“If it’s unexpected, we’ll open up a case to figure out how the death occurred,” Torum said. “It’s by no means at this point a suspicious death — but we still have to investigate to see what happened.”
It could take months for the official cause of death to be released, Torum said.
“The autopsy has been done. There’s no official result,” Torum said. “It’s still pretty early. We’re still talking to witnesses and going through information. It takes time.”
As an aside, if you look on the church's music group's Instagram page @bethelmusic and an unofficial Bethel music account @bethelmusicbelievers, you can see videos of the worship services they held where people sang and danced and prayed to resurrect the kid. These sessions were led by Olive's parents-- yes, the mom and dad led people in song and dance about their dead child for 5 days straight. They even wrote a song about it, called "Olive, Get Out Of That Grave". It'll get stuck in your head.
Yeah I don't think the autopsy would take too long and neither is the case- there's too much suspicious shit that points to the parents killing their own kid for asspats and shekels. Hell, I'm willing to bet good money that this is exactly the case. Like everyone else has said- it's very, very, very unusual for a kid to suddenly stop breathing.
The Bethel Church in Redding just had a big backlash this last year over their gay conversion beliefs and have had controversy over faith healing so if this child was sick it possible the parents didn't seek past medical treatment.
If she was sick and they didn't take her to the doctor, then it's lunacy to try and resurrect the child you didn't even bother to care for in life. She'd just get sick and die again if she were by some miracle brought back from the dead.
We should all utilize this system for cases like this.
While we are on the subject of delusional religious nuts Eva Sherbondy is home . She won't get therapy until after the new year but the bible is being read to her by her dad because apparently that is the big priority to him.
My last part was there might have been some underlying issue they might not have found out yet because she died before they found it. Like genetic disease, underlying heart issue, ect. She didn't live long enough for issues to arise and them need to get her to the doctor.
With proper prenatal care, many problems can be detected, not just Down Syndrome which is the most notorious.
There is a series of checkpoints. First is an ultrasound, then a blood draw for chromosome abnormalities. Then you go to a more sophisticated ultrasound at 14 weeks or so. Then you get another blood test for AFP (alpha-feto-protein) in the second trimester. You can get an amniosantesis, that also picks up anomalies if they are suspected. You get another expert ultrasound at 20 weeks and another one closer to your due date, or if your OB suspects that something is amiss. The sophisticated scans pick up a lot of deformities including screwed up internal organs
Throughout the course of the pregnancy, your providers are listening to the heartbeat to screen for heart problems.
Then when the kid is born they prick his or her heal, a bit like Snow White. They send the blood to the state lab to screen for all kinds of rare conditions.
Basically, these screens are not just for shits and giggles. They detect, and then help doctors treat, some of these otherwise "mysterious" conditions that can maim and kill in early childhood.
Did she get prenatal care and have a hospital birth? Hmmmm?
Yes, especially if the parent has drunk alcohol or other intoxicants are taken before sleeping.
There was also case last year where some woman who was prescribed fentanyl patches for some condition or other co-slept with her kid. Somehow the patch detached from her skin in the night and got onto the baby who promptly overdosed and died. We invented cots and cradles and stuff like that for a reason, perhaps people should stop thinking 'what do chimps, who live in the forests, and have no other options, do?' and fewer accidents will happen.
I also remember the case of some woman who accidentally smothered her newish baby to death by falling asleep on a plane while breast feeding.
Looking into this church/cult they are very big on pro-life pray and everything works out. There's a chance she had very minimal care and likely said no to the genetic testing and possibly even the metabolic baby testing.
This church/cult has been in hot water before for their anti doctor/hospital stuff. They've legitimately tried to pray epilepsy out of people and more.
From what I've read some members of the church have practiced something called 'grave sucking' where they lay on the grave's of folks to 'soak up' their anointing. I've fallen down the hole on this place and stories of people who've left it. They heavily promote conversion therapy and have numerous 'prayer rooms' where they 'cure people with prayer'. Gold dust and feathers that fall from the ceiling, coins that stick to walls, etc
I watched a video of their 'prayer sessions' and it's really weird.
Also with the 'crunchy' movement? A lot of ladies are saying no to more than one ultrasound at 20 weeks (if they get any ultrasound at all) and a lot of folks are opting out of the heal prick metabolic testing with the anti-vaxx movement. So if it wasn't a religious thing? Maybe they are anti-vaxx and crunchy idiots?

I know some of those crunchy nutters/fundie freaks say no to the PKU test (heel stick) because they believe it gives the government a copy of their child’s DNA to keep on file.
I’m all for low intervention prenatal care for low risk pregnancies, you don’t need an ultrasound at every appointment and a quick check on the heart rate and mothers health is all that’s needed. There’s no reason to turn down GBS testing or the gestational diabetes screening, but these people fight it tooth and nail. Same with the vitamin K injection and antibiotic eye goop after birth. It’s mysterious and stupid, they don’t hurt the babies in any way....

