That was a liberal translation done by Yen Press, as is all the other "evidence" fans tout. AFAIK Yana Toboso herself has never said anything about him being transgender, plus she writes Grell as a stereotypical okama (gay man)/drag queen.

Yeah, Yana Toboso has said that Grell is a trans woman and not a crossdresser. In fact, iirc that's why she became half of Jack the Ripper, with the other half being Madame Red: both are women who cannot have children and resent those who do but get abortions instead.

The "art" is still terrible, though. Neither Grell nor the other guy whose name I can't remember deserve this shit.

i think what's most off-putting about these kinds of drawings (aside from blatant disregard of a creator's design and canon) is how very plainly self-masturbatory it is.
looking at this stuff just feels....dirty.

What is with this obsession with making characters that are obviously not trans, trans? More specifically Non-Binary it's like every edgy young artist online is NB yet puts she/them, he/them most of the time I don't think I could ever understand this whole Non-Binary thing also idk if I said this already but why is it mostly women & young girls doing this?

If you're a dumb teenager who is already going through dumb teenager shit and then someone tells you "I'm a girl because I feel like a girl" and you ask what that means and they say something like "I'm a girl because I like X." and you don't like X, then you'll think "Well I don't feel like a girl. I guess I'm nonbinary"

logically? no, that doesnt make too much sense. but i guess since it is an series from japan? they tend to stick with the familiar. anyways the art is pointless and unappealing, but i think we all knew that
