The problem is not whether you love them or hate them since Ahsoka and Hondo are probably the only recurring overused characters under Disney who don't suck, the problem is they're over exposed as fuck under Disney. Hondo for example has appeared in almost every piece of Disney Wars media and interacted with almost every single character in the franchise except maybe Doctor Fucking Aphra, but its pretty much confirmed that he's at least been in the same room as everyone at some point. And while he doesn't appear in the Disney films, his flag appears in TFA and its confirmed that he's friends with Yellow Yoda and also served a "key role" between TLJ and Plan 9. Space Aladdin's stupidly over the top victories and similar knack for meeting everyone ever aside, he and Ahsoka are more remembered than Luke Skywalker across the galaxy and even Disney's novelization of ROTJ has 3PO talking about those two to the Ewoks instead despite the movie showing otherwise. Look I don't want to rag on Filoni too much, but its clear the man has a severe case of favoritsm and he's even hinted that he wants the four characters already mentioned to be in the Mandalorian despite so many other characters getting the axe with no chance at that same opportunity. And I'm not sure if some of the worst decisions in Rebels were his fault or not since the show got more and more messy as it went on so he could've been a victim of corporate meddling for all I know, but a lot of the choices that went on there really cheapened things. Time travel, Thrawn rape, turning a once intimidating species into monkey men, space whales being the answer to all the big technological mysteries and having said whales easily defeat the Empire's largest fleet simply to create an unnecessary "fix" for no fleets showing up to defend the Death Star just feels all so wrong. He couldn't even give Ahsoka or Rex proper send offs due to his favoritsm and even brought in time travel just to save his waifu. Again, whether all of that is Filoni's fault or not is anyone's guess, since Mandalorian doesn't seem to carry these problems for now. So whether it was corporate meddling or Favreau is keeping Filoni reigned in is anyone's guess.
Thrawn, Rukh and the Noghri really got the worst of it. Going from intimidating beastmen who gave Thrawn a poetic end to wimpy monkey man who got mutilated to death by purple Chewbacca and Thrawn getting tentacle raped into infinity and beyond.

I don't think he even cared for Thrawn. I think that was put upon him...
Thrawn, imo, really only works as a villian as a very military themed show.
Rogue Squadron series would have been perfect for him....
But now he is in some sort limbo with Bridger no?
Anyways, Iger was making the rounds. He basically eluded that Mandalorian could be going to movies.....
It's what I suspected. So, I think the series gets three seasons and then off to films...

We really should come up with a parody race of nuFans in Star Wars.
Let me start: The females are known for their strangely colored hair, fetal alcohol syndrome sneers, the thick fur on their legs and in their armpits and occasional large size. Meanwhile, the males are usually smaller in size, entirely submissive to the females and tend to open their mouths wide in unnatural grin-like grimaces, displaying their teeth and hoping to be given some water by the females (since males of this species are always thirsty). They also gnaw on objects that they have weird fascinations with for unknown reasons, they easily get overstimulated by certain stimuli and then tend to cry and breathe heavily.
While they pride themselves with displaying cultish objects, they usually avoid engaging in any activities usually related to that cult, they instead use their resources to acquire soy-based foodstuffs and sugary drinks containing coffeine.
I call this race "Wokies"

Still not a very cool thing to do, especially to one of the more popular characters of franchise outside the films next to Revan who has also been brought back by Disney and will likely be butchered or trooned out too.
Pretty much yeah. Rebels was in the gutter in terms of ratings and appeal, so they kept bringing in forced OT cameos that made little sense to try and boost ratings with no success. So they were forced to bring back Thrawn due to that being the largest fan request, which honestly made no sense for that kind of Disney Channel rank show which was completely ill-suited for such a character. The end result was fans learning to stop asking Disney to bring back old things. When they did bring him back, Filoni brought in Zahn to "get his characterization just right", but later Zahn revealed that he had little control over Thrawn outside of dialogue and portrayal, with him stating that Filoni and Lucasfilm were the only ones who had control over Thrawn's role and fate in the franchise, hence the tentacle rape into beyond so he wouldn't interfere with future DT-centered projects or retcon Wendig and nu-EU shit which had Rae Sloane take over the role of Thrawn for future media who Disney wants to remind you is better than Thrawn or any other imperial ever.

