I know I'm not crazy in thinking "all this shit in the furry fandom has gotten way, way worse over the years" and I'm waiting for some kind of tipping point. I don't want to delve any deeper into this clovis/shamrock thing because it absolutely disgusts me, but if the police really are involved, then I'm praying for a domino effect from this. Uncover something that dumps names, chat logs, evidence enough to take -a lot- of pedos down. Something that really, seriously wounds the fandom, then maybe people will start really looking at the worst, most toxic parts.

on top of that, I just don't want to see any more kids end up hurt and messed up or socially warped because of the furry fandom.

You're not crazy, no, but this stuff has always been lurking. It's become more apparent as furry has become more widespread; the younger (generationally) the fandom skews, the more open people get about things that their elders were inclined to keep under wraps.

Age of Consent in New York is 17 and New York has no "Romeo and Juliet" laws in place. That puts Glitch at 17 in 2016 and makes him 20 as of last month.

Pretty sure "bird8654" got it wrong but that isn't their fault. Glitch either lied to look older, or lied to seem younger.

Turns out this is a time for a discussion on segregating the furry fandom by age.

How would age segregation work in the furry fandom? On Twitter, most after dark accounts ask the user to be 18+ and in some cases, only allow mutuals/close friends to follow the account. On Discord servers and Telegram channels that may be 18+, moderators/admins usually ask new users for verification such as a blurred out ID. Furry-specific sites such as FurAffinity have age restrictions to view NSFW posts. Is there anything social media sites should do reduce the chances of a minor getting NSFW privileges when they shouldn't?

Seriously - the fandom would just kind of fall apart. You need not look any further than the characters furries create, to see that - there’s never anything to them but how sexy they are or how they’re designed to appeal to a fetish. Take the NSFW away and these fursonas have no purpose.

I guess the fandom could go on as a LGBTQ social group but I’m sure discussing pronouns will eventually lose its luster...

I've heard various people in different parts of the web say that Twitter got much worse over the last year because of Tumblr's audience moving over.

Plus the furry fandom is decentralized and furry porn is not going to vanish overnight at all. The best that can happen is that the furry fandom becomes out of style with the younger generation.

I'm more curious where the majority of artists and all would go hypothetically, back to furaffinity or newgrounds? Both don't have as many eyes on them as twitter. I can imagine there being a lot of salty nsfw artists furries if they get kicked off twitter in the future.
