You don't see this crabs-in-a-bucket attitude from any web personality that isn't desperately thirsty for fame and looking for something on which to externalise their anger and anxiety over their lack of success. The "being on the ground floor of something big" tweet spells it out clear as day here.

I only wonder what her reaction would be if Brad Jones posted his after hers and yet was still more popular.

She was on the "Ground floor" of quite a few cult movies but it didn't fucking matter because she's not fucking funny and is a terrible reviewer of things.

That's the thing, right? She's been at this for over 10 years and basically hasn't grown. At some point you have to acknowledge it's because you're not talented, not because you're unlucky.

I imagine she thinks of herself as a counterpart to Lindsay Ellis, a peer who was in the shitty internet reviewer game for years and then reinvented herself to greater success. It'd explain why she rebranded to her real name and modified her format, much like Ellis.

Lindsay also went to film school and has legitimate passion for the things she talks about. Look at her shelf full of books. Once she broke out of the Nostalgia Chick mold and started talking about things she genuinely enjoyed and was an expert in, she grew. People like watching passionate people they think they can learn something from. You also never got a sense from her that she was desperate for fame. The videos always came secondary to whatever other goals she was pursuing in life. Now she's going to be published and has shifted hard into the woke feminist space, rubbing elbows with Contrapoints and Hbomberguy. She has carved out a very good niche for herself in the long form essay and feminist circles. And now she doesn't even have to write or research her own videos, she has a team. She's really come a long way.

Lupa keeps mining crap B movies that she clearly doesn't watch often or care about thinking she's just one video away from becoming a viral sensation. She has no other job or education to speak of. Her review style is flat, boring, and very forced/fake. I don't consider her an expert in anything so I'm not watching to learn anything and she's not genuinely funny or entertaining so I'm not watching for pleasure either. So what exactly does she bring to the table besides being "first" at something? God she's so dumb.

I think that Lupa should branch out instead of sticking to a niche and review things she's actually interested in. I thought her Charmed reviews were funny because she loved the series even though it had many flaws.

I guess. Honestly, everyone of her cloth does that, and I remember Lindsay doing that with CA when #CTC was going on before she apparently realized going on about them would hurt her image/"brand". Also, the left does that when it comes to Trump, at least I believe they still do.

Problem is not even Charmed fans were tuning into them. Those reviews have horrible view counts. And in an earlier post I made the assumption that it's because Charmed is a demographic that is not that into youtube, so the audience isn't there. She tries to do both, where she does some vids on her topics then tries for broader appeal. But she fails at both because she's talking out her ass for the most part. I don't see her as a Charmed expert and even though her Star Trek episode reviews gain a little traction she doesn't come off as a Trek expert either. She's offering nothing to her audience except that they remember her from 10 years ago when anyone with a camera could get internet famous talking out their ass. That doesn't fly anymore. Her channel reminds me of Company Man. I watched a few of those vids a while ago and the guy sounds like he has no understanding of the topic he talks about. He just reads off wikipedia surface level points and summaries and it's boring. Whereas someone like Brightsunfilms gets interviews and does real research. Lupa is a surface level reviewer with no passion, even when she's choosing the topics and it's supposedly something she cares about!

Since Lupa is not suited for movie/tv show reviews, what do you suggest that she does instead?

Is there no hope for Lupa since she's lazy?

What would give her discipline?

The fact I can't give you a straight answer may just prove how fucked Allison is. Not saying Obscurus Lupa Presents and CA represented some golden goose, but she could have rode that to a stable viewerbase.
