Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I wanted to put a post about how irrelevant the new trilogy makes the original trilogy despite sucking it's cock, but I realized something better: You could write out the entire original trilogy out of canon and replace it with a few major events and, not only will the plot make more sense, it will only require few edits and make the new trilogy look better purely by not ruining the established lore.
Instead of the OT:
1. Luke, Leia and Han cooperate with the rebellion.
2. Luke kills Vader and the "Emperor".
3. The empire fractures and the first order remains, with the new republic being one of the other factions of the old empire.
4. The new order tries to cover up the death of the emperor and pretend Snoke was always the emperor.
That's it. You only lose Vader's arc.

Here's IO9s article. I'll include a quote from the author in the comments.

I assume it’s review embargo related, but dropping the reviews at 3 AM definitely feels like an, uh, interesting choice on behalf of Disney.

Woke up this morning and took a look at the RT score. 56% ... Rotten.

I guess the shills figured this movie was their last Star Wars red carpet premiere to attend for a while, so they felt they could give an honest review this time around. Not even they can force themselves to attempt to polish this TURD.

Clips of pretty much every major thing in the final act, complete with easily the cringiest fucking lines to ever darken the franchise
Fans: "The stuff Rose says to Finn at the end of TLJ is the dumbest shit ever said in Star Wars, including 'I hate sand' and anything Jar Jar Binks ever said."
JJ Abrams: "Hold my Manischewitz!"

I’d really like to know why you’re so upset over my purchases. Like the edit says, I made these ticket purchases well before this review fiasco. I’m not a shill for a major company, I’m someone who likes to go to the theater and watch the occasional movie. If the movie is as terrible and filled with SJW or whatever as everyone proclaims, I’m going to affirm it.

Most theaters do not honor refunds on tickets, so what the fuck am I supposed to do - not see it? They’ve already got my money, so might as well have a few drinks and make the best of a “bad” situation.
It was blatantly obvious that this movie would be troubled at best and an utter shitshow at worst. What we got is an utter shitshow. We were warned months in advance. "But I bought the tickets before the reviews were out" my ass. The writing was on the wall since TLJ came out.

Let me put it like this: Did you enjoy TLJ? If so, then buying tickets is sensible. You are entitled to your own opinion and you can enjoy whatever the hell you like. I don't care. I mean, I don't understand how anyone could enjoy a crippled mess of a plot with inane subplots that lead nowhere, a poor structure, annoying characters and absolutely nothing interesting happening over the course of >2 hours, but you know, none of my business.

But when someone knows that a product is going to be shit (or at least should be aware of it having a very high chance of being shit) and he still falls over himself to throw his money in the furnace that is a heartless, mindless, passionless company like Disney as quickly as possible, then I do call that person a fucking idiot.
You could have done the unthinkable and wait before buying tickets. You could have waited for camrips to check out a snippet of the movie and then decide if you want to buy a ticket or not. But nope. You had to throw your money into the maw of Disney for a lackluster, shitty product.
Without trying to be overly dramatic, but people paying money for products that they hate is why shit that no one likes is being made. Sure, there's also a bunch of people with shitty taste that enjoy -say- Adam Sandler movies with all their fart- and poop-jokes.
And you know what? Buying a ticket to a movie that you hate makes you dumber than that Happy Maddison crowd of fans, cause they at least pay for the shit that they enjoy.

OK so holy duck I'm not goingback 50 pages. Did anything special happen besides the leaks being confirmed?
Yes. Everything is far worse than we thought and the reviews are all saying its shit or hating the film for being fanservice despite having nothing a fan would want.

So here's a dumb question.

Are the critics giving negative reviews because they legit thought it was bad or because it went against The Last Jedi, which was the progressive Holy Grail film that they gave a 90-something% to?

Maybe both? They thought it was bad, but only because it went against The Last Jedi and that was enough to activate their NPC brains?

It's not that you lack talent. Lacking talent should not bring you shame. But possessing talent and refusing to use it? For shame, Disney. For shame.

I know that Rogue One gets a lot of shit ... And I'll be the first to say that there's SO much about it that should have been changed.

I'll also be the first one to say that this Vader scene could easily be seen as "pandering to the fans." At least ONE of the directors for Disney Star Wars had the fans in mind, though. This scene is still fucking rad. Too bad Disney decided to change most of Gareth Edwards' movie.

Theres posts already of people actually saying it sucks because "it panders to muh misogynerd fuckbois" even though its an absolute mess nobody would want.

Got it from /wsg/, Ashoka's voice was used.

Edit: Also here's Rey's parents
View attachment 1056888

So, lets follow the logic, parents that clearly loved Rey and tried to protect her: she honors them by taking the last name of a man she barely knows?

The Rey Skywalker stuff is so wrongheaded, its flabbergasting.

The general idea is fine, but that would take a different trilogy to make an adopted Skywalker work...

As it stands, Rogue One turned out the best of the Disney Star Wars movies.

It has its flaws, but at the very least, it felt like an old EU novel brought to life, which is something I never thought I'd see in a Star Wars movie. And I liked the old war movie/Dirty Dozen style approach to it. And at least it didn't hurt anything preestablished, and even works as a neat little companion piece to the original film.

I've watched Rogue One more than any of the other Disney Star Wars films, and I've watched ANH immediately after each time, so there is at least something there that kind of works.
