emphysema is what happens when you could have quit smoking to unfuck your lungs, and didn't. people lose a toe to diabetes and don't fix it so they lose their foot and then their leg below the knee. I could go on and on. People get told so god damn often by doctors "if you just stopped doing x, your issue would likely improve", and then patients don't do it. If you take it personally or judge you can't work in medicine for long, it is really hard to care how the problem started when you are dealing with individuals who need professional help. There are points of no return for lots of disabilities, but that's true for fatties too. Lymphedema is a permanent issue, for instance. Whatever made these people this fat to begin with might be something that they can't fix on their own, maybe not, no one really knows for sure. When I learn about mentally ill populations that can theoretically recover (eating disorders, hoarders, addicts, whatever) it seems like half of them are not bad people, they are struggling with a mental issue, and the other half are just horrible people who are too dumb to make better decisions. Amy seems like a horrible person. However, she isn't that unusual of a disabled person for having made choices that led directly to a disability.

Yeah, I'm not bagging on doctors, they aren't the problem and do what they are trained to and need to do medically. I am also aware many patients are entirely non-compliant with the most basic advice that would improve their health from a mixture of stubborness, stupidity and a 'it can't happen to me' attitude. It's more the welfare systems that reward letting yourself decay and stay that way in cases where the issue is actually still reversible that I get MOTI about.

She sleeps in a recliner in the living room which she recently broke and blamed it on the kids. It's a 3 bedroom house. Ali has his bedroom, Amy has one she runs her youtube empire out of, and I guess the last one is a containment pen for all three ferals.

The "not a lot of food" chick is almost as dumb as Amy. She probably is a lot more active, has more muscle, may be younger than Amy. Her basal metabolic rate could be higher than Amy's since Amy is very, very sedentary. So, if she can eat more, good for her. (We also don't know how much Amy ate that she didn't report.) But, just because someone else can do it, so what? It might be unfair, but some of us can't eat that much and not gain weight. I can bitch and moan all day long about supermodels that eat like linebackers and stay slim, but it won't help me to pretend that I can do the same thing.

Amy needs to calculate her BMR and count every calorie. Even if you just lick the spoon. Even if it is a piece of gum. Count it. And don't count at the end of the day. You count it before it ever gets past your lips. Because if you figure out the calories ahead of time, you might decide it isn't worth it to eat X food for that many calories. Sure, it's a pain in the ass, but it works. And when you don't know what normal eating really is, you absolutely have to do it that way. That's how I know Amy will fail. She's too dumb and/or lazy to do the work it takes to eat right and to put long term goals over temporary pleasure.

Right. Like I said, I can't imagine how she justifies having her own bedroom when she sleeps sitting up on the couch, and the kids have to share one room. Well, yes I can. She's Amy. So excited about having a wall "all about her," as if normally others come first. Everything is all about her. She's a rotten person through and through, and it shows on the outside.
