Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Disagree HIGHLY.

On the point of "This is how you portray a strong female leader who has flaws but pulls the literal world together in a time of crisis" yes she nails it.
Hol up, someone here is trying to shit on The Expanse?

That's the only sci-fi show out right now that's actually good. Depressing, but good.

Look how happy and proud they are to be watching this mess

Why does this whole thing feel like the 2016 general election all over again
There's also the whole impeachment shit going on today and Disney releasing the reviews at this time hoping political nonsense would cover their asses. It all does feel awfully similar to 2016 in retrospect at least in terms of reaction and passions. Also anyone thinking this shit won't get a reboot eventually is deluding themselves. A reboot was going to happen in the next 10 or 20 years regardless of how the films performed because Hollywood just lacks that much creativity. Hell, WB implies that we're even getting a fucking Harry Potter reboot despite those films ending just a few years ago. Even if everything had gone without a hitch, after the 2022 trilogy came and went, Disney would still reboot shit because they're not only creatively bankrupt, but just plain greedy. And a reboot is probably going through their mind now more than ever since China doesn't want anything to do with Disney Wars.

The absolute state of media.

Wow, same angle and shit as Han Solo, but with Wedge in the turret... For fucking's sake JJ, there's more to a movie than just mimicking visuals.

The higher ups demand that all futures be woke and all females be SLAY QUEEN. It's only natural that science fiction stops being about science or how it affects society, and becomes an undigestable goop about how AWESOME it would be if Trump wasn't in office.
And to think I once believed that SG1's Samantha Carter (who I did like and still do, her dialogue was just horribly clunky whenever it went "yay girl power") was the worst it could get. Oh, 90's era feminism seems so quaint now.

Rogue One is the only good Disney Star Wars movie change my mind.
I 100% agree. People shit on Rogue One, and it to be sure has flaws (with DEATH STAR AGAIN being chief among them), but Rogue One felt like an old WW2 Dirty Dozen movie set in space. That was what Star Wars was always meant to be, but in my opinion the Jedi and Force aspect took over like a cancer. There's a place for the Force in Star Wars, don't get me wrong, but there's also a place for a movie about non-Force wielders too and that's the niche that Rogue One fills extremely well. If you wanted a war movie set in the Star Wars universe, you got it.
I don't know what audience the Sequel Trilogy was made for, though. You'd think that with their experience with the MCU they'd have a clear vision for what each film is about, but instead it seems to be about how Richard Nixon returned from the grave in the form of Donald Trump (that's my hottake, negative rate me away) and how the liberal resistance must rise up to defeat him. And ultimately the truth is that this very by-the-numbers political """""subtext""""" is trite and overdone. There are far bigger villains in our lives than moderate democrats that run as republican to get elected. Like a mass media that seeks to influence our political decisions and turn fanbases into religious cults, for example. Why not make a movie about that?

It's not so much that it's a cashgrab, it's more that it's a really badly made, thinly veiled, ineptly executed cashgrab that fails to be the least bit entertaining if you're actually trying to enjoy the movie itself rather than the carnage surrounding it.

Daisy Ridley's acting makes it almost impossible to tell that she's supposed to be dead, tbh. Her acting is so wooden, she might as well be a plank of wood.
Also, looks like Maz Kanata is back, and she acts as nurse for Leia, when she dies and vanishes (so, she's a Jedi master after all)
5 minutes to watch through that trash that i'll never get back. I've never seen a more forced romance since The Room.

Also, Kylo being thrown away like trash:
Palpatine in spanish is still an awesome sight to behold!

You know, it’s kinda impressive that in one decade Star Wars went from being near indestructible and having some quite good content(although some of it was quite shit) to being hated by fans, failing at the box office and having a movie so desperately cobbled together that even the shills hate it.

Well done Disney, you fucked a 4 billion dollar investment.

Half the people who worked on this gonna need some of those Welfare Cheques by this time next year
She won't get kicked. She'll be promoted to a higher paygrade but shuffled into an area where she does nothing. On the off chance she is booted, she'll be hired by some other studio in no time.

Once you hit a certain level of executive you can never really fail. My company hired a bunch of vice presidents whose claim to fame was running their previous company into bankruptcy.
