Ow, the Edge.

There's a part of me that honestly wants to punch every idiot who unironically participated in this hashtag. Like, they're acting like The Last Jedi, the movie that universally killed people's interest in Star Wars, is one of the greatest movies ever made. Like they actually think this is good. They liked the 'yo mama' jokes, Canto Bight, Rose Tico, Holdo, Rey being a mary sue, Luke's character getting retconned, Holdo's lightspeed sacrifice destroying the established lore, that horrible subplot with Finn and Rose doing next to nothing, traveling to a planet of child slavery just to free some random horses, the force fed political subtext, Snoke being a wasted villain, and going against the themes that George established in the original 6 movies. And that's not even half of what was wrong with it.

It's also telling that there's no #ThankYouGeorgeLucas. They sure are as reactionary about how this movie changed TLJ as they claimed people were about TLJ changing Lucas' vision. It's going to be very funny when RotS fans start calling them toxic and hateful.

I remember around 2014/15 or so hearing about Carrie Fisher going on a Disney-prescribed weight-loss program for TFA. It wouldn't surprise me if Disney did have a hand in rushing her to an early(ier) grave. The woman should have been left alone.

What happened was that she was in Europe promoting her book The Princess Diarist. She was on Graham Norton show. At some point before or after the taping she did a bit of cocaine. Unfortunately she relapsed, and on the flight back to the states she had a heart attack and slipped into a coma. I assume that had she stayed sober she'd still be with us but then again almost anything can cause a heart attack.

Dark Empire would've been infinitely cooler than anything we've gotten so far from Disney, but I think I'm in agreement with Zahn regarding the damage it does to both Luke and Vader's character arcs by the end of ROTJ. On the one hand you have Luke turning the Dark Side, something he vowed never to do; and on the other hand, Palpatine wasn't really dead, which minimized Vader's sacrifice and Luke's test of faith/love. I could still accept the idea of Dark Side soul transmission and clone bodies, but ehhh. Maybe not the best story to focus on or consider canon.

Part of if is TDS I think, but Ya Boi Zack might be onto a better explanation:

tl;dw Rian Johnson is SJW Jesus. He just hates people and wants free reign to piss everyone off except himself. Tim Miller, by contrast, seems to give a shit about stuff more but has an ego problem. Doesn't play well with others. Not particularly political or loud.
I disagree with Ya Boi about diverse bad guys. You can totally have diverse bad guys that are evil, just look at Clarence's gang in Robocop!

(The Vietnamese guy isn't pictured here)

It's funny how it's not Rey or Kylo people care for...its everyone else (sorta like how no1curr about Lohan in Mean Girls, instead its all the other people in the film that are remembered most)

I think it would have been interesting if Paige lived instead of Rose. She could have taken Poe's spot had they not decided to spare him.

Them originally planned on killing him makes me wonder exactly what they were going to do with the trilogy.

If the cocaine didn't killed her, the alcohol, heroin, ecstasy or the opiates she was also on would have killed her sooner or later.

At this point, the sequel trilogy is basically going into my reboot box, along with all the shitty other reboots like Robocop, Total Recall, Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Terminator, and Prometheus. The only reboot in the last couple decades that I can recall not being an absolute piece of shit was Dredd, which managed to be an actual good movie in addition to the older Dredd movie sucking, so it had a low bar to begin with. Yeah, the sequel trilogy had the original actors, unlike most of the other reboots, but apart from that one detail it shares every feature of every other movie that attempted to catch lightning in a bottle but fucked it up.

There's just something about reboots that sets them up to fail miserably, I don't know if it's because the motivation behind them is a cynical cash grab so the people making them just don't give a shit, or because it's intrinsically difficult to make a project that does a good job of following up from work done in the past by a different team.

You know, I think I said earlier in the thread that at least everyone hates this movie, so at least Disney can't consider it a success. But I already re-hate TLJ fans just from the pissy articles and tweets we're getting from blue checkmarks.

Ow, the Edge.

>targeter of souls
what does that even mean?
>adds trophies to his armor and weapon
where?
>weight-reducing holes

He was right about what he saw, but not for turning the lightsaber on. Especially since that's what ended up pushing Ben away and leading him into Snoke's welcome arms. In essence it's the same mistake Anakin made when he betrayed Mace Windu & the Jedi: a self-fulfilling prophecy born from the fear of loss.

I know rian's a twat, but you know what they say about broken clocks. I'd go as far and say the self-fulfilling prophecy wasn't even on beardball's radar when he wrote it (because I was waiting till the fucking end for luke to feed it kylo so he'd reflect on it, not turn into 2cool4school).

and still, luke just turns the lightsaber on, he doesn't decapitate kylo outright. it's an interesting dilemma. I also disagree that it's "out of character" - a lot can happen over the years, no one behaves in his 40/50s like it's his late teens (unless you're eric butts) and everybody has his weakpoints. luke not being the idealistic, maybe borderline naive kid anymore isn't that far fetched.
it's even worse when you follow the "out of character" train of thought and the movie never follows up on it and it turns into some fucking forced drama that would've been solved by simply fucking talk about it ("something luke should've done from the beginning" hurr). it's fucking retarded because no normal person, least of all luke, would behave that way. "yeah I tried to kill my nephew and he became everything I feared, I'll just exile myself on titty m1lk island". not once does he try to explain or justify himself, not to kylo and not even to han or leia, which is another indicator riun never thought of that in the first place.

Where's Coldsteel's entry?
I'm doing my best to find the others. So far I've only found two other edgelords.

Weird thing about this guy's staff is that its says its charged with kinetite, which is another name for sith lightning but "Usher" can't use sith lightning. So does Palpatine himself charge up this guy's staff? Or is the kinetite actually made from the souls of dead sith babies taken from Palpatine's super huge galaxy-wide cult?

This one is called Apple K Aplek.

What a bunch of actually pretty cool designs (imagine if the entire aesthetic of the sequel trilogy was scrapper technology, and it almost entirely took place in the outer rim on junkyard worlds) wasted on a bunch of edgelord nu-Sith without lightsabers who jobbed to Kylo.

These guys would get their shit punched in by the Dark Eldar.