No question about that, which again makes his placement in Rebels all the more questionable but the only answer being "for ratings". The show featured a lot of pointless cameos and crossovers that really amounted to nothing other than cheap ratings grabs and made the universe feel small and the Empire even more incompetent.
Absolutely, but as said before Disney does not seem to want us to have nice things. This is what happens when you fill the head seats of Lucasfilm with Kennedy and wine mom clones of her whose current idea of good advertisement is SW kitchenware that tells girls to go back to the kitchen...
His fate is neither dead nor alive. Zahn says he's nothing unless Filoni or the Story Group decides to do something with him and that he has no say on the matter. But there are no plans to do anything with him that would devalue Sloane or put him at center stage again outside of a lot of prequel filler novels about Thrawn that don't really amount to anything. There's rumors that he'll be in the Mandalorian with Mara Jade at some point but only as a cameo, brief role or mentions so as not to retcon anything Disney has put forth about the Disney Trilogy.
Disney has also now replaced Pellaeon, Thrawn's former second in command with a "femboy" pedo icon to meet with Current Year standards and appease fangirls who now won't stop talking about the "sexual tension" between him and Thrawn.
You look up Thrawn and now you see shit like this, so thanks for nothing Rebels/Disney.

So, here is what I think: if they bring back George, even just for PR.
They can essentially dump all of the Kennedy stuff without losing face...
Basically decalring that they are "reworking the mythology to be in line with it's creator"
But, this only plays out if Lucas is not as mad at Iger as he is Kennedy. Mostly because Kennedy was his mistake...

That seems to be the only scenario for a less fucked up future left right now. But only way this might be well received or even happen is if they start it off with the new trilogy in 2022 or kickstart it by doing some sort of 1-minute TV spot or Disney+ short with Mark Hamill as Luke narrating his own success story completely detached from Disney shit, but waiting any longer to see shit get unfucked is getting on my nerves since my old man, his friends and disappointed old fans aren't getting any younger after having to put up with 7 years of watching something you enjoyed get torn to bits for the sake of pleasing Kennedy & Friends. And even then shit might still go under or get woke once George kicks the bucket or if the next CEO is even worse than Iger. I just quite frankly can't trust Disney to do anything right at this point or at least keep a good thing going.
I often wonder if they're the only reason the media is so adamant about defending Disney Wars while hate for Trek and GoT gets a pass. I mean sure Disney owns almost everything in entertainment now, but I remember early on that sites, people and articles were saying that SW couldn't fail and needed to be defended because Star Wars was now "all women" put in charge of the most well known IP in the world.

Im watching the Lost ESB Documentary right now, such a talented group of individuals involved in the making of that film and it is really interesting hearing Irvin kershner and Gary Kurtz explain the rationale for the various filmmaking decisions and how much time was given to make the worldbuilding make sense. What a stark difference.

Exactly, that is probably best demonstrated by hearing Ben Burtt explain the whole sound effect mixing process and how much effort went into that. Now its just an Ipad sound board they use and it certainly shows.

It's like they're the ones who would complain to the teachers that their daughter Rey deserves all A pluses on her report card because she's the best at everything, and you wouldn't want to discourage a future strong woman by giving her negative feedback, would you? Twinkies are palatable; Disney Wars turning soft, however, is an unpalatable mess.
One can't help wondering if there were females familiar with the SW franchise who could have developed a ST that told a better, unified story and didn't have the emphasis on identity politics and cheap gimmicks we saw in the ST that Disney released.
With the average attention span declining in the smart device age, it's not surprising the ST appears to appeal to the lowest common denominator with its fast bursts of flashiness with little in the way of substance in both interstitial scenes and the overall story. That said, I'm surprised fans with short attention spans managed to stay through almost 2.5 hours of Episode IX.

It’s gonna end up with around 1B worldwide. About half the amount Force Awakens made and less than Last Jedi.
Its Disney’s fault. The main reason why many overseas markets have rejected Star Wars is because there is no nostalgia for the older movies.
Force Awakens and the new trilogy should’ve just focused on New characters and brand new plots. That way they could get new foreign audiences interested.
But they kept circling back to the same characters and same plots.
And that’s all fine if Disney doesn’t want the brand to grow but they also pissed off the Western audiences, as in North America/Europe/English speaking world.
And as seen with Skywalkers box office, many (even in territories where Star Wars is strongest) have rejected the film and it saw yet another decline from Last Jedi and force Awakens.
