Leftist is a very old term. New Deal Dems of the 1930’s were the “old left” once the hippies of the 1960’s became the “new” and “the radical left.”

Because of the association with the well known “new and radical left” of the 1960’s political factions invented new labels in 1990s to put distance between the communist sympathetic “old left” and “bomb thrower new left” by using progressive, liberal, etc...

I’d prefer to describe myself as a leftist because now it’s not tainted with the identity politics of “progressive,” nor the hate of free speech and the working class that the term liberal now has.

Yeah I've always been what you could call a "leftist" as well, but the thing that matters the most to me is the truth and my friends on the right seem to have the monopoly on it right now.

The saddest shit in the world is the inability to critically look at the desire to curb free speech and what amounts to wrongthink and not see that people were trying to do the same shit to them once upon a time. I can't hate these tards because I still think that if they actually went out and spoke to the people who they revile, they'd realize that they're just as motivated by fear and just as eager to fix things so we can all survive and dare I say it, get ahead.

I think my trawling of UKMT has run its course for now. To close things up, I went and screenshotted the thread's reaction to the exit poll dropping on the 12th. They made 400 posts over the course of about a half hour, and the majority were wails of despair sprinkled with calls to violence. Read in numerical order; I screwed up the upload order and don't want to upload 30+ megs to the server again.
