Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Man I used to love LEGOs. Now they're just too expensive and there isn't much that would interest me at least. The Death Star's cool but it's like a $1000 or something last I checked.

I'd dig building LEGOs of old OT or EU stuff like Dash Rendar's ship or the Moldy Crow. There's endless variations on the TIE Fighter design, including the boss TIE Defender. If any of you have ever been in a Barnes & Noble, you've probably seen a bunch of toy models of EU ships for Star Wars tabletop games, which included stuff like the aforementioned ships.

- Have the First Order be like Space ISIS and they start off as weak villains but are trying to get resources to make a super weapon that would make them intimidating or a more credible threat to the galaxy at large so they’d be a small scale threat at first. The trilogy would show their progress in it with the second movie’s climax showing them completing it and showing the threat it poses by possibly destroying planets, maybe those the characters spent time on to actually get a personal feeling about the planets blowing up.

I would argue that their rise to prominence should be due to the direct actions of Rey, even if its incidentally helping them secure the weapon or resource that allows them to gain power. This would give her a more direct send of responsibility every time something horrible happens. Again, even a half baked series of ideas has more potential than what they delivered on.
Its ridiculous.

It is so baffling what they chose and not to chose to reamain, canon.

Baffling as Gormaanda (the four armed woman)was portrayed by a white man (Harvey Korman) in drag and black face. Disney was considering censoring the crows from dumbo yet they recanonzied this.
I know right? The way Disney actually recanonized Gormaanda is weird in itself. The difference now is that in Disney canon she is a figure from ancient times who used to sell how-to cooking tapes and is now greatly revered. So under Disney she's technically dead... and some kind of patron saint of chefs... Why? Just why? Who the fuck thought any of this was a good idea?

If you need an entire book to understand the film, then the film is an objective failure.

People who disagree with this are just plain incorrect.
Exactly. A book should be complimentary to the film. Not serve as a fucking crutch or pillar for the film to lean on. That's one of the things that what went wrong with Halo. A movie that includes stuff from a book is fine and a book that relies on the movie is needed, but a movie that relies on its book to make it better or complete is not a good movie. Its like an incomplete video game where you can only enjoy all the content if you buy the DLC, and then it turns out the DLC sucks or is also incomplete. Actually, at least DLC adds to the game. None of the shit in this book can actually be added to the movie. And if it could be added it would still suck and feel incomplete.

I think that's pretty easy to explain. There's no lore master or Holocron Keeper keeping track of what people decide they want to recanonize; I doubt Leland Chee has the same will or power to do that stuff anymore. Disney doesn't give a shit for the most part, they just let Lucasfilm do whatever they want, at least until KK shit the bed. After that, I dunno. Maybe nobody noticed Harvey Korman's doing black face in the Holiday Special, considering its such an obscure and hated piece of media.
Leland Chee used to be the main spokeperson and manager of that kind of stuff, but after Disney it seems he's now just an errand boy while that loathsome faggot Matt Martin is the new lore master and he's fucking awful at it. And an insufferable prick to boot.

Considering how utterly terrible the SWHS was, I'm not remotely surprised.

I'm guessing the person who brought this back didn't know better. Thought Considering the political climate, I feel like they should of known better. Though the point is, i don't take the nu-canon or what is defined as canon to be taken seriously or as 100% fact, and that we are supposed to put a lot of these new stories on a higher pedestal than the old is really frustrating. I mean I don't hate all nu-canon, Kanan the Last padawan is acutally a good well written comic, and as I said before if your into books like Darth Palugesis check out, Tarkin and Catatlyst. But that's the only stuff, I can confidently recommend. Though to be honest I didn't read through all nu-canon, and I can't stand Doctor Aphra.

Is Matt Martin bad as Pablo Hildalgo? who insults fans and then hid his twitter away from most people. He might be a shill, but I don't think he's that insufferable.

Disney has recanonized everything from the holiday special oddly enough. You'd think that would be the one piece of media they would ignore most or at least have the decency to make some kind of animated remake of it that didn't suck, but nope. You get the Holiday Special again but worse and more confusing where Gormaanda is now an ancient cooking matron and Itchy whines about the CIS and the Empire forcing him into gas chambers.

He can be insufferable and he did used to talk about fans being privileged, sexist and the usual SJW retorts and whatnot. But he's far less vocal and butthurt about it as Hidalgo. And he hasn't brought up the usual woke comments recently as far as I know.

Of all the eu stories they could of chose from, they chose the Holiday special.

Honestly, considering how horribly Disney has managed almost everything that used to be related to SW, including the OT, its for the best they don't touch anything else with a 100ft pole. I mean look at HK-47 now. I can only imagine what they'll do to Revan now that he's in Disney canon.

I imagine Disney only kept the Holiday special canon only just so Chewbacca's life isn't that horrible after the ST given the critiques of his character in it. Then again I can also assume they picked it because if George Lucas thinks it's horrible then it's good according to them.

If they ever decide to ruin recanonize characters from Dark Forces & Jedi Knight it'll send me into an absolute sputtering rage:

Given the way Disney treats their own audiences, I wouldn't be surprised if they recanonized the Star Wars Holiday Special specifically because it was so hated and was probably the most hated part of the Star Wars franchise before the Disney-era movies.

I can barely keep up with this thread so forgive me if this has already been touched on, but holy shit, this guy called it two years in advance.

Amazing, he knew she was a Palpatine before even Disney and J.J knew it!

Or at least if you believe the rumors that the son of Mortis, played by Matt Smith, was supposed to be the real villain.

Implying Revan will be a "he."

Though on a lighter note, I got into Star wars reference books, and got one from the library it's about Aliens, ( Called Star Wars Alien Archive and it's supposed to fit in with the shitty nu-canon, but there's a gem too funny for me not to share.

Sorry for the crappy scans. If it's ok, I will share more.

Even the Ithorians hate their shitty ripoff.

Who doesn't? They're fucking hideous. Also I find it amusing that Hidalgo keeps pushing these guys as "Ithorian cousins with a different name" despite all concept art and promo shit calling them Ithorians.

Also this thing was in IX.

According to the IX dictionary, his species has no eyes, nose, ears or even a brain. Instead its main sensory organ and nerves are in its mouth, so its head is just one giant fanged mouth and it constantly needs to grin to be able to sense things. The machine over his mouth is used as a substitute for brain, eyes, and ears... These things are naturally born like this? Who came up with these horrors? Does someone in the costume department have a fetish for brainless things? Or is this a metaphor for how Disney wishes its fans could be like?

Of course he is; he's desperate to get media access so he can lord it over others and try to staunch his growing obesity and irrelevancy to his own "superior future" as he tries and fails to consoom product... if he ever sees it, which I suspect 2/3s of the time is a fuck no.
Because no competent franchise holder is going to let anyone but themselves retain full control over franchise elements. Only utter idiots like Archie Comics do that shit (Ken Penders). Their contract is going to give them control over absolutely everything forever.
Even Archie tried to retain control over their licensing. The difference is they were so shit at organizing they somehow lost their contract at some point allowing that sperg Penders to take his OCs and walk. They had it, but lost it due to incompetency; probably courtesy of their woke bitch of a CEO at the time.

Which staffer is okaying these things? Because this crawled out of a Guillermo del Toro movie to molest and murder children.

It's a running theme of disgust, and not in a goofy or fun way.

It's like Lucasfilm decided to reuse rejected Hellraiser props and concept art instead of paying George Lucas royalties.

Just who the fuck is this for? I guess it's for me, so I'll call him Grunk.
