Furry Fandom and Drama General

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.

So my fellow Kiwis, I have a little inquiry to ask of you.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Vivisector The Forums? I thought not. It's not a story the furfags would tell you. It's a shitlord legend.

Vivisector was a forum space created in 2007 in a similar vein to forums like Something Awful or Crush Yiff Destroy, that was centered primarily around many exceptional individuals and drama in the furry community. While many of it's posts have been lost to time, there's archives of a couple of their threads on archive.li and archive.org, as well as an official "archive" that just barely functions on the original url: https://forums.vivisector.org/index.php (There's no css and no posts after 2015 or so.) Also, they have a dead blog page that's still up as well: https://vivisector.org/vivblog/ [archive] and they used to have an IRC chat channel.

This thread in particular is a great example of what the overall culture was like at the time.

So what happened to them? CURRENT YEAR happened.

And in a flayrah blog post [archive] , we get a little more context.

(There's not much documentation on this whole drama so take it with a grain of salt I suppose.)

The long and short of it is the forums were shut down and replaced with a Discord server, and the Vivisector.org home page now looks like this:

As a long time lurker, it's painful to see a vast collection of exceptional happenings be left to die this way. (Kinda reminds you of something else huh?) I hope I'm not the only one who remembers what Vivisector used to be, but with Kiwi Farms I suppose it doesn't matter much anymore.

I have no desire to look at the new Discord, but feel free to do so yourself and share any exceptional experiences you have. (Just don't do anything illegal.)

I actually remember that forum, wow. I think it just kinda died down in activity after a while and I stopped visiting.
It felt like the uncensored side to Dogpatch at times.

This was all covered as it went down. Even a dox thread.
Didn't most of their user base move to animal control right here on the farms after this debacle? I remember reading about it a long time ago, unsure if I remember the details right though. Sorry for my potential ignorance.

I'm guessing he gets them vore commissions of his fursona to make his dick hard.

But hey! the dude suffers from Asperger's syndrome and WON'T get a job. The lazy fucker prefers to use public tax dollars to jet-off around the world to furry cons.

James,s LJ life-story.

Being a asshat troll in Telegram chats is one of his stronger points.
Ah yes. Abusing the tax system asbestos always. I know a telegram furfag who liveable in Canada and lives in a homeless shelter since it's cheaper to live there than pay rent (earn some like 2k Canadian a month). Plus he's into planes AND vore

I can't hate this because it reads pretty well, but tbh you could lump lulznet in with vivisector as well. I'm actually surprised Choob hasn't had a thread yet.

Vivisector's fall was one of the reasons why Animal Control exists, along with the fact a lot of furry centric threads were clogging up the main board. This forum has taken Vivisector's place in the furry drama sphere even if furries disagree with Null or what goes on in different parts of the site. Furries yell at each other accusing each other of being Kiwi Farms plants, while others will whine about this site as they source the latest drama scoops from here.

I wouldn't be shocked if at least a few vivisector regulars registered here under different names. Lulz.net is a dead mess nobody else uses and Twitter is shit in general and has a lot of fake rumors. KF is still the best place for furries to go for the drama they crave.

Simple:
The roots of the furry fandom are an offshoot of the sci-fi fandom of the late 70s. Early trekkies with specific interest in anthro aliens. That became furry.

The fandom was *always* horny. Nerds are horny. There's nothing wrong with that if you don't retreat so far into fantasy that you become unrelatable or start justifying unacceptable things ("I'm attracted to dogs, and that's natural for me, so I'm entitled to it!").

So as far as the furry fandom being about cartoons or anthros in the traditional sense, from Bugs Bunny to werewolves, you still have that, but you also have a huge swath of people that only see it as a proxy for their personal fetishes and paraphilias. Again, no judgement there as long as we're talking safe, sane and informed consent.

It fluctuates between the two, but I think that's the core history of the fandom simplifed.
If not Merlino and O'Riley, then it might have been someone else to eventually bring it all together. Whether it would have become cleaner or more degenerate is a matter of speculation.
In short (taking in the chain of quotes), th is a horny problem.
To be honest, I already got a feeling that is fundamental to nature vs nurture.
...that actually has me optimistic on the fandom, but horniness is just a huge part of society nowdays.

I'm probably going to get lambasted for this but here goes

I've got plenty of trans friends, some of the furry, and yet none of them act like the ones y'all post about here. One mtf friend I have is "witchy" and has a successful career in pharmacology/education. One ftm friend avoids the furry community now because he got abused by his partner and didn't like the constant fetishism.

I don't think being trans is the problem. I think the furry fandom has a warped perception of what it means to be trans and mentally healthy (I know y'all are gonna jump on this specific statement, hear me out)

There's being trans, and then there's "I'm a naughty catgirl in kneesocks and short skirt! Fuck me like you hate women daddy!"

Again, it's the furry fandom's penchant for hyper fetishising everything and stripping away any shred of humanity and personal experience in lieu of getting your rocks off to problematic fantasy bullshit.
This exactly. It's like most of these trans furries confused having actual dysphoria with having a fetish. That line has become so much more blurred in recent years and it is quite irksome to the actual trans people who just wanna live in peace without all this attention. I've noticed most 'trans' individuals that end up on KF tend to be those that either do not understand what trans actually is or think their fetish is an identity.

EDIT: typos

Well while I'm here leme just post a little blast from the past for y'all courtesy of u63r/Jon-Wood.

(God reading this really makes me understand how different the culture was in 2006.)

Vivisector died to to mentally unstable trans, the last I heard. Lulz is a hive for pedos and zoos with proxies gloating about how nobody can stop them.

AltFurry might be irrelevant in recent furry drama, but the blocklist sure seems to be causing trouble still. TizzyPaws (a proud trans, left leaning furry in their own words) tried to gather intel on Milo's plan to ghost MFF (that he backed out of) and found themselves in the blocklist.

Meanwhile on Twitter, furries tell each other that blocklists always work.

Right now at least 3,380 Twitter users are using this very specific blocklist. Furry Twitter eating their own doesn't just include words and screencaps, it also includes blocklists.

Furrydrama_2 went the same way. Furries laughing at other more exceptional furries to SJW nonsense and bafflingly trying to maintain the mockery without the offense. Because you need to stay woke when mocking dumb furries apparently.

I really only remember Vivisector since at the same time now-dead lolcow SilverAutomatic was running some drama blog which was really him trying to be bootleg furry Keemstar and failing at it. He either skimmed Vivisector or FD_2 for drama and tried to claim credit for doing idiot ejournalism.

From what I've seen, the average furry is more likely to be just some dumb kid or manchild but it can definitely act as a gateway into other lunacy. Like if they go the troon route, furry or otherwise they're near universally nuts.

Literally alive but in terms of his full on tard behavior online he seems to have mellowed out and stopped his drama whoring. Or at least I haven't heard anything.

I remember the last thing Silver went on about was trying to get Growly thrown off staff from conventions years before the tide turned against Growly. After that, he pretty much calmed down.
