Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

So... I have access to Disney-minus (though I'm somehow not paying for it) and have managed to hold myself back from watching the Mandalorian. (Ok, so I did watch the first episode a few weeks back and I kind of liked it...) unofficial poll- now that the season's over, thumbs up if I should binge watch it tomorrow, thumbs down if I shouldn't.

In a similar situation. Had no plans on buying Disney+, and then my generous in-laws gifted an entire year to us for Christmas.

I plan to start watching The Mandalorian on Monday. As someone who refers to herself as an "ex-fan" in regards to Star Wars these days, I wonder if I'll be impressed and get excited upon watching every new episode.

I'm bitter, y'all. Is it even worth my time?

The Mandolorian was good until Baby Yoda suddenly looked directly at the camera and gave a speech about global warming and why humans must eat bugs in order to survive the next century. Then the scene continued from then on like nothing ever happened.

Weird moment. Otherwise definately worth your time. Filoni is single handedly saving Star Wars, waifus and all.

pay attention to my unofficial poll I guess, lol.

Fucking thank you. Once again proving yourself as the best damn poster around.

Goblin Slayer and Dungeon Meshi are my only painkillers during this time...

Thank you sir.

Honestly, I've been going more into anime sort of stuff because Western media has decided that my entertainment dollar is no longer valuable and has decided that virtue signaling and propaganda is more important than escapism (don't get me wrong, anime has storytelling problems. But not any western baizou shit. At least, not yet. God fucking help us.). Like I have no obligation to keep consuming garbage. I was a big Star Trek fan. Stopped caring and never saw STD (best nickname ever, because that shit is fucking herpes) and Picard looks to be an epic fucking disaster. Same with Star Wars. I stopped after TFA. Like not even bought a singular thing after that. Not a game, not a movie, not a rug, nothing. Its like TPM. I never saw any of the prequels after it. This need to keep consuming is fucking baffling to me. I've got a LOT of options. I don't need to be loyal to anything anymore. This isn't 1995 where I have to make an effort to find things. Things are just thrown at me constantly, and I have the freedom to pick and choose what I want to spend my money on. And there's always something else.

Which is why I dislike any cuck faggot that constantly consumes this shit. I hate fanboys, as they're the most brain dead cunts on the planet. Like that dumb little bitch crying over the trailer of RoS. Eat a bullet faggot. This is why everything is shit nowadays, because pure soy like him get their micro-penises erect whenever mediocrity occurs. Stop. Fucking. Buying. Shit. Just. Fucking. Stop. They will never replace you, just stop spending your money and they will be forced to listen to you. But fucking no. They just keep buying it and buying it and buying it.

I’m working on a theory about what’s truly inspiring the SJW media to suck Rose Tico’s/Kelly Marie Tran’s dick at every opportunity. While some of it is undoubtedly an attempt to score woke points, I also think it’s clickbait.

Except for her sabotaging Finn’s attempt to sacrifice himself to save everyone else, I was mostly indifferent to the character. But seeing people falling all over themselves to praise an embarrassing character and the mediocre actress portraying her has made me want to reflexively dunk on Tico/Tran, which isn’t entirely fair, especially not to Tran who isn’t really to blame. And if that’s my reaction when I was mostly indifferent, imagine how the high-key Tico/Tran haters are reacting.

They're counting on hate clicks/retweets and flame wars for attention and revenue, and they don’t seem to care how that affects Kelly Marie Tran as a real human being who will be lucky to have a career after all this dies down. It’s also notable that they’ve fixated on Tico specifically as a character that needs more content and not Tran as an actress who needs more work. They could be singing her praises to try to get others in the industry to cast her in something, but doing that doesn’t enrage anyone, which means advocating on Tran’s behalf is worthless to them.

Seriously, the worst possible thing you could do to Kelly Marie Tran is to give her more work as Rose Tico. Unless she makes enough money from it to retire on, any continuation of that character will drive a stake in the heart of her career.

Tran has the unenviable position of forcing to kowtow to these fucktards who are only holding her up because she has slant eyes. She doesn't have the star power to tell these people the truth, nor does she have the pull. So she's got no say in the matter for these people using her name, ruining her career to virtue signal. It sounds bad, but Rose Tico could literally be anyone else on the planet who looks Asian and can pass as a female, all these people would hold any actress up. I mean, if you've got a modicum of self awareness and dignity, that's got to be fucking soul crushing.

Just think about it. You finally made it in a gigantic blockbuster movie and nobody cares about you, the actress. They only care about your slant eyes. They do not give a singular fuck about you as a person or your performance, just your race. That's all their celebrating. Therefore any part they advocate for you is going to be people trying to guilt you.

And that's really the problem. Everyone outside of the Twitter progtard Star Wars community dislikes the character massively. And because she was forced on everyone, no one likes the actress. So this will definitely harm her career profoundly. It would be immensely better for her if everyone forgot Rose Tico existed as soon as possible, but people on Twitter whine about it constantly for virtue points.

In a similar situation. Had no plans on buying Disney+, and then my generous in-laws gifted an entire year to us for Christmas.

You have to take it this way:

The Mandalorian has more in common with Star Trek the Next Generation and The X-Files than modern shows like Game of Thrones in that it resembles a show in the early days of serialization. That is, there are a few plot interconnected episodes with stories of the week which have no connection to the main plot interspersed in them. The problem with this is that in the early days of serialization, you had seasons running for 20+ episodes, so you could take breaks. The Mandalorian only runs for 8 episodes however, so you might be disappointed with what seems to be filler in too tight a timescale.

That and The Mandalorian's episodes are typically smaller. Average being about 30 minutes (with a few exceptions) in contrast to typical stream shows of 1 hour to 45 minutes. But to be honest, I'd argue the only problems are really with the show's format. Otherwise its an amazing throwback to shows in the 1980s and it feels like it should have a grainy, shot on film style instead of the far-too clean digital Disney look. The music is very Enrico Morricone. Its more Star Wars than the Sequel trilogy because it successfully blends dramas, while Star Wars blended Sci-Fi and Fantasy, Mando blends Sci-Fi with Westerns. You get a VERY Western feel of the show in plot and music. The end credits are also fucking amazing, where they show you colorized story-boards for every episode, which also has a very retro feel and the art is simply amazing. The character design of everyone basically outshines the sequels.

Its very respectful of the material and almost reverent of it, using the same wipes the original trilogy used in episodes Favreau directed. I'm not a big Star Wars fan at all, but it uses bits and pieces of the universe to great effect, to the point where you wonder if the people who made this show should have been given the universe from the start. Its going to hurt to think about what Disney Star Wars could have been with a trilogy directed by Favreau and someone not in charge like Kennedy.

Honestly, The Mandalorian is the best produced piece of Star Wars media since RotJ. Its really sad because of Disney's own incompetence, greed and spite it just ruined this franchise for no real reason. So if you're bitter, I don't think watching this is going to help you. Its going to be uh, bitter sweet. Because on one hand, its really good. On the other, it just serves as a foil for how badly Disney fucked up.

For me, I sum up the Madalorian as just ok. Because it is forced and constrained by the sequel trilogy. There's a lot of media out there not constrained by garbage, and it just ends up superior because the show is basically a nice Persian rug thrown over a bloated and decaying corpse and trying to pretend its not there. Its just not enough to hide what happened to Star Wars.

But Mr. Asshole, did you ever stop and consider that if we don't consume product regardless of quality, there might not be any next product to get excited about?!

You know, because I'm feeling mighty ornery tonight, I thought I'd share my sentiments on the Nu Star Wars Trilogy. Enjoy.

Disney's Star Wars suck ass because in their case, everything HAS been done before and everything that has done what Star Wars has done has presented it in so many ways to succeed the predecessor.

I've played Japanese Star Wars in the form of Star Gladiator, a Star Wars Clone that goes Street Fighter and yet takes on a 1950s Sci Fi Flash Gordon vibe of fighting off and defending Earth from literal Space Nazi Heinrich Himmler and the Fourth Reich, with detailed backstories for its characters and a world that explores Earth going into intergalactic civilization. I've played a fuckton of JRPGs about youths whose destiny it is to become a hero on a perilous path after losing fucking everything and have to wage a crusade of justice against a world unfair to them and the people who also toil under such tyranny. I've watched countless anime about space travel and space colonization and the rise of heroes who chase what they must attain through the stars. I've played a duology of games about a poverty stricken nerd out in the ass end of California looking like modern day Modesto, George Lucas' very own hometown, having bought a lightsaber off of fucking Ebay and calls people fuckhead as their heads are cut right the fuck off and goes on a journey about why killing people, especially as a career, is a very bad prospect.

It's been done in so many other yet interesting ways, and yet Disney, multi-fucking billion-dollar super corporate monopoly on everything, can't even push out good Star Wars movies? You know what Disney's strategy for their Trilogy was? Do exactly what they did during the late 1990s and 2000s: jerk their own cocks out of self satisfaction, be so fatheaded and assured that nothing can possibly go wrong, piss on Walt Disney's grave, and think that if even a managerie of animal shit from dog to buffalo to hyena feces is presented with the Star Wars name, the "slobbering filthy hordes of unwashed masses" will eat it right the fuck up. TL;DR, classic fatheaded corporate hubris in the veins of what lead to the French Revolution and the fucking Sacking of Rome.

EVERYTHING about the new trilogy is fucking boring. I don't care if everyone got in line that stretched out from LA to NY for them to get in line to jerk off and blow JJ Abrams', Ron Perlmutter's, and Disney Executive Branch's dicks and shower them with their life's savings and lauded them and made the world's biggest spectacle of dicksucking ever in the history of mankind, those movies are balls fucking boring. Everything that has been done before in the classic trilogy of Star Wars has been chewed up and regurgitated by a bunch of fucking suits, and expecting us to pay them for it. Am I supposed to be excited by fucking space dog fights I'd rather watch at the end of A New Hope? Am I supposed to be shocked that Kylo Ren is Han Solo's and Leia Organa's son, than be awed that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father? Am I supposed to resonate with pissy old green alien tit tard cum drinking nostalgia dwelling asshole Luke Skywalker than be fascinated and with wonder of Obi Wan Kenobi's telling of the grand past of the Jedi and the Galaxy in the days of the Clone Wars by his very word? Have they learned fucking ANYTHING from what sank in the Prequels Trilogy and fucking Ghostbusters 2016? These movies are fucking uninteresting, trite, mass produced executive board meeting excrement, and fucking BORING.

Fuck Nu Star Wars.

ANYTHING BUT THAT!

Seriously, not consuming means the shills lose all their jobs, companies are forced to give you what you want and you get to look into media that caters to you and wants you as an audience member. Its win-win-win all the way. You have absolutely nothing to lose by not consuming and its actually better if you don't. People think they're replaceable, but its not easy to replace an audience these days and many companies are learning that the hard way. Because there's just so much fighting for your entertainment dollar: books, television, movies, games. And not just from the West either. The East is throwing its hat in the ring too, and taking LOTS of money out of the market.

The fact is there's metric tons of media out there I can consume. Even though I'm fucking old, I feel beholden to nothing anymore and get engrossed in new series all the time. It really is perplexing to me, quite honestly. I'm insane for 'The Witcher', I've got statues of Geralt, Yen, Triss, Ciri and Shani. I've got Witcher Shot glasses. But the second, the very second CD Projekt fucks me, I'm gone. I feel no loyalty to anything, because I've got immense choice and I'm not an abused house wife. I'm not going to wait around until the love returns. You best have my interests in mind or I'm fucking gone.

You know, because I'm feeling mighty ornery tonight, I thought I'd share my sentiments on the Nu Star Wars Trilogy. Enjoy.

Fuck Nu Star Wars.

Its exactly this. With the amount of good media out there now, it is downright shameful at how awful these sequels are. 10 minutes in the Mandalorian destroys their six hour movie series. And that's from their own material. So yeah. Fuck Disney Star Wars and their incompetence.

Dammit. It suffered a 70+% BO drop, but that may only be due to the Holiday, and it's still more than halfway to a billion. Either the article is true, the article is a fluffpiece, or Disney is buying A LOT of tickets.

It's the entertainment form of the sunk cost fallacy. People grow up with these franchises and become such nostalgia whores that they can't jump ship when it's been demolished by the iceberg of corporate greed. We truly do exist in the day of the Letzter Mensch.

I want to clarify, it wasnt my idea to get Disney minus. But my folks (who I do *not* live with) got it right around when it first dropped. And there apparently is no system in place to stop people who dont live together from sharing an account... seems like an oversight to me, but then again I guess I'm binging Mandalorian tomorrow :p

Happy life day!

Am I reading this right? Is this book saying the entire Resistance has just 24 fighter-crafts total?
That is not a Resistance, that's a White Nationalist Neo-Nazi group holed up in Asshole, Idaho compared to what the First/Last Order could field.

And those ships are, what, 20-30 years old by this time, with how much fighting flight time and hyperspace time on their frames and engines?

>Insert Rant on modern 4th Gen Warfare
>Insert Rant on Flight Logistics
>Insert Rant on Just Plain Stupidity

Remember what I said about how the the new trilogy didn't feel like it had any weight?

There's your fucking weight right there.

24 light attack craft and a fucking smuggler's flying junkpile.

Go Go REEEEsistance.

Still predicting 900M-1B final. With advertising and reshoots (and before Disney juicing the numbers) I'm estimating that will be about break even. I'd also hoped for another Solo, but there waa zero chance of taking that big of a black eye.

