Almost none of the people troons call TERFs are even TERFs. Most of them aren't radical feminists and many aren't feminists at all. For every "real" TERF like Cathy Brennan there are a hundred people who just don't believe troons are real women, which they aren't.

The word TERF didn't start as a slur, like radfems themselves claim, but unironically it's a slur at this point in history.
Why? Because trannies think that everyone who doesn't like them is a TERF and are using that word like we use the word 'autistic' to the point >90% human beings are fucking TERFs.
I have seen troons call that shit to non-binary loonies that want to 'deconstruct gender' and people that who think gender reassignment is not the best course of action for dysphoria (which isn't)

TERFs and their predecessors were pretty instrumental in the creation of the conditions required for troons to grow to the extent they did. Said troons use the exact same social justice tactics and tools that TERFs and their radfem predecessors used to use all the time, only to even greater success due to being considered "more oppressed". Maybe the radfems will realize that arguing purely with concepts like social justice and oppression olympics are bad ideas. I doubt they will though.

Even I've been called a TERF once and I am far from being a feminist. The only limitation I have found is that it is overwhelmingly directed at women. I've been very visibly vocal in criticizing the TRA movement and almost never get called it. Whereas your average TRA will call a woman it just for looking at him sideways. There really does seem to be a deep-seated hatred of women by most TRAs. By this point I've come to take accusations of misogyny by feminists with a little heaping of salt because they've cried wolf so often. But in this case it seems to be right. I don't mean the gender dysphoria types (who are more often girls themselves anyway), but the troons seem to deep down hate women. I guess a group of people whose sexual fantasies revolve around being sluts, degradation and coercion you'd probably expect this from, though.
It might not have but there was around 0.05 seconds from it being first introduced to being used as a denigration. There's a site called terfisaslur.com which catalogues some small portion of the online abuse women get from TRAs. It's mind-blowing if you're a normie who starts from a position of "trans people are innocent oppressed people who had no choice they were born this way".
I've hung out with RadFems IRL - went along to some meet-ups where they were discussing how to deal with the trans movement. They tolerated me well enough so long as I was respectful. A little like Dian Fossey amongst the gorillas, half-expecting to be torn limb from limb at any moment. For the most part, they're nice people who often as not have received mistreatment at the hands of some guy. I honestly prefer RadFems to the mainstream Third Wave feminists. At least the RadFems believe men exist. A lot of them are lesbians which makes sense because if you remove sexual attraction men become large, noisy beasts with no default reason to like us, maybe? Anyway, yes - RadFems tried to use the same tools TRAs have now seized control of. A bit like Bilbo Baggins using the One Ring and now confronted by Sauron. But I have some sympathy for them just because their situation is so awful.The troons not only seem to hate them, but actively want to strip them of protections under law, are often as not openly fetishizing rape, literally want to take their place and society seems to be actively condoning all of this and celebrating it with TV shows and school indoctrination.
I've had civil debates with RadFems. They're not all Andrea Dworkin. And whatever disagreements with them I've had I wouldn't wish the trans movement on them. That's practically the definition of Cruel and Unusual Punishment.

The funniest thing is I've even seen trans people get called TERFs as well for saying stuff like "dysphoria makes you trans" or "kids shouldn't be on hormones". I think this is the quickest the SocJus crowd have managed to dilute a term's meaning.

r/GenderCritical, which is a toxic cesspool for true radicals, often promotes WoLF or at least on several occasions has encouraged women to donate money to them. A lot of women/users just blindly supported this idea. At one of these occasions I strongly urged women NOT to do that for similar reasons you’ve stated. Much better ways for women to pool and prioritize their wage. There’s a lot of agents and dummies looking to manipulate women in their in so-called radical spaces. It is sickening.
