Initial thoughts on "Redemption":Mandalorian 08:

-Old "Stormtroopers can't aim" joke is old
-Loved the E-Webb scene. Djaren actually picking up the main body of the gun and firing it from the hip was a literal "holy shit!" moment for me
-It was good that Moff Gideon had the presence of mind to blow up the power-generator almost immediately afterwards, though. Helped keep the scene from going too far over the top
-Moff Gideon himself seems like a very competently-written villain. Very old-school Imperial, not a screaming jackass like those "First Order" goofballs
-The Clone Wars-era Mandalorian troops are cool. Hope Hasbro produces an action figure of that costume design.
-More Mandalorian lore/ritual/philosophy, good, good. Love the treatment of the "Rising Phoenix" as this 40K-style machine-spirit with a mind of its own
-It seemed like a bit of a plot-hole that Djaren and his two companions survived an encounter with Gideon's troops when a couple dozen heavily armed and armored Mandalorians apparently got wiped out by the same forces. The only reasonable explanation for this that I can think of is that Gideon must have sent a much larger task-force to annihilate the Mandalorian enclave, and most of the adult Mandos present then sacrificed themselves by meeting the Imperials in open battle to keep them away from the forge
-I hope the Heavy is still alive and roaming free

Its not something that people were dying to know and is best left to some comic or Q&A, not some fucking movie scene by a director that arrogantly pretends he's "fixing" something that was never an error.
Only way that shit ever worked was as a video game because it made you feel like you were the one who stole the plans rather than watching Mini-Kennedy and the Diversity Squad do it. All the while said squad taking credit for fixing the "massive plot hole" that was the Death Star's weak point that was never even a plot hole to begin with. While said film instead creates newer plot holes by dismissing the start of ANH stating that the plans were secretly beamed aboard the Tantive IV during its political mission which allowed for the plausible deniability that it was just a consular ship, and instead replacing that by showing some guy take the damn plans in hand while Vader watched him run straight to the Tantive IV as they escaped right in front of him.
Can't have a cool name be the character's real name! Gotta make sure to cuck him and pussify him at every turn!
Hell they even changed Lando's name. How long until Disney reveals Luke is actually named Jake and we simply "misheard" Padme when she fucking named him?

Whelp... it’s over I did it I made it through Rise of Skywalker and.... it’s honestly not as bad as I feared it would be. Don’t get me wrong it’s bad and trust me I’ll get to the problems with the film in a bit but first I’ll go through stuff that I liked or at least somewhat appreciated
They actually try to give Rey a bit more depth in this film. It doesn’t quite work but I appreciate the effort.
On a purely aesthetic level there’s some pretty good cinematography in this film
They do actually try to have the main trio bounce off each other unlike the previous two films where they never really come together as a whole unit
I liked the scene between Han’s ghost and Ben
I thought the fight between Rey and Kylo Ren was visually interesting though we’ll talk about the logistics of it later
They did a pretty decent job with handling Leia’s Death.
Exogol and Kijimi are two of the better locations crapped out of Disney Star Wars by virtue of having their own identity
Exploring the Death Star wreckage was a neat idea
They killed off Wendig’s OC
Now onto shitting on this film
Ian does a good job reprising his role however none of his dialogue is even in the same tier of memorability as 6 or 3
Bringing back Palpatine is an idea I’m inherently opposed to. Dark Empire is FAR from perfect but it had an..... acceptable execution of a bad idea
The film offers ZERO explanation as to how Palpatine survived, created the final order IN addition to the First Order, and why he evened bothered with Snoke and the first order when he had an entire army of planet killers he could send against the galaxy
Rey being Palatine’s grandaughter is fucking fan fiction tier writing
Elements of the third act felt like lazy rehashes of ideas used to greater effect in Endgame
The mcgufffin hunt drags down the film’s pacing by a lot
Hux’s betrayal makes no since
The C 3PO “death” scene falls absolutely flat and is further made pointless by the fact that it’s effectively undone
They tell of how the Skywalker are the only family Rey has known but they don’t show
Their is so much force bullshit in this film. People say the healing is the worst example but they’re wrong. The worst is the force bonds.
Overall I’d say it’s better than TLJ but it’s still the second worst Star Wars film

I think a combination of Woke Twitter shitting on this movie for jettisoning Rian Johnson's bullshit and The Mandalorian being surprisingly decent has killed my sister's desire to see this dumpsterfire of a movie. It's a Christmas miracle.
