"Pagan" is too nebulous a term, because it describes basically every kind of Western spiritual belief that existed before the Roman empire spread Christianity throughout Europe. Is it a multitheistic system of beliefs practiced by white people? It's Paganism.

Plus when most Tumblrinas say they're "pagan," they're talking about Wicca, which is just one type of "paganism"-- the modern, trendy type woo woo white moms practice with essential oils and chunks of quartz.

Also, it's technically a religion. You can't be Wicca and an athiest-- they're mutually exclusive, since Wicca does have deities.
