Not even 6 minutes in, and the Emperor is lifting an entire Armada of Star Destroyers with the dark side alone, wow, surely beating him isn't going to be easy, right.....right?

Now he claims review sites reviews and ratings *cough* rotten tomatoes especially *cough* don't mean anything and believes the review is going to vastly improve when the general public sees the movie...despite being an overwhelmingly horrifically received film already.

Oh, also, I work at a library, and as such, have access to early release book blurbs to consider for collection purpose. Another employee showed me some of the Star Wars stuff for kids back in like, August or September. It was one of those "learning to read" books and the blurb was something like "Rey Skywalker is a jedi who...something something" so of course, this being a huge fucking spoiler, and knowing those books release usually a month or two before the movie, I took to reddit to say "Hey, if you have kids, avoid the books, they give everything away and will be out before the film" tried to be nice, right? Provided the blurb when asked, and was called a lying faggot by the majority of the two subs despite having expressly stated in my posts/comments that I was only posting so people could avoid said spoilers. I hope they enjoyed it. I hope they continue to stan their flaming pile of dogshit. God fucking forbid I ever try to be nice to anyone in that capacity ever again.

I've never understood the reasoning behind this. Everyone says this is the cinematic high point of the star wars franchise even though it features the least amount of war in the OT and the whole concept of our heroes spending the whole movie getting shit luck and being hunted doesn't seem like the most unique narrative. Furthermore, it's where the series started delving into having its own goofy language and mannerisms that would end up getting brought up for fanservice in later installments (nerf herder for example). I guarantee if it came it in the current year you would have a multitude of Nostalgia Critic knockoffs doing YouTube videos on why "I am your father" was cringe.

Either I'm missing the point entirely or I'm too much of a casual to grasp filmmaking nuance.

Edit : I am not endorsing that, I think Return is better and A New Hope is the best. Empire has too much of "The Heroes durdle around doing nothing of value" for me.

rose was the SJW darling because frumpy, asian and "bullied off social media" (which was later pretty much confirmed fake, caps are somewhere in this thread).
when TROS' marketing started to rev up rose was nowhere to be seen or outright removed in later versions and replaced by klaud (iirc).
given klauds design, coming out of nowhere and basically replacing rose as a pointless side character (since she hardly moved merch), it triggered the woke brigade hard, complete with hashtag and everything. cue /tv/ doing what it does best and memeing it to high heavens.

That is now becoming a market place liability, and they are course correcting to keep the company on the right side of history. That will continue until the bottom line gets fucked with.

whites males are basically the only ones you can use everywhere over world without triggering anyone (besides twittertards of course). I'd expect a company as big as disney to be remotely aware of this since this isn't anything new or complicated.
