There's two problems with that. He (presumably) can't fight worth shit and he's too poor to afford a lawyer, and we all know that his narc brain will be amusing when he eventually does get a lawyer.

Grout wouldn't hire a lawyer because he thinks he knows more about the legal system than all the lawyers in the world, combined.
I really, really hope that some Kiwis in his neck of the woods manage to get a seat at Onion's trial for CP and/or failing to repair the wetlands, because I NEED a play by play of Baby Carrot trying to act like he's fucking Clarence Darrow or Alan Dershowitz.

other than giving the victims and accusations legitimacy what exactly does Hanson bring to the table? Does he have connections that we should know of? as far as I'm tracking he's not working with law enforcement.

he and vincent were the ones to contact the FBI about this whole thing (how we learned he had already been on the FBI’s radar before they even contacted) and got ahold of the laptop/phones with potential evidence on it, which is likely the source of the confirmed child porn evidence which is huge.
I know I kinda called out hansen for milking the situation with his plans for unnecessary interviews a few pages back, but he and vince do deserve credit for pushing the FBI to open an investigation and getting ahold of vital pieces of evidence. If he hadn’t gotten involved, legal action against greg and lainey would probably still be a pipe dream and they’d still be trying to groom the next teenager into a threeway.

I certainly hope Lainey goes down for this but I am mildly worried Greg might not. But then again, he can't really use the excuse that "he never asked for them" if he had access to the iCloud accounts these texts were sent and received on I'm pretty sure right? Because if Sarah had access to these from that computer Lainey/Greg didn't log out of and it's a family account then Greg certainly can't claim he couldn't have known (added suspicion given that he suddenly had tweets sent from Android after years of iPhone loyalty). Especially if the pictures were automatically uploaded to the icloud account (which despite the horrors of that possibility I'm really hoping is the case to really seal the coffin on these two fucks)

I mean this is Chris Hansen, from how to catch a Predator, I'm sure he has some form of law enforcement connections after doing a show that was made to catch groomers in the act.
He's also the only person we have giving direct updates on the FBI investigation. I believe it was Hansen that got the ball rolling on that in the first place too.
So yeah, he has quite a bit to bring to the table really.

But he doesn't actually work with law enforcement anymore. He does investigative journalism. Is he filing FOIA requests with the FBI? Because normally it would be illegal to have an informant leak info about a subject during a criminal investigation on alleged accusations.
Aside from the battle for public opinion, these types of jerry Springer acts don't help investigations. Until Oniogug lawyers up, I'm gonna hold my breath on anything.

We all thought that during the wetlands saga, but he did get one, even if all she did was charge him to say nuh-uh here are the fax. If he gets a CP charge I'm sure he'd get a lawyer, at least until his debt and fines catch up.

I don't think he's ever directly worked with/in law enforcement, he's a presenter/journalist and that's it. I just said he may have contacts with law enforcers from that work as it was all about catching pedophiles.
Hansen has only ever dropped small bits on info on the investigation, I assume it's more of a press release type thing, just small updates on the investigation that won't reveal too much.
Currently all we know is that they have physical evidence of CP possession on both Greg and Lainey. We dont know what that CP is (photos/videos) or if it's anything new (could be Sarah's photos, could be the forums). The other thing is that they are looking into enticement, but again that could be what we already know took place- encouraging people to send photos even though they may be underaged, which Lainey has definitely done. All this announcement has done is solidified there is physical evidence against both of them which could mean they're gonna get a nice visit from the popo soon.
The interesting thing would be if they got evidence of distribution, as that's the big conspiracy atm- did Greg use his forums to contact pedos and sell photos of minors that he got from the "rate your body" board? I guess we will eventually find out.

I have an abstract legal question for those who know the law... A TV presenter going on the air and saying someone committed a crime knowing that it isn't true is grounds for slander, and both the reporter and the network would be responsible. Are YouTube celebrities held to the same standard, or is it considered "casual speech" like social media posts? I understand that slander is a difficult thing to prove in court, and I'm not saying that a crime hasn't been committed. I'm just asking what responsibilities Chris Hansen has to ensure that his reporting is fair and accurate.
Personally, I'm interested in the swamp saga. January 4th will mark 90 days before his permit to restore the wetlands expires. If he lets it expire without doing anything, he will be right back at square one, having to pay all the fees all over again, go through the inspection process again, and perhaps racking up ines as well. The county might sweep in and do the work themselves and put a lien on his property to pay for it. Honestly, I think that is the only way the restoration work is going to be done.

I'm far from being an attorney, but I know it's a civil matter, so Gurg would have to bring suit against him and prove what he's saying isn't true. So far, Hansen has been presenting victims, and saying it's being investigated. I don't think he's quite claimed a crime has been committed, but has turned it over to the FBI to be proven or disproven. For the most part, he's showing Gurg and Krai are manipulative shits who have destroyed people. Not necessarily illegal (immoral, yes), but he's showing them to be shitty people. All he's said otherwise is the FBI is investigating, they've been on the radar for a while, and they've found evidence that MAY lead to a conviction.
As to the wetlands, Grunge is just hoping they'll somehow forget about him, and it will all just go away without him doing anything, or at least doing the very minimum he THINKS should pass.

I'm stuck in the middle on whether or not he cares yet (or even understands that it's getting bad for him). Even if he's not charged, you cannot come back from this. The minute CP is brought up you'll never get away from that.
