Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Regarding this gender thing:

People DON'T care when a movie/book/video game has a female protagonist. But they a NEED story that makes sense and a protagonist who is believable, only then they are going to empathize with her & become immersed in the story.

Even I as an amateur writer know this
This is why there should have been more focus on Rey’s origin and intentions in the beginning of the series. Since the movies didn’t really explain it well enough, it creates gaping plot holes and more ridiculous explanations later on. The movies should have all been under the same director and same writers.

This is for you boys! Ryan Johsnon style. Please clap

"I am all the Jedi" is such a terrible line. She matches the Emperor's ego with her own unwarranted self-importance. Why not "we are all the Jedi," then bring in the Force ghosts of all the Jedi Palpatine killed? Or "I am a Jedi; whether you are one Sith or all the Sith, I will stand against you?" Anything other than just parroting the Emperor's villainous rantings back at him.

George had gone on record stating he considered the old EU a parallel universe and that didn't stop people from declaring it their canon.
Mostly because that statement had much extenuating context that made "parallel universe" non-literal in that statement, e.g. the fact of multiple levels of pre-Disney canon that admitted EU stories on all levels below G-canon.

Is it just me, or does something seem really fishy about this rotten tomatoes score? 88% audience approval. Now I know they've rigged the entire system, but even after that, it seems suspiciously high.

This was discussed a while back, but given the theory that disney was buying out certain batches of tickets because they're desperate to not let this movie fail, technically they could make a fake verified review for each one of them.

Just got back from seeing Rise of Skywalker with my brother. He's exceptional and very much wanted to go, so I humored him.

It was as if someone had put all of Star Wars into a blender with nitrous oxide and corn syrup, and set it on high for a couple of hours. It was as mesmerizing and fascinating as a flaming dumpster tumbling down an escalator going up. An unrelenting hyperactive fluster cluck full of hamfisted exposition, implausible plot twists, and flat-out non sequiturs .Literally awful. As in it left me full of awe. Awe that someone would spend millions extruding an adolescent's fanfiction of Star Wars onto the silver screen.

I loved it. 10/10. Best Disney Star Wars yet.

This is an incredibly insightful post that is yet somewhat undone by a logical conclusion at the end lol.
There's still a non-zero possibility that it's an original specimen. To my eternal bafflement, there's a not-insignificant quantity of Boer military memorabilia that survives to the present day in near mint condition despite the fact that it's all over 120 years at this point and has been through at least one war on the African continent before ending up in the hands of a collector who posts photos of their incredible find on some web forum or another. In my search for such memorabilia, I've found examples where people pick this shit up in their local American pawnshop and didn't realize the historical value of their find until they shared the photos online. I really hope this didn't happen with the prop/costume supplier on the Mandalorian... it would kill me to know that everyone except me seems to be able to buy their own piece of that history at their leisure.

Popular online boards and sites are just one giant astroturfing ground. Just click on some of the people who gave it a 5. They either only voted for this movie alone or only voted for SJW churned out titles from big name studios.

Except that is how Lucasfilm handled it, but not how George did himself. Leland Chee even admitted there were effectively two continuities, a Films-only and a Films+EU back in 2006.

If she'd said "and I'm a Jedi/just a Jedi" then proceeded to kick his ass that might've been actually rad.
