So does Phil actually have to show up at court in Conneticut for this? He's gonna lose regardless, but can he lose less if he shows up and doesn't get a default judgement?

Definitely; Even past the fact not going prevents his side from making any possible argument in his favour, I also doubt courts like being snobbed and having their time wasted like that.

Somewhere between "moderately fucked" and "dead man walking".

If the foreclosure goes through he will be liable for about $35k on the mortgage (balance on the mortgage less value of the condo) and his credit will be hot garbage for the next 7 years (length of time the foreclosure stays on his record).

What we don't know is, how much money does he/do his parents have to throw at this problem? "How much is Phil actually lying about his money problems" has always been the billion dollar question on this subforum and I think we are about to find out-like the posters above me mentioned, they're going to get the full amount out of him somehow. Anything he can't pay up-front will be paid through a payment plan or garnishment.

Nah, we don't have to worry. 15-20k he'll beg from his pigwhales and the rest has to be covered by papa Burnell. The old fart doesn't need the money anyway because he's old, ok? Or even better he claims for bankruptcy and let his elders pay the whole monty. The old farts don't need the money anyway because they're old, ok? The pigwhales meanwhile can cover for his Wahshingtn bills.

A 10 year legacy could be about to end, him streaming from his parents house would be amazing.
Streaming like an incel? I like the idea. Wouldn't bring an end to the ten year legacy though if he still continues streaming.

I'm not sure how much him being there would help really. What he owes is what he owes, right there in black and white. The bank isn't gonna say "Hey thanks for taking time out of your super busy schedule, we know you had a haircut and your wife was due for a grooming. Anyway, seeing as how we're huge fans of your content and 11 year legacy, well take 20% off what you owe us since you really didn't do anything wrong, actually, you did everything correct! It's just these idiot moron owners of ours need that money, they really do!"

Hopefully the place is such shithole that the value drop and he has to fork over more money, if that is a thing.

I remember him complain his aunt didn't clean or anything when she was living there, I bet there is still clutter and shit thats just been sitting there all these years.
doesn't it have a huge hole in the roof?

Parental intervention at this point seems unlikely. Even just 30K is potentially 6 months' salary to bail out your fuck-up son, again, and its at a point in your life where you're trying to finalize your retirement. At some point I have to imagine the people who made DSP into DSP will cut him loose and save themselves.

There's no way his parents would have agreed not paying his mortgage was a good idea, so I think he's going to hit them up to save him at a point where he can skew the truth favorably for himself. If he does, I think that'ls it for ma and pa Burnell bailing him out. Phil's Ten Year Plan was really about 9 months.

On the CWC timeline, this reminds me of the Snyder Incident where they ended up squandering all the money Bob left them on legal fees almost immediately after he died. He'll get out of it, but the damage going forward will mount faster and faster.

this one always got me
"WELL ITS NOT A LOT OF MONEY"

Bitch! a bit of money in your pocket is better than a lot of money leaving your pocket

and this voidhead thinks he can run a business?

I think in his head he thinks he’d have to pay some management company a bunch to take care of it for him and rent it out, so it would be a wash in his head, though that doesn’t make sense on a number of levels. First of all, even if it made him $5 like you said it’s still $5 more than nothing, and his retired parents live within fifteen minutes of the place so why couldn’t they manage it. I can’t imagine they’d demand more than a property management firm.

He’s likely too lazy to spend the time figuring it out so he’s choosing to bomb his own credit instead of spending a couple hours on the phone, since he’s talked in the past about trying to talk to a firm and it being a “hassle”, or the stories about the hole in the roof and such are true and the place is totally unliveable, which would mean the bank is just going to fuck him that much harder.

Is there any fellow detractors in CT that could attend the case date? Regardless if Phil goes or not, whatever goes down will be interesting to hear.

No. There was a unit near it that did, but as far as anyone has determined, his unit was unscathed.

Pretty much anything interesting will be in public record, I think.

The hole in the roof was on the other side of the building. The side facing the parking lot. Phil's condo faces the back yard. Also the hole was in the roof from a fire in the third floor. Phil's unit is on the ground floor. This probably had no effect on his actual unit.

Although if we can believe the guy who put the "home of the pigroach" sign on his door, the whole building smells like mold and mildew.

Nah, I don't think they can take his current home. I'm pretty sure there's laws in place that prevent you from being made homeless if you have to declare bankruptcy or get foreclosed on. It's like the IRS. They don't want to put you in jail for not paying shit, they want their money, and they can't get their money if they remove the means of you paying them back.

They'll take two grand a year over the next 30 years and then seize whatever they can when you die before they let you try and just wipe away the debt. You can't just go and declare bankruptcy whenever you want, there's all kinds of criteria you need to meet.

$15k? Well, that's the December begathon amount, plus an extra 15% for fees and Phil to put a little bit away. And by put away I mean to spend on frivolous shit to keep his soul-maid around. I was wrong about the Rambo bait shit, though, so who the fuck knows.

You're right but we have to remember he's making $80k+ a year. I assume they will want a payment schedule for the remaining amount (which could be $50-60k which will probably basically mean he still has a condo sized mortgage payment to make anyway).

If he fails this I assume they would come for his house and argue that a man who makes as much as he does with 2 mortgage sized bills removed from his monthly expenses can afford to pay for a rental somewhere and therefore would not be homeless.

Banks foreclose people who only have 1 home all the time, they don't really give a fuck... They go after broke people with no means to pay. Phil does have means to pay he's just awful with money and has everything on credit.

Doesn't look like he's received the demand for payment yet.

It strike anyone else as weird that the demand letter hasn't been delivered in almost 3 weeks? Makes me wonder if they tried to deliver it, which I believe requires some form of signature, and Phil hasn't accepted it (by virtue of refusing to answer the door during streaming). Also added the link for tracking to the OP.

I thought the same thing, but I believe if there is an attempt to deliver it'll note that in the tracking history.

Your package is moving within the USPS network and is on track to be delivered to its final destination. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

Not sure what's taking it so long.

I did see that there's no unit number on the address. I would assume that the mail carrier would be able to put 2 and 2 together on it, but maybe that's the issue?

That does sound like Phil. Just ignore it and it will go away. Or he was too busy busting his ass working to answer the door. Or he's too lazy to answer the door.

I always assumed that that type of stuff was delivered by a courier. Court summons and documents usually require someone to receive in person so that it is verified delivered. I have not had to deal with foreclosure, but my father was summoned and a guy in plain clothes delivered to me after asking my name (we share the same name). Maybe he just has to sign for it?? But still, the man never leaves the house. The fact that it's Christmas time could be delaying the package.

It was indeed in April right after the Marriage. Here's the Quote:
"...as of now, my primary focus is this house and paying this mortgage, and keeping the bi- the electricity and all that on. Whether that means that my credit gets permanently destroyed, because I'm not paying the mortgage in Connecticut or I'm not paying, or I'm not paying credit cards or whatever it may be, so be it. Because this is the important thing."

He also said that the CT condo being foreclosed would be a tremendous financial burden off of him because it would be out of his name.
God damn that video is good. I mean I knew what he was saying at the time stuck out as a bad idea but now it's basically evidence in a court proceeding. Good job DSP. Thanks for posting that video @WeeblesWobble , I saw that thing when it came out but I doubt I could find it again.

Sweet timestamp for everyone:

Edit another fun timestamp "You're fucked, you're not getting any more money from me" LOLOLOL:
