Horrorcow Zoe Quinn / Chelsea Van Valkenburg / Locke Valentine / @UnburntWitch / @Primeape / CrashOverride / Hat Box / Old Uncle Anime - Con Artist, Abuser, Sexual Harasser, Drove Alec Holowka to Suicide.

She's always asking for money. Life's not easy when your best friend can sell her body all she wants but you look like too much of an aging Ashkenazi to stand on a street corner.
I know she explicitly stated that she quit gaming activism a few months ago because there's no money in it, which shows her priorities.

This explains why $camkessian came crawling out of the woodwork to bitch and moan about The Mandalorian - she wanted to draw as many eyeballs to her latest grift. Anita needs to refill her coffers now that she's tapped out her Kickstarter cash and the Patreon bucks dried up.

I bet Chelsea is going to be steaming mad at seeing her ex-partner in UN crimes trying to copy her schtick.

Wasn't she asking for money because gaming was starting its own #MeToo movement or something a few days ago?

I think this would have launched earlier if it hadn't been for Zoe's accusations against Alec Holowka blowing up in her face and derailing the #MiiToo movement that Anita and others were attempting to kick-start.

It strikes me as somewhat desperate and unimaginative. Feminist Frequency attempted to branch into other areas and nobody cared, so Anita's gone back to what she knows. Fanning the flames of outrage for money. She's standing on shaky ground. The culture that ignited her initial success is on the wane. Another suicide resulting from unfounded allegations will bring unwanted scrutiny.

Its pretty telling that almost no one in her Mandalorian bitch thread agreed with her. Literally no support from anyone meaningful. What gets me though is that it was a shit show to pick fights with. Disney have made it pretty obvious that Stong Woman™ would be showing up sometime real soon, all it takes is for an imdb check and to, you know, look at the marketing for the show.

The "nerd girl" scene, whether it's video games, comic books, DnD, whatever is full of predatory grifter women, mentally unstable women, and massively egocentric women who are used to being a big fish in a small pond, and most of them have no career or domestic skills whatsoever. And the women who aren't like that are taken. Or fat, which if you're into that more power to you, just keep in mind that fat chicks can also fit in the above categories of awful.
Not to mention women literally only joining said fandoms so they can project their masturbatory fantasies onto them. It's why the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Mad Max, and Alien are such easy targets for them, with women having as strong a presence in all three as they do. It's either that, or gay ships that don't really make a lot of sense, or even if they do, only do so because of some vaguely bro-mantic overtones in every scene they share together.

I think you might be confusing 2 different things here (or my reading comprehension is shit).

It is no real mystery why the more SJW type people got into gaming. It's the David Gallant situation of seeing indie devs and the rise of game culture, and wanting to get in to the cool kids clubhouse. There were no barrier to entry beyond the ability to make a game due to the then new services of Steam, Xbox Live Arcade, and easy to use engines like Unity, Game Maker, and XNA.

This same lack of barriers is also why you had hack writers who can't sell a novel or a screenplay come rushing to games. This was at a time when Roger Ebert was writing lengthy blog posts about how games were not art and could never be art.

As for the vindictiveness. Assuming they weren't bad people before, getting slapped in the face by reality would have done it.
No, that's another angle I've had yet to consider sometime down the line, that's great insight, Dredd. You also are on key with them being slapped in the face by reality.

What made you quit?
While I did have plans for gameplay, and wanted to create an action RPG with more emphasis on action, player interaction, and with a beat em up feel, I realized that I wasn't ready in terms of programming skill nor being knowledged with other kinds of RPGs and games. I also was more story orientated, and not wanting players to be bogged down with another JRPG like story orientated game with a linear sense of progression nor a team bogged down with an overbearing director who had a definite vision for the story, I spared everyone that experience by focusing a bit more on storytelling and other sequential media. I also was a horrible planner in terms of time management and providing results, but it was a fond time to look back on for me. Most of the team left amicably on their own ways for greener pastures, and I hope they're doing well. I still have an itch to want to make a video game like the one above, but something more open world, and something that combines JRPGs with WRPGs, like Tales of Phantasia meets Elder Scrolls. My team for the most part was fine, being around other devs online was what let me see how others who were less wholesome were like.

This is going to be Bully Hunters and Crash Override Network all over again. At least the comments are hilarious.

Will Steel Series get on this too or is the gaming scene finally given up on this herpy?

Personally I like the show and I thought I'd hate it due to Disney's track record with Star Wars. Gina Carano was a nice addition to it. Ming-Na Wen felt wasted though.

I very much agree. Its easily one of the best Star Wars things in recent times. The characters seem to be written well, we're getting lots of well directed scenes, and lots of just general star warsy goodness.

Moving from project to project, from person to person, shows just how fucking easy it is to latch into an industry if you have no real talent.

True. Anything with a human element will always have a chance of being exploited/undermined/what-have-you. Much like how "Nigerian princes" use a target's greed to scam money, Zoe's exploiting beta thirst to keep herself afloat with low-effort but I guess decent-paying jobs.

Weirdly they're not wrong, just not in the way they'd like. it's instructive that Gamergate is heavily mentioned in the discussion because the game itself has very little of note.
If anything Depression quest shows the increasing distance between traditional game reviewers and the consumer. Because I've only ever meet one other person whose ever heard of depression quest and I've yet to meet someone whose played it.

This is why game journalism died a decade ago. You can't trust any of those idiots. Yet Kotaku is the ones currently bitching and whining about the Video Game Awards because the guy behind it is friends Kojima.

Yet they were mysteriously silent about all the incestous circlejerks in the indie game awards scene...
