Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I'm kind of sad because my boomer dad was really looking forward to seeing this, and it sounds like it's so incredibly shitty to an extent that not even he can overlook.

But the schadenfreude of a hackjob cashgrab reboot like this being universally panned is too delicious.

What is lore?
J.J., don't hurt me,
Don't hurt me,
No more...

I had already decided not to pay The Rat before I read these spoilers, but a few thoughts come to mind now:

- I still blame Rian for the majority of the problems made. TFA may have been a retread, but TLJ suffocated any and all good things that came out of this new trilogy and pissed on the remains.

- The Sequel Trilogy should be named, "The Original Trilogy Genocide: A Trilogy"

- The Palpatine snippet was pathetic. Daisy Ridley has no action movie prowess - ignore the CGI lightning and watch how terribly she conveys effort or force behind her blocking the attack.

- Even though I didn't mind TFA, I am floored by the fact that Abrams went with a rehash of RotJ, at least between the ending fight and the epilogue (I haven't read all the spoilers yet). He had everyone in the world musing that all he makes are rehashes and that's all he would do...and he did it.

- It will still do fine with normalfags and make over a billion because of brand power. I won't be contributing to its box office money, however.

New game: other legendary IPs that JJ Abrams could “reimagine” for shits and giggles?
Hmmm...

Seaquest!

OK, shitposting aside... I'd hate for him to get attached to the Robotech live-action adaptation. Or Gundam. Frankly I'm having a hard time thinking of 'legendary' IPs that aren't already in the process of being revamped or have been so. The Lord of the Rings is being shitted on over at Amazon. Harry Potter is locked in place by Warner....

Oh man. Don't be surprised if you see Abrams getting involved with Harry Potter.

They can't even say it subverted expectations because the expectations were that it would be shit.

Disney can bullshit its way out of this by saying the movie exceeded expectations. Haha.

Everyone knew it was going to be shit. We just didn't know it would be this shitty-- even to the point where NPC shills can't defend it anymore.

Putting it here if they will delete vids on YouTube.
equip left handed sword to resist boss's lightning stunlock, then reflect projectiles to build meter and end fight with the limit break AOE attack. (note- the fight will roll a skill check for speech, and you can add an additional debuff to the boss by selecting the paragon dialog option.)

Second, what the fuck are they doing with Adam Driver's character? Is he supposed to be the redeemable villain? Cause opening your film with him slaughtering nameless masses in a single minute is not the way to do that.

How the fuck did he even do that anyway? Everyone's standing up, there are maybe a few seconds of some lackluster combat and then everyone is just lying fucking dead on the ground? It's like they just said "yeah fuck it whatever now just go to them dead."

Even if the movie does well financially, it's still a critical disaster that I think Disney will be wary of given future star wars projects won't do as well cause this movie only had the promise of being an ending and everyone always goes to see the beginning and endings of a series.

Disney should be fortunate that TFA was a good beginning because if it got this level of backlash, I think they would've had to cancel this shit.

How great would it be if this movie made less money than Joker?

I don't think it will happen, but given the immediate backlash this movie is already receiving from critics, then ... Hopefully that will be in the realm of possibility.
Making less profit is guaranteed. Making less overall at the box office is a little trickier, but not entirely outside the realms of possibility. Whether disney will let any number under a billion go unfudged though is more unlikely.
