganda style poster, and the goddamn title doesn't fit well composition wise.

Also he can eat shit and die; the former WAS the end.

What a crock. Do these marketing assholes honestly think that the emotional weight of two poorly-defined semi love interests is equal to a father fighting his own son?
It's also worth noting that in the ROTJ poster, Luke's and Vader's stances could almost have been lifted directly from an old swordsmanship manual, whereas Reylo are just gracelessly flopping around like a couple of kids armed with pool noodles.

So, it was really unfortunate The Last Jedi was the subject of a Russian disinformation campaign that caused fans and the actors who starred in the movie to hate it. Really unfair for Johnson that so many people didn't like the movie, because of the Russian bots.Istill can't believe that someone actually wrote a research paper claiming that people criticizing Rian Johnson on twitter were Russian bots, citing stuff like not having avatars or having poor grammar/spelling as evidence. or that the media and Rian Johnson actually ran with it .

Also, it is always a good sign for a trilogy that's theoretically supposed to have some kind of story arc that the two directors who worked on it seem to hate and specifically tried to undermine each other. It's a sign of a souless cash grab that the DIsney people had no real idea of what to do with the films besides "Uh, here's the characters, have them do, you know, actions and dialogue and such."

Personally I think people are starting to freak out because this is the actual closest thing you can get to having the movie objectively be bad with no ground for debate. Even more so then "objective" critique like Mauler. If even the actors are shitting on it, you really can't defend it. People picked TLJ as a hill to die on, but it turns out the hill was a mirage.

Russian espionage then: "We must kill Moose and Squirrel!"

Russian espionage now: "We must troll women and people color Star Wars fans!"

What happened?

Guy who turned company into a media monopoly and destroyed both a beloved franchise and major studio the company didn’t need to own has been named TIME’s businessman of the year.
Times is complete and utter shit though; they named one of the fake Ukranian leakers that you know is a former Dem staffer their Person of the Year too.

Left:
1. Painted by Drew Struzan.
2. Luke and Vader's sabers are clashing in an intense pose.
3. Vader's mask imposing in the background - we now know Vader is Luke's father, and last time Luke faced him he was decisively beaten.
4. Revenge of the Jedi? What story implications does that title have? Is Luke a full Jedi now? Is he bringing back the Order? Will he kill Darth Vader?
5. The saga continues - might not be over yet, anything could happen.
6. Decorative font.

Right:
1. Photoshopped by an intern.
2. Kylo and Rey are flailing around.
3. Kylo mask in a hunched over position - what's the significance?
4. What does this franchise have to do with Skywalker anymore?
5. The saga concludes - bleak finality.
6. THIS IS THE BRAND.

The go-to response to that is...

TIME Magazine made both Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin (TWICE) Person of the Year, so....yeah their opinions don't count.
