Yes, but Doug sees himself as an expert on media. It makes him sperg out when an average person would just pass TMZ off as the useless tabloid shit that it is. That's why he dedicated 5 minutes to screaming about them in one video.
As much as I'm not a big fan of TMZ, they're usually the ones that break news first. Whenever something happens in Tinsel Town, they're usually the first ones to report on it. So they have that going for them.
He already considered Doug's album to be among the worst of the decade iirc.
I remember at the start of this decade a lot of TGWTG fans saying Doug had an amazing singing voice, and other CA producers also, and some even wanting a musical. How did the Wall trainwreck happen? Was it ego? Was it views? Was it Doug letting the singing compliments get to his head? As for the #1 placement, congrats? I just don’t care for Pink Floyd. Just be happy you didn’t go for American Idiot, Doug.
He did a "Let's Argue" video basically responding to other people's picks, and agreed with Doug's album being among the absolute worst.
You know it's funny, because Doug can scream so loudly you would think he would be the dude who could really hit those high notes if he trained vocally. But the moment you see the Moulin Rouge review you can already tell "Oh shit, he's not good" when it comes to it, especially when someone like Brental Floss(who I think has an okay singing voice) is doing laps around him. in the same song.
You know the funny thing about Moulin Rouge in hindsight? Even back in the peak of TGWTG, Doug was trying to do skits and be more than just snarking in front of a wall.
Months later and people are STILL talking about The Wall. Damn, this is one that Doug will never EVER live down.
It is a monument to idiocy, and will be a warning to future generations not to publicly show just how much you don’t understand a piece of art that has resonated with millions for decades by pissing all over it.
I'd also add it's probably the culmination of Doug overestimating his abilties and talent. I don't think Demo Reel had this bad of a reaction. Also, dislikes outdo likes at just over 2.5/1.
It is impressive, given the relatively quick turnaround, but it's just so incongruous.
Objectively everything he makes is his worst. From the character bios for his furry abominations to his cancelled Bionicle movie, but if you really want his worst here's an animation reel of his when he was in college.