Speaking of black eyes, remember how they were breaking pre-sale records and there were more pre-sales than Black Panther? It did about 85% of BP's domestic open. Funny that.
(Jesus, the fucking Germans and the brits really love this fucking thing. I guess the Fogniggers like being cucked, and the Krauts love giant steaming turds, so it makes some sense)

Domestically, its doing just shy of TLJ's first week.

Here's the real fucking kicker.
I did an indepth autism post a while back about the films' performances; TFA dominated the BO, getting almost 80% of all ticket sales the first week- for the first 7 days, 4 of every 5 tickets sold was a star wars ticket.
TLJ cooled off a bit to about 75%. 3 of every 4 tickets sold was a Star Wars ticket. Still not bad.
Plan 9 only got to 67%. Less than 2 out of 3 tickets sold was a Star Wars ticket. Again, not the worst, but holy shit is that pretty solid drop.

I have a feeling that's currently a feature to get more people watching that they plan to plug later. Netflix is still really generous with account sharing, but they are starting to tighten up.

Not actually the case from what I've seen. Take, for example, the sort of people that buy the Madden series. The games have been getting demonstrably worse, have lacked features, and been essentially weaker with every single iteration. Yet despite the fact that more and more people are refusing to buy in than ever before, sales have remained mostly solid. How can this be? It's a combination of factors, including the younger players for whom this is their first game essentially replacing the players who intend to never buy another one of these fucking games every year, but the biggest contributor - by far - is that it's the only game in town. You want football, you're buying this fucking game, even though it's trash.

This is the case with most sci-fi now. The genre is absolutely infested with Social Justice tards and people trying to push an agenda that don't give a fuck about good storytelling. And since they have a de facto monopoly on official product, they can force you to buy in, in theory. In practice, fan backlash is a major thing, but that only penetrates so far into the normie tiers; if you go digging through this thread, the majority of those who saw this fucking abortion in theatres (and didn't see it just to spite this thread or bait response) did so because someone else foisted tickets on them somehow, either going with family or friends, and they really didn't have much say in the matter.

Well, I never saw Solo and have no plans to..

I have not seen episode 9 in theaters, but did see the cam rip. It's becoming less likely that I will. I cannot bring myself to watch it in theaters. I even watched the prequels in theaters

I do own Disney plus, which Mandalorian has made it a positive purchase. I will resubscribe for Mandalorian, I have no guilt on this..

I did buy Jedi Order(on good word of mouth), and was gifted BF2(which I'm enjoying)...

It's simple for me: Give them money when they do well. Don't give them money, when they don't. This stupid idea of obligation is rediculious. Star Wars is a brand, it will have good products and bad ones. Send a message with your wallet...

As far as episode 9, the ST was never that interesting to me anyways. I didn't necessarily think they would fuck it up this badly.

But, it was, to me, a transitory thing. The potential for good/great stories were going to be after it..

That is, a creative who wasn't shackled to the Skywalker stuff. They could play in the sandbox with their own creations..

That was always more interesting to me...

A poster wrote above that so much fandom is built on consumption. Well, Star Wars is mostly responsible for creating that. Star Wars has always had a strange relationship with consumerism, something George happily exploited at times...

So, the best thing to do with Star Wars(as the audience), treat it like a product....

The problem with fandom isn't so much the consumerism aspect, it's the supplanted religious aspect...

So much fandom """culture"""" is tied up in consumption.

So much of it is driven by the illusion that everything's fine. There is no reason to be upset.

"Toxicity" is puerile, vulgar and entitled. Nobody wants to be singled out as the debby-downer, or put up with a party pooper. Most people just want to enjoy shit and then move on. Others just want to go with the flow and get in on the new thing. Only nerds are picky and have standards, and that's because they have no life and nothing better to do. Don't be like a nerd; Be Cool. Just Consoom.

That being said, even the average consoomer gets bored of shit, and will definitely hop onto the next new thing. Only later will they catch onto or go along with the fact that what they enjoyed before actually sucked compared to the stuff from 2000 or the 1980s, assuming they care enough about them in the first place.

I have seen an article where it says Disney wants to change the timeline from BBY/ABY (before/after ep4 an de the battle of yavin) to BSI/ASI (before after ep7 and the star Killer incident)

Honestly, I should be mad but I just am not anymore. It's part for the course. They have the brand so they "tecnically can do whatever they want" and we know they hate us deep down (don't pretend they don't now with the mandalorian). Even if Kathey leaves, the atmosphere she built will refuse to die...
So yeah, it's like getting beaten by your abusive husband/wife...what did you expect?
Everything and everyone must center around REY
