If this thread is an indication, it's more that people now appreciate the prequels for trying to be different but having shitty excution. Many people enjoy them in an ironical "so bad it's good" sense, I can understand that. I wouldn't say that I like the prequels, they are absolutely shitty, but I do like what they tried to do and here and there, there are good ideas, but atrocious execution. And the designs are pretty awesome, so there's that.
The ST just slapped a new paintjob on everything and sold it as new, the prequels actually had their own style and stuff.

A week ago, I would have said "sure", but now... now is a different matter. I still don't see it "bombing", but it will be a dank, wet fart of an abortion of a box office result.
But chances of it actually bombing are slowly rising with each hour. If reviews are this bad, word-of-mouth will be terrible. To wit: The first public showing of that movie ended about a few minutes ago in Germany. We will get a wave of angry Krauts talking their minds of this movie, that might give us a hint to the overall reception amongst the movie goers. Chances are, this movie is going to be a dud, not an outright bomb, but still far away from being a success.

All of these people are multimillionaires practically guaranteed to be isolated from any consequences as a result of this movie's performance. Even if the worst happens and they're booted out from Lucasfilm they'll find their way to a similar position at another Disney subsidiary with few lessons learned.
Amy Pascal got promoted after Ghostbusters 2016 to running her own production studio for Sony. Her next film? Spider-Man:Homecoming.

Say what you will about the Third Impact, at least you didn't have to pay 20 bucks to partake in it. And it concluded the trilogy of Impacts in a rather final and satisfactory manner.

That fucking ending "battle", holy shit. It was pathetic. NOT A MARY SUE my ass.
I can't actually compare it to the same scene in the original trilogy. No sacrifice, no character growth, no fucking point.
I've lost my interest to sw long ago and still I was disappointed.

Harsh truth: everything about the MCU has been done massively better than anything about Episodes 7 through 9. The casting, the plot, the scripts, fucking everything.

The Endgame ending works because the fans have spent ten fucking years with Tony Stark by this point. The writers have bothered to develop his character, and RDJ is a great actor. The ending works because we actually fucking care what happens to Tony Stark. We don’t want him to go out that hard, but we also know he’s a stone cold fucking hero and also “....I am Iron Man”. A callback ten years in the making.

Episode 7 through 9 have made us give absolutely no fucks about any of the characters introduced. We know that the good guys are going to win in the end, but we really dgaf about how we get there. We don’t care if they live or die. Daisy Ridley bleating “I am a Jedi” means fucking nothing to us at this point. The ending doesn’t have any resonance with its audience.

This is not the level of engagement you want for a major franchise. This is disastrous for a mega franchise. Most people who would consider themselves fans of Star Wars are no longer engaged with the movie canon, and the reason is that Abrams has fucked it completely. He bunged the entire Expanded Universe in the bin for this, after ripping off the Solo twins plotline but making us not care about anyone involved.

I was more fucking invested in Frozen 2 than this, because god help us, Elsa is a better developed character than Rey, and she’s a fucking ice slinging Disney Princess. She is still a better written character.

The only humour to be found here is that Abrams has attained the special distinction of fucking up both Star Wars and Star Trek. That’s barely possible.