Hopefully California's infant and child mortality statistics won't look like a pioneer graveyard before the state puts an ax on objecting to heal picking and conventional prenatal care.
For these women who claim that conventional medical birth disempowers women: Who gives a damn what you think? It is about the baby being born safely. This is the most dangerous day of his life!
Major powerlevel:
The heelprick saved one of my kids from a lifetime of mental retardation and failure to develop. Yes she is 1/100,000.
High tech ultrasound saved another from either perinatal death or mental retardation, due to low fluids. His cord was going to constrict, cutting off oxygen and blood.
So 2 less retarded or dead babies for the state of CA. God's mercy. And competent care.

I feel like if Eva’s family could give up on her with no backlash they probably would.
So many of his Instagram posts are just “slow healing”, “wish she would heal” or “it’s not her mentally but it is physically but it’s not the same.” And then the .. “she’s coming home but she’s not healed, ugh”
It’s hard to see, yes she’s a potato but why not be thankful for what they have? She may still heal, it just takes a long time.

You can also enter your state, to find out what yours tests for, if curious.
These conditions are nasty. And they test for them at birth, because in a lot of cases by the time the child is showing symptoms, irreversible damage has already happened. Avoidable or managable with detection and management.
People are afraid that the state will store their child's DNA?
I am amazed at how much elbow room the American system gives, for beliefs, paranoia and speculation. I mean seriously, if that were true, how would the states manage and systematize a database of this magnitude? And let's say this data archive were in full effect, what would they ultimately do with the data?
Are these facts or are these feelings? In the States here, feelings seem to be legally facts, when it comes time to people making risky choices for their kids. And then they end up with severely disabled, retarded or dead kids, etc.
I don't know the personal history of this Bethel cult baby death but their withholding information is making my speculation run wild.

Yeah I fell down some of the conspiracy gang stalking facebooks a while back and a lot of those folks are the PKU is the goberment trying to steal my child's DNA weirdos. They get really really paranoid about it. One lady swore the ebil government people were trying to break into her house at night and steal her child's dna.

If you follow the skeptical OB you've seen how in the crunchy movement it's all about the mother's 'ideal birth plan' and not about having a live child. In recent years there's been so so many deaths because of these movements
I too am very interested in the cause of death. I'm wondering if it was something vaccine preventable or something that could have been seen in Pre-natal testing.
I honestly think the 'olivewakeup' bs was to raise money for the church. The fact that they raised so much money with a gofundme? Is very strange. I think they saw an opportunity and ran with it.
I don't think they actively purposely killed the child but medically neglected her until her death probable. I was reading on the No Longer Quivering page though and someone said something that made me get even more suspicious of folks and how her mother is a Bethel fanatic and her brother died under similar circumstances. And even though it's just a random comment from someone it kind of got me going hmmm. No Longer Quivering is an interesting page to follow if you want to see how harmful churches like this are.
People are very concerned about the state storing their DNA. I've seen them freak out about the stem cell storage and such too.
And on another note, Tafida Raqueeb, last mentioned in the farms in October, is still vegging in the Italian hospital as of Monday December 23, and recently had surgery.
[EDITED TO ADD]: Does anyone else find it a bit odd that this photo doesn’t show Tafida’s face, only her hand and arm and the unicorn stuffie? It’s the only recent photo they posted.
From the comments:
I wonder if Connie Ward realizes the Raqueebs are Muslims? You’d think that would be obvious from their names but these people don’t seem to be all that bright. From Connie’s FB profile she appears to have her very own potato

Yeah it's suspect as fuck. Even without seeing the face you can tell that they just lifted up her hand and put the toy there before flopping it back down again. At least you can tell if you want to look for more than a second and actually admit to yourself that the hand isn't interacting with the toy in any meaningful way.
Option A - Privacy concerns.
Option B - She looks like what she is at this point - a horrifying, bloated, brain-decayed corpse being kept artifically breathing via medical technology.
Which do you think is most likely the truth, fellow Kiwis?
Honestly, the whole 'God's will' thing bugs the shite out of me. If it's all God, then unplug and let God decide what to do with her. I guarantee that will be a quick, merciful death, which is obviously the point, isn't it? The rhetoric is god, god god, and the reality is these children only 'survive' in their artificial death-suspended state due to purely human intervention.
Not to mention scare people into believing they're at increased risk for certain diseases when they're at the same risk as the rest of the population, or maybe a slight increase, for shit that has no real reliable testing to boot.
Genetic genealogy using databases like 23andme and Ancestry is great for solving cold case homicides though, and for identifying John and Jane Does. Recently they announced that through genetic genealogy they found a man who was abducted from the hospital the day after he was born, back in the early sixties.
