The impression I got from interviews is that there was a time crunch involved, and the offer was basically get the surgery from this guy now, or it would have to wait an unspecified period of time. And, well, I think the record speaks for itself regarding Remilia's decision-making skills.

Plus, mid-twenties is when you're looking down the barrel of finding a life after esports. Health problems that require constant maintenance plus hazy career prospects at best, that's not a heartening future to look forward to.

He wasn't even active in esports anymore since 2016. I assume he was mostly just streaming LoL on Twitch these days.

Understandably Remilia's had a rough background, but if Badawi's account of her is true, she was also pretty selfish enough to prioritize her whining instead of being a team player, temporarily put it aside, and do the responsibilities expected of pro players.

I know Remi was not a great person, but it's still sad to read these chats. It's sad to see Remi have a mental breakdown after realizing that, despite the puberty blockers, the hormones, the painful surgeries, the $100K+ spent... it didn't change a damn thing. Still 100% male and still 100% unhappy.

Think of all the young kids right now that are being pushed down this same road. In 10 or so years they will finish 'transitioning' and realize they were duped. They're still male/female, only now they're in pain and addicted to pain meds. Absolutely sickening. The doctors who allow this shit to happen deserve to rot in prison.

I recall reading that to deal with the pain, she self medicated with kratom. Not sure if it's addictive or how dangerous it is. I guess it means nobody prescribed her legit pain pills, though.

Edit: disregard that, I suck cocks. She took kratom and some other stuff like oxycodone on top. An addiction to pain pills is totally plausible.
