I've noticed that a lot of Twitter troons and cows, try to avoid referring to the farms by name. My main guess is that they are trying to avoid giving the farms direct exposure or in some occasions are aware of this thread and don't want the farms to know about their existence.

It's supposed to protect them from "harassment" (or, as other people call it, responding to their tweets). I think the intent is to make it harder to search for their Tweets, though I'm not knowledgeable enough to actually know if that works. I believe it started with G*merg*te and sorta kept going from there.
