I agree, but this doesn't come from the alone's themselves. Others tell them they're a loser, define a man's worth based on his sexual success.

With Elliot it's different IMO. OPL and Marjan are mostly in it just because of lust, but Elliot had a huge inferiority complex that he thought he could solve by getting a gf. Of course he was also horny, but that seems to only play in the background most of the time. Unforntunately, since he was too spoiled to take any active role in anything (even OPL actually went outside with his attraction sign) it didn't end well for him.

From what I've heard of him, he had two main things stopping him from getting laid:

A passive approach. He expected girls to approach him and do the work, get to know him. He probably had a few girls interested in him, but he never pursued them. Possibly this is linked to the intense need for approval he displayed. His ego perhaps required they approach him, because it would be more flattering. You seek a prize, the prize doesn't seek you out.

Second was the fantasy aspect and unreasonable standards. He specifically wanted a good looking blonde girl. I think this was driven more by an urge to attain status, to have a "trophy" than just a genuine preference, because it seems in the rich California culture blonde girls have a kind of status to them.
