According to the CDC's
National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (2015) (
pg. 15),
43.6% of women experience sexual violence in their lifetime. ( 95% confidence interval:
(41.9, 45.2) )
According to TransEquality's
U.S. Transgender Survey (2015) (
pg. 205),
47% of respondents had experienced sexual assault in their lifetime, using the same definitions and questions as the CDC's NISVS.
Transmen (aka. female trans) (51%) and
non-binary females (58%) experienced far higher rates of sexual violence than
transwomen (aka. male trans) (37%).
According to the CDC's
NISVS (2010 Findings on Victimization by Sexual Orientation),
44% of lesbians and
61% of bisexual women experience rape/violence/stalking from an intimate partner alone (i.e. no strangers/friends/other perps taken into account.) A whopping 46% of bisexual women have been raped in their lifetime.
So in summary:
•
Women vs. Trans: the lifetime rate of sexual violence (SV) is about the same between women in general (41.9-45.2%) and the trans/nb people surveyed (~47%)
•
Female Trans vs Male Trans: female trans (51%) & female nb (58%) are far more likely to experience SV than male trans (37%)
•
Women vs Transwomen: women (43.6%) are more likely to experience SV than transwomen (37%)
•
LGB vs T: lesbian (44%) and bisexual women (61%) are far more likely to experience
severe SV
just from their intimate partners than transwomen (37%) are likely to experience
any SV from
anyone (note: for trans people, intimate partners only accounted for 34% of all SV they experienced)
• B vs T rape: bisexual women (46%) experience
rape alone at the same rates that trans people (47%) experience
any type of unwanted sexual contact
•
B vs T women rape: Bisexual women (46%) experience
rape alone at rates far higher than transwomen (37%) experience
any type of unwanted contact.
TLDR: So no, they don't have the highest likelihood of being raped of any group. Transmen, female nonbinary, lesbians, bisexual women, and women in general are more likely to be raped and experience sexual violence than transwomen. So basically, the lowest risk of any group. And that's despite higher rates of incarceration and military service, which are known rape dens.
